malferds
i have not made my mind up yet about real first names or nick names yet kingsoby, you confused me a little. im a mathamatition not an englishamatition. yes there is a way to rate an all-star team rom, it will just be far from perfect and will not have much of a connetion between the roster and the defensive squad and o-line.... warren wells is warren wells and i cant give away the secrets to my amature, faulty, and soon to be criticized rating system! i dont know if ill change the system to the outcome has barry at a 81 or a 75, im thinking of keepin it were he's an 81 it is an all star rom, and about warren wells max speed- yeah that will be fixed! ill have to put a max out at like 88 for WR's my reasoning is to make them good enough to do wr- reverses? is that stupid? now i'm thinking of slowing them down but not shure yet
malferds
this rom will not only be the greatest players for each team, it will be the best season of those players. the one thing i am very disapointed in is that WALTER PAYTON did not have a real extravagant stand out season. and even thought the plan was to keep my ratings unbiased im tempted to tweak his stats... but maybe ill find a better way
Slig
Is there already a rom with each team's best year...because that would be pretty cool. kingsoby1
see, these ideas are all well and good, and you guys might be interested by the prospect...however, you really can't put together an alltime greats rom unless you make it balanced teams, as there is no way to compare teams through the seasons (ie 76 steelers vs 2005 patriots... who's better and how do you compare?).and having wacky MS values will make the rom really bad 75rp... unless you have wacky MS values on defense too. bruddog
You can only loosely compare by looking at standard devations from the mean of that season. It tells you how much better than the average team in X statistic team was in a given season. Obviously manning's passer rating this season meant less than in seasons past when the average passer rating was nearly 90 this last season
chymiy
You can only loosely compare by looking at standard devations from the mean of that season. It tells you how much better than the average team in X statistic team was in a given season. Obviously manning's passer rating this season meant less than in seasons past when the average passer rating was nearly 90 this last seasonThis is a good point, but something would have to be done about comparing salary cap teams vs. pre-salary cap teams. You take a team that played before there was a cap and the difference between their stats and the average team during that season is going to be greater than that of the more balanced teams of the current NFL. When only a handful of teams have most of the good players, it skews the overall league stats.Comparing teams vs. the level of their opponents in a given year does compensate for rules changes throughout history, though. malferds
keep in mind that none of these ratings are affected by my personal preference and are strictly by stats. (walter paytons will be altered however)ball control has not yet been rated and WR receptions will be centered a little more soon.IF ANYONE HAS A GOOD IDEA ON HOW TO RATE PASSING SPEED BY STATS PLEASE LET ME KNOW i could use some advise there, and im trying to avoid bias opinions of players.TSB best year of the greats Green Bay Packers PLAYER # RS RP MS HP C1 C2 C3 C4 RSQB Brett Favre---------- 38 50 25 63 63 81 75 63 40.3QB Bryan Starr--------- 25 44 38 25 50 94 75 75 23.1RB Jim Taylor ---------- 56 69 56 56 6 19 55.6RB Ahman Green------- 38 56 63 25 6 56 40.4RB Paul Hornug--------- 50 56 31 63 6 44 49.1RB Eddie Ivery--------- 31 50 56 31 6 31 32.9WR Billy Howton--------- 44 50 63 6 6 50 43.1WR Don Hutson--------- 13 38 19 6 6 75 15.0WR Sterling Sharpe----- 25 38 31 19 6 63 23.5WR James Lofton------- 50 50 69 6 6 25 47.4TE Mark Chmura------- 38 56 25 88 6 44 38.5TE Ronald Kramer----- 38 50 31 75 6 31 39.1C Jim Ringo------------ 44 63 44 69 46.61LG Gale Gillingham----- 38 50 38 56 37.81RG Marco Rivera-------- 38 50 31 56 36.05LT Forrest Gregg------- 44 63 19 69 44.85RT Bob Skoronski------ 31 44 13 44 30.77TSB best year of the greats Cleveland Browns PLAYER # RS RP MS HP C1 C2 C3 C4 RSQB Milt Plum------------ 19 13 6 38 56 94 69 25 16.8QB Otto Graham-------- 25 44 13 31 44 81 81 75 22.5RB James Brown-------- 69 75 63 81 6 50 68.7RB Leroy Kelly---------- 38 63 63 31 6 19 38.1RB Robert Mitchell------ 25 44 63 13 6 56 24.9RB Marion Motley------- 63 63 38 88 6 31 62.5WR Gary Collins--------- 25 31 31 19 6 31 22.0WR Paul Warfield-------- 44 50 69 6 6 44 46.7WR Michael Jackson----- 25 25 38 13 6 19 26.8WR Reggie Rucker------ 31 25 44 13 6 6 31.4TE Ozzie Newsome----- 31 38 6 63 6 63 32.9TE Milt Morin------------ 44 56 38 75 6 31 42.0C Tom DeLeone------- 31 44 31 50 32.84LG Dick Schafrath------ 38 56 38 56 39.88RG Gene Hickerson----- 38 56 38 56 39.88LT Lou Groza----------- 44 63 19 69 45.16RT Mike McCormack--- 38 56 13 63 39.88TSB best year of the greats Minesota Vikings PLAYER # RS RP MS HP C1 C2 C3 C4 RSQB Daunte Culpepper-- 56 50 25 88 63 38 94 81 55.1QB Fran Tarkenton----- 19 56 63 13 63 75 75 75 20.2RB Robert Smith------- 38 44 50 25 6 38 35.1RB Michael Bennett----- 31 38 44 19 6 31 31.0RB Terry Allen ---------- 31 44 44 25 6 44 34.0RB Bill Brown----------- 56 56 25 75 6 38 53.6WR Randy Moss--------- 50 56 75 25 6 50 51.0WR Cris Carter---------- 25 50 38 13 6 88 24.6WR Jake Reed----------- 25 25 38 25 6 19 27.0WR John Gilliam---------- 38 38 50 19 6 19 36.4TE Steve Jordan-------- 38 31 25 13 6 38 37.7TE Joseph Senser------- 44 44 13 63 6 69 44.1C Henry Tingelhoff---- 44 63 44 69 46.57LG Edward White ------- 44 56 44 63 43.05RG Randall McDaniel--- 56 75 56 88 57.13LT Ron Yary------------ 50 63 19 75 48.33RT Grady Alderman---- 44 63 19 75 46.57TSB best year of the greats Detroit Lions PLAYER # RS RP MS HP C1 C2 C3 C4 RSQB Scott Mitchell-------- 38 44 6 63 56 81 63 94 36.7QB Bobby Layne-------- 25 38 19 31 56 56 50 81 26.4RB Barry Sanders------ 31 50 81 6 6 44 33.2RB Billy Sims----------- 50 56 44 44 6 44 51.1RB Nick Pietrosante---- 56 63 44 75 6 13 56.8RB Doak Walker-------- 6 38 63 6 6 81 7.4WR Herman Moore------ 25 44 38 19 6 75 25.2WR Cloyce Box---------- 44 50 63 25 6 50 43.9WR Gail Cogdill---------- 31 31 44 13 6 25 29.3WR Terry Barr----------- 19 31 25 6 6 38 19.4TE Charlie Sanders----- 38 50 31 69 6 25 34.7TE Jim Gibbons--------- 44 44 25 56 6 50 42.0C Ed Flanagan--------- 31 50 31 50 34.49LG Harley Sewell------- 31 50 31 50 34.49RG John Gordy---------- 31 44 31 50 32.73LT Lomas Brown------- 38 56 13 63 39.77RT Lou Creekmur------ 44 56 19 63 41.

Slig
The Vikings roster is flawed. First of all, Fran Tarkenton should be starting over Daunte Culpepper. Fran took the team to 3 superbowls and is a hall-of-famer. Also, where are Chuck Foreman and Ahmad Rashad? You need to remove Michael Bennett and Jake Reed and put those two guys on there.I just noticed something else on your all-time Bears team. Where the fuck is Jim McMahon? There is no fucking way Erik Kramer and Jim Harbaugh should be ahead of him.

ImFlo
Sid Luckman?May have played a looong time ago, but was league MVP three times, all-pro seven times. And was really the only great QB the Bears ever had.

malferds
ok guys thatnks for the help i really appreciate it! i thought i covered my steps well but i must have overlooked a lot of things.i did have sid luckman in there, forgot why i changed it...sorry about the "starter" confusion, i havent placed starters yet so sometimes their not in the right order, but on the vikes daunte might have been the starter, ill look it over and make the best i can out of it.i just finished the defensive formulas and must have make a bunch of circular references cause it all got froze, formulas stopped formulatin! and i had to start the defense over again. this is really a waiste of time but i want to see it finished bad. malferds
1. fran tark info cells moved up to avoid starter confusion(was and will be the starter in the game)2. chuck foreman is 1st vikings running back then brown then smith then mason. wow big mistake! about the vikings (maybe other teams as well) offensive roster, i started doing this by picking players from the stats that looked impressive rather than who was more dedicated to the team, had more pro-bowls, and was all around closer to being a team legend. i forgot to go back and change this on the teams i had already done. this will be changed, im glad someone caught that.3. luckmans the starting qb and although he had -40 rushing yards in his best season he also cought 4 interceptions(yeah u heard right!) for 80 some yards, i think ill just stick them onto his rushing stats so he dont suck so bad. mcmahon had a crazy season can he really run like that(40 carries in 9games for 7.1 yards per run?)it wasnt an easy decision but i put him as number 2 john brockington is now in but was close and very arguable
Slig
If I were you I'd make the vikings have a 2 back set with Robert Smith and Chuck Foreman. Robert Smith is the best back in Vikings history. Just look at his stats in 1998-2000.....unreal. Chuck Foreman was a great player too and should be in the position to catch more passes out of the backfield....but he wasn't as good as Robert Smith. Brown and Mason should be the two backups though.
