bruddog
Has anyone ever tried running the FCE emulator for X-BOX? I don't have one or I'd try. Just curious because it has a netplay option and it might be nice to play on a console vs at the computer.
Nezbit
I run FCEultra on my xbox. It has a different UI but it is still fce ultra. I have all the original nes roms and of course all my editted Tecmo roms on my xbox hard drive. Ah. it is a beautiful thing
DoubleA
How were you able to do the transfer of your Roms and Emus?I have a modded Xbox and I want to play my roms on it...Can anyone help?
Nezbit
aight here you go........ first you need a program called flash fxp (free 30 day trial) then you need to get the xbox ported emulators and a collection of roms (same roms you play on the computer. The emulators can be found here http://www.megagames.com/xbox/xbox_emulators.shtml (note you do not use the computer made emulators) now you need to connect you xbox to your computer (I assume you know how to do this if not just ask) Now open up flash fxp and enter your xbox info as a new site (its IP address, etc etc...and the name and password should both be called: xbox ) ok now connect to your xbox and you want to go into the F: drive or whichever one holds all of your xbox games (sometimes its you E drive) There should be a games folder in the F: drive go into that. now click and drag your emulators over,...good. Now in the emulator folder click til you find a folder called roms....excellent open that up and click and drag all of your roms in there. Thats it now when you reset your xbox it should now have a selection for nes where your xbox games are. Once you get to know the xbox file structure you can set up a separate emulator menu but for now this will work just fine. I am also assuming you have an upgraded hard drive and a chip (softmodded xboxes would be handled differently) If you run into problems I can help but you need to be specific with your problem. DoubleA
How do I conncect my Xbox to my computer?
Nezbit
cat 5E cable, do you play on xbox live?? if you do you should be connected to your computer already, if not get an ethernet cable and connect your xbox to your computer. the cable looks like a phone wire just with a slightly bigger head. You can get one at best buy or some place similar. Just ask someone there and they'll know what you're looking for.
DoubleA
I got it.I'm not connected to Xbox live. What do I do next?
Nezbit
aight download flash fxp (its free for thirty days and still works for like 60)you should know your xbox's IP, gateway, subnet mask right? if not go to your settings menu in the xbox dashboard and that information should be in there. oh and your xbox's name and password should also be: xbox make sure this is true also, if not write down whatever it is.ok, no you could do this step one of two ways, I'll tell you the way I did it becuase I think its easier. You are going to have to change your computers IP adress, subnet, and defeult gateway (I assume you know how to do this if not just ask) Change your computers IP to one number lower than your xbox's example if the xbox's IP is 25.182.34.79 then change you computer's IP to 25.182.34.78 change your computers subnet and default gateways to match exactly what your xbox's are. After this step you will most likely not be able to access the interenet until you change you IP and other settings back, but you'll be able to access your xbox. Now open up flash fxp and there should be an option like "connect to site" or "create new site" do that. Enter in your xbox's information, IP, gateway, subnet, port (21 i think, whatever the defualt is), password and site name should both be xbox once again. Prress connect and if everything goes well it should connect and all of your xbox information (file structure should be there) once again games are going to be in your F or E drive and you can click and drag the xbox emulators and roms over. Once you get good at playing with the files in there, there are a lot of cool things you can do...... for instance you can change the way your xbox menus read out, you can start using modified files, and some games have communities that create new maps and things for the games that you can only insert using this method (I have thirty or so Halo2 maps for example.) This can be a pain in the ass to get working sometimes so keep asking questions whenever you get stuck. Just remember to be specific. DoubleA
How do I change my computers IP adress, subnet, and defeult gateway?Do you recommend I keep the original information in my IP address, subnet, and default gateway. Since I will most likely not be able to access the interenet until you change you IP and other settings back.
Nezbit
to change your computers IP etc etc, assuming you are using windows xp click on start button (bottom left hand corner of your screen) right click on "my network places"left click on "properties" on the window that pops upnow you should see a local area connection in the new windowright click on the connection left click on "properties" in the new window that pops up a new window should pop up in one of the scrolling boxes there should be an option called "internet protocol (TCP/IP)" double left click on that one.I'm going to assume that your computer is set up to automatically obtain an internet address (the circle that says "Obtain an IP address automatically" should be filled in) left click the circle that says "use the following IP" and then you start filling in the new numbers like we have already discussed. don't worry about remembering the old IP or finding out where it is ...all you ever need to do is go back to this window and tell your computer to automatically obtain a new IP address by clicking on the circle that says to do so. Oh I forgot you need the DNS server information for your xbox also, ....should be found in the same settings section of the xbox dashboard. You will need to fill in that information also. There may be a way to set up everything so that you can access the internet and the xbox's harddrive using the same IP information, but for some reason it has never worked for me.....and this method works fine for me. Once you get used to switching everything, it goes quickly. Are you running EVOX, Avalaunch, or Media Center on your xbox?
DoubleA
I'm running Avalaunch.
Nezbit
I was just curious, I don't know avalaunch as well, but from what I understand it allows for faster transfer speeds, /////////// Let me know how you make out with the transfer
DoubleA
Nez,I'm in Flash FXP. I clicked the Connect button. Do I press quick connect? Does my xbox have to be on? What fields do I enter the Static IP/Gateway/Subnet?
Nezbit
lol shit I just tried going into flash and I can't get in because the free trial ran out like 6 months ago. Alright if memory serves me correct you have to go to "sites" and create a new site to connect to (your xbox)Fill in the your xbox's IP etc etc again your password and site name should both be "xbox" without quotes.yes xbox must be on
DoubleA
I see where to create new site, I entered the IP info but where do I enter static IP/Gateway/subnet info?Do I enter anything in Remote or Local path fields?
Nezbit
static IP is the IP .......static just means it won't change.give whatever information you have when it asks for it....anything else that I haven't asked you to get should not be necessary to connect.
