A visual example of lag using the tecmo kickbar

Emulators work by delaying your input a certain amount of frames so that it has time to reach the other player for processing. Imagine you could do a perfect onsides on console every time (kickbar full black). Here is when the kickbar would be if you didn't try and adjust your press based on the lag.

High speed nesticle was typically run on a 5 frame delay until we realized it could be lowered based on the ping. Nestopia averages between 2-5 frames depending on the location of the two players and connection.

side question since you mentioned "perfect onsides" kick -> how much does the kick-meter location make a difference on the outcome of an onside kick?
