Tecmo 2015 bug?

Recommended Posts

I love the 2015 version of Tecmo Super Bowl with the 4-3 defenses. I have been trying to put together rosters for every year between 2002 and now and I seem to have run into a bug. Every season other than the 2014 season has the NFC West players with completely screwed up names (usually a combination of the 2014 players and the ones from the year I substituted, sometimes they're symbols). I was using TSBTool Supreme 0.9.1 beta. And after I noticed the issue I went to see if a newer version was available and I got v1.0.0.3.

0.9.1 would at least let me edit and save the ROMs, but the names of the NFC West would be screwed up (I just noticed that the first screwed up team is the 29th team, so that may have something to do with it). 1.0.0.3 does not even open the file correctly. It stops after showing this for the 49ers:

TEAM = 49ers SimData=0xff2,
PLAYBOOK R2211, P7132
QB1, , Face=0x3f, #0, 25, 69, 31, 13, 56, 63, 56, 63 ,[5, 9, 1 ]
QB2, , Face=0x8, #0, 25, 69, 13, 13, 38, 31, 38, 19 ,[2, 3, 2 ]
RB1, , Face=0x98, #8e, 38, 69, 50, 31, 50, 50 ,[6, 5, 4, 6 ]
RB2, ÿ&

Is Tecmo 2015 made to be unmoddable? I'd really like to have all of the seasons with 32 teams and 4-3 defenses as an option. Is anybody else able to duplicate this issue?

Note: I was able to modify the players on one team with 0.9.1 (Carolina) but changed nothing else with the 2014 data, and all players show up correctly. However if I try to open the official TSB 2015 ROM, then it gives me the same garbage with the 49ers.

Edit: Thanks for the responses. I will try this out when I get a chance and let you know how it works.

basically, this particular rom needs the NFC West data copied from one place to the other.  due to the 4-3 hack , the rom is actually expanded.

try this:

the location of the NFC West teams is in a different location. copy x3F000-x4000F and paste it at x7F000-x8000F.

so, do your tweaks in TSB TOOL, save it,

then open up the rom in a hex editor or whathaveyou and copy/paste the above. then save it.

it sucks, but is just one extra step.
