#1.  Week 1, Game 13-Chicago at Tampa Bay

Last year, Buccaneers Coach Jarrad Lutton found himself in a position he has not been in since the league reformed.  Win, and you’re in.  The only problem……Coach Bordier and the mighty Bears stood in his way.  Fate had its way and All Everything LB Seth Joyner was injured early.  Coach Lutton never recovered and failed to qualify for the second season.  Instead his brother, Coach Jordan Lutton made it as the 6 seed and we all know the rest.  In season XIV, Coach Jarrad Lutton will have his opportunity to avenge his lost opportunity and set the tone for his season.  But in order to do that, he will need to do something he has not done since the league reformed.   We will know early if Coach Jarrad Lutton is a serious contender in season XIV.

#2 Week #4, Game  #57-New Orleans at Detroit

For two seasons, Coach Summerfield has coached the Saints to playoff births.  And for two seasons, Coach Summerfield has come up short in said playoffs.  Both times he lost heart breakers to what would be the eventual Man Bowl Champion.  That is not a consolation prize, because lets face it, there are no consolation prizes in this league.  Those are just facts.  Other facts are that Coach Summerfield and Coach Jordan Lutton have faced each other twice each of the past two seasons, with each team splitting in both the playoffs and the regular season.  But Coach Lutton has what Coach Summerfield so desperately wants.  Week 4 brings us the first high profile cross division game, a playoff re-match, and another installment in this budding cross division rivalry.  Gone are the days where these two coaches would fight over that atrocious Disney movie loosely based on hockey, but more about a whinny lawyer crying to get a better player on his team despite making the kid turn walk away from his pee wee hockey friends, and here are the days where these two coaches are fiercely battling over playoff positioning.  Last season, Coach Summerfield put Coach Lutton’s playoff dreams on life support.  They lived. Coach Lutton returned the favor by executing Coach Summerfield’s Man Bowl dreams.

#3 Week #8, game #104-Atlanta at Minnesota

For season upon season, Coach Fonovic was a perennial powerhouse in Chicago.  However, since moving to Minnesota, things have not gone as well.  Each year, The Peoples Champ steals games and competes with the league powerhouses.  He just comes up short in a handful of games and has not been able to sustain the same success he once had.  But lets face it, a bounce here and a bounce there and The Peoples Champ will once again be a legit contender.   Coach Smutnik entered the league as Coach of the Rams when we reformed, and lets face it, he was awful.  Then in his first off season, he stepped down to Assistant Head Coach, and brought in God Deion Sanders to take over.   Things took off from there, and we all know of the Rams successes.  But since moving back to Head Coaching in Atlanta, things have not gone as well, but not as bad either.  Last year, Coach Smutnik quietly went 11-5, and missed the playoffs on tiebreaker.   Coach Smutnik beat perennial playoff team St. Louis coached by perennial playoff coach Dan Soffer.  Both Coaches Fonovic and Smutnik need this game.  The winner of this game has the inside track to not needing the tiebreaker when week 17 concludes.

#4 Week #12, Game #163-St. Louis at Chicago

It’s no secret that Coach Soffer and the Rams have struggled against Coach Bordier and the Bears.  Coach Soffer and the Rams have played well enough to win against every opponent they have faced, with one exception.  Da’ Bears.   But this year is different.  The schedule gods have placed a matchup between these two teams right in the middle of the season, and if history repeats itself this could easily serve as a catalyst to another division title for the Bears.   And spell disaster for Coach Soffer, who has a pair of tough games down the stretch of the season (foreshadowing….) which may find him on the outside of the playoff picture.  However, if Coach Soffer can exercise his demons, if he can slay that Monster of the Midway, if he can do what he has yet to do in his time in St. Louis, if he can beat the Bears, he puts himself in a position to possibly regain the NFC West Crown, and puts more pressure on the Bears who just came out of a brutal three game stretch from week 8-week 10, which may put them on the playoff bubble.  So much rides on another cross divisional game.

#5 Week 16, game #212-Green Bay at St. Louis

Coach Pine makes the playoffs.  Nothing about this game, or what I am going to say will change that.  Coach Pine makes the playoffs.  But that’s not what Coach Pine wants.  Coach Pine considers anything less than a Man Bowl victory a failure.  And when preparing to make a run at a Man Bowl, playoff positioning matters.  In Season XII, Coach Pine won his division and secured a first round bye.  We all know how about how that season ended with Coach Pine connecting with Robert Brooks for an 80 yard TD to win the Man Bowl on the final play of the game to defeat the Bears.  Well last season, Coach Pine did not win his division and was forced to play that same Bears squad in the divisional round.  Coach Bordier extracted his revenge and in the same game proved that when going for the greatest championship in North America, seeding is important.  This game will help establish where Coach Pine will find himself in the playoffs.   And it may also be the game that ends Coach Soffer’s season.  This is the final man game for both teams, and may very well be the game that both need, but only one can have.  Unless they tie.  Which is awful.

With the Next season on the horizon, Lets preview the 5 biggest games on the NFTGL XIV Schedule.
