As a lot of you are probably aware, the finalists for the 2006 HOF have been released. We're going to have a vote here to see who we'd put in. The vote will be a little different than how the committee does it, but it should work.

RULES

- You need to vote for at least three people and a maximum of eight. Any deviation will discount your vote.

- I will tally votes on February 3rd. You can vote once though feel free to edit that vote at any time up until the 3rd.

- You need 80% of the vote to make it. A minimum of three will be elected and a maximum of 6.

- I reserve the right to disqualify any vote I see fit.

- Finally, people will disagree. I expect this and it should be interesting. What I don't want to see any personal attacks in this thread as this will end in removal of your post/vote/virtual boot up your ass.

Cool idea Rod! (doh didn't see that HOF link, oh well - more the better) I'd like to also add more players/coaches profile pages for everyones considerations, a lot of these guys were before our time. Again, stats don't tell the whole story (especially for earlier players and linemen), but they could help with your decisions:

Kinda surprised Aikman got in before Irvin.

If you look at Irvin's yearly stats, they're good, but they're not top 10 all-time in any category. It's when you look at his huge games he had, that you can see he was a big time player, just pulling up some here:

1996- 12 rec, 186 yds, 1 td

1996- 8 rec, 198 yds, 1 td

1997- 7 rec, 153 yds, 2 td's (against a very good Pitt D)

1992 SB- 6 rec, 114 yds, 2 td's

1994 NFCC- 12 rec, 192 yds, 2 td's

1995 NFCC- 7 rec, 100 yds, 2 td's

3 Super Bowls

He was a clutch player, and his worth goes beyond the stats and rings.

If anything, Aikman should have been snubbed too. 165/141 td to int ratio isn't stellar. Never threw for over 4000 yards (or even 3500). Not top 10 in any category.

1 HoF-caliber SB performance:

1992- 273 yds, 4 td, 0 int

1993- 207 yds, 0 td, 1 int

1995- 209 yds, 1 td, 0 int

He was great, they both were. I just don't see how they don't come as a pair, or not at all.

===

2006 HoF Inductee's:

Troy Aikman

Reggie White

Warren Moon (WELL deserved, over 70,000 yards as a pro CFL/NFL)

Harry Carson

John Madden

Rayfield Wright

I think that is pretty accurate, Aikman and Irvin only has the rings to be considered for the HOF, other than that they are borderline HOFers.
