tecmoalpha
Ok I'm playing a season with the Jets and I have long ditched my snes for a retron 5And I love this game more and more.anywayIt's late 3rd qt in a rout over the bears I'm up like 44-0 so I wanted to sit deion and Dante Jones so they dont get hurt by chance and they each had monster games.deion 3 ints and Jones 3 sacks so I decide to save state at that point and toy around with sub. I finally figured it out u have to change one guy at a time.then go look at stats screen.it will of course change to the guy u subbed in.it had Otis smith with 3 picks.so I subbed deion back in and rechecked and still had smith with 3 picksWent back in subbed deion back out again checked again and it had deions numbers right again and I had him on the bench. I did the same thing with Jones at lb and it worked.u can only swap one guy at a time and it happens to be a total of 3 times in and out of change screen with the same 2 players. also keep checking stats screen. I spent a lot of time with this and I tried several different swaps on d with players and positions. If you do the swap 3 times and it must be the same 2 players, u can sub properly and keep there stats and not worry bout injuries to star players in blowouts...it's a lil more work but I narrowed it down to 3 moves lolI hope this helps for anyone still enjoying this game... slim_jimmy7
Interesting, it is a really annoying issue, you are successful with this every time?
tecmoalpha
Yes but it is what it is. I like to set my defense in every possible formation. Goaline, normal...etc. all this means is u can't go in swapping deion out then bring him to the nickel or dime defensive back all in one change scenario..if u do and then check stats page it goes haywire it may give ur stats to a backup safety then it is confusing to try and vert the stats back to the proper player.if u sub one for one back and fourth with only those 2 spots at a time it works everytime. And I also got it to work for a DL and safety..so finally one can go into garbage time and the cpu can get some cheap points or u can get good practice perfecting ur backups performance...I love tsb3 in hd
johnnyrocker
Wait... you can set your defense to be different in each formation and stay that way? Anytime I've tried to do this it hasn't worked. For example, I've tried to make Kevin Greene the LB in Dime packages instead of Chad Brown, but when I do that it switches them in every formation, not just Dime. Did I read what you said wrong or is there a way of doing this that I don't know about?
tecmoalpha
No man I was talking about subbing without losing the in game statistics of that player. As far as what your saying..No you can't save changes in formations offensively or defensive..if Kevin green is your first outside linebacker in a normal 3-4 defense then he can only be in your goaline and nickel formations at the same first linebacker position..off you go to dime and put him as the middle linebacker then he will then no longer be available in goaline or nickel..u can always just sub him in and out but it's time consuming...the game won't save defensive formation adjustments.. tecmoalpha
I love that you can change formations even tho it doesn't save cuz it's still very useful if one is not familiar with play books and such...I always use 2 different formations with my offenses and depending on the team sometimes 3.it all depends on the personnel I have and if you experiment a lot with this game you will find some cool shit out. For instance I'm the jets...I have 2 really good TEs and the 2 TE formation is okay as far as the running plays..but the pass plays suck in that package so I simply hybrid my set...I will use one play book pro set formation run and pass...2nd play book I will use 2 TE package for only runs...and I will set my passes to 1 set back or maybe R&S OR EVEN SHOTGUN..All it does is allow my 2nd TE kyle Brady to split off the line and become my 3rd reciever and there is plenty of plays from those sets..now if I run I can audible him back on the line and u have seven blockers in front so even if my opponent can now tell when I'm gunna run or pass from those 2 formations it doesn't matter really..if u play goaline I'm gunna have my 7 up front to block so no worries...and the cpu sux so it's fun to really be creative with this game it was ahead of its time and still so very addictive... TecSpectre
Do you have to check the stats screen each time you sub out, or do you just make the switch three times and then you're ok? Also... as to stat things... I recently (I being a plural I meaning another guy in the NFTGL that was reviewing player stats) that TE's do not record return yardage in the game. So you can return all game every game with a TE and it doesn't show up in the stats info or on the player bio page in season team data. One other interesting point: On Sega Genesis, if you review the stats during a game by selecting stats, it will often (always, i don't recall as it's been a while) delete all stats up to that point in the game. So don't ever do that
tecmoalpha
I always check the stats in between each sub in/out to get the guaranteed rotated stats swap. I also left out that when u swap it may rotate between two other players(ur backup safety and the player ur subbing for) in between the multiple swaps.but just keep swapping the starter for the intended backup even if it shows the backup safety getting the stats...The stats WILL go back to your starter and your backup will be in...remember this works for also linebacker and safety I normally don't have issues swapping DL
tecmoalpha
I like how the genesis stats page comes up and that's good info to know..I just can't bring myself to getting into a season on that version..it has some nice cut scenes and a few pros (MORE CONS) but I get tired of the cpu audibles every 5 secs and when I try returning a punt the cpu hits my returner and no one can ever pick up the football and then the time expires and it's a never ending loop of drones crowded around the ball just hitting each other...sega for ya TecSpectre

tecmoalpha
That's crazy, I guess in all my years playing this game regardless season mode or just vs another human I may have never used a TE as a returner..there is always something about this game that gets discovered it seems

SNES has some crazy glitches, but nothing like that... the closest thing is when the defending player tries to change his linup on a 2-pt conversion attempt and it freezes the game.I grew up with the genesis version, and we just dealt with that. But after switching to the SNES I'll likely never go back. I played half a man game one night with a buddy and it was almost laughable how much different it is. I love the cut scenes in sega though.
