  4. There is a rumor floating around out there that part of the reason that Tecmo Koei has been remaking the 1993 SNES version of Tecmo Super Bowl is in part due to them not being able to locate the original source code to the cult classic 1991 NES release of Tecmo Super Bowl. Today I'm happy to report that a decompiled version by @bruddog has been released to Github, making the source code for the original game available to anyone with interest in digging into the secrets of the game. For those unfamiliar, Nintendo Entertainment System games are written in 6502 assembly code which is then optimized into kilobyte sized files that a NES can execute. In some ways, trying to interpret them as a human is akin to taking a book run through a shredded and taping the paper back together shred by shred. Per the release, this is "An exhaustive disassembly of the NES game Tecmo Super Bowl into a byte-for-byte re-build of the original game". @bruddog has gone through the trouble of "every last instruction and memory location" while even guessing at unused code in the game. Due to the licensed images and characters in the game you will need to secure your own copy of TSB in order to complete the data required to compile a new game. This operation will also create a decompiled and commented source code. For most, the tools we have more modifying the current game will be adequate and this will simply be a curiosity. For others, this will be a way to more effectively create modifications without needing to tediously try and decipher source code. Perhaps this will one day you'll see a new retro type game release that plays exactly like the old NES Tecmo Super Bowl. You can find the release at https://github.com/bruddog/Tecmo_Super_Bowl_NES_Disassembly You'll need to have a Windows machine or else bring your own version of a 6502 compiler to the party. I've not only verified that this works but also that if you're having trouble it's because you haven't taken the time to fully read through the build instructions.

  9. Hello! Ive recently acquired a pretty neat piece, that I have very little information on. I am currently looking to learn more about it's history. What I've found out was that it's a custom homebrew sequel. And was made by one of the members from this forum. I've attached some photos! If you guys have any information or even know the creator, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!
  10. Whoa! This thing's an interesting mofo. I rock with Stars, cuz they defunct and that's junk. Wk1 game: opened with back-to-back KR touch downs; one by either team. We eventually - eventually, because no adjustable quarters(?), mean games go on for a loooong time {but I kind of like that change of pace...} - won, and I digg the helmet-icons above the players heads!

  16. Looks great, thank you! Hopefully the Broncos don't go with a white helmet. They used them last year and I was not a fan.
  17. See attached. Changed 0x23BDF to 97 98 99 FF 01 & used a tile editor to change the colors on two tiles to complete the FM change to white. Waiting on Denver...I hope their color remains blue for the primary shell! Detroit will not be changing their shell color or primary logo; however, I imagine the center helmet stripe will be modified to coincide with the new uniform. TSB_Base_32-Team_ROM_2024.nes
  18. how are the uniforms changed? what program is used? I opened one of the roms in a tile layer program and it's just a jumbled mess. I would like to get rid of the white sox black jerseys and replace with white and black pinstripes.
  19. I edited my version last week. I will get you the hex locations & changes for CLE’s mini within the next 24 hours or so unless someone beats me to it. Also, if the rumors are true, DEN is adopting a white helmet as primary. I sure hope not since a variation of blue has been their identity for a very long time.
  20. Here's a copy of the game with the facemask on the Browns large helmet edited: The mini-helmet though is where I get thrown off... TSB_Base_32-Team_ROM_2024.nes
  21. Browns will most likely change their facemask to white according to many sources.
  22. Thank you @jstout, that did the trick! Hopefully the Lions and Broncos don't have too drastic of a change and we can call the 2024 base rom set.
  23. This should have NYJ with the white facemask. I reused KC's top right for ease but if it has to be changed in the future than tile 92 can be edited to split the 2 apart. TSB Base 32-Team ROM 2024.nes
  24. Looks like the Lions, Texans, Broncos and Jets are going to be sporting new uniforms this year. So far the Lions and Broncos new unies haven't leaked, the Texans uniform changes aren't drastic enough to make a change to the helmet but the Jets have announced they will be going with their "Sack Exchange" uniforms as their primary uniforms. I was able to edit the jets mini helmet logo, large helmet logo and facemask. However, I have no clue as to how to change the Jets mini helmet facemask to white (like the Bills, Dolphins and Chiefs). Anyone know how to make this change? Attached is a file of the base rom with the updates I added: TSB Base 32-Team ROM 2024.nes
  25. One of the things that's been hard to incorporate into CFL hack has been the rouge. But you mentioned that if you were to place the kickoff location at the 30-yard line but did not edit the kickoff range to the 20-to-end zone, the ball would fly out the back for a safety. That is the most common "single point" score in CFL. If we were to use the hack for kickoff location but allowed for the error, we could implement rouges in Tecmo Grey Cup if we adjusted the point value of a safety to 1. The CFL hack does do extra things--namely edit and extend end zones--so I'm not sure it would work. I might try to test this weekend,
  26. I did it pixel by pixel using templates from pixel art logos I searched for online or using a pixel app on my phone that imports pictures to pixels. yy-chr is the editor I use. I also used tips from you and others on this site to help me map out the graphics. Let me know if I can help you in anyway. I found I really enjoyed doing the graphics after I got started. I loved playing this game as a kid and wanted to update it as much as possible. I’d really love to get the both versions up to 30 teams but still have a lot to learn on ROM hacking in order to do this. Do some of your other sports ROMs have appropriate number of teams??
