March Madness: multiple locations and a final four

For some, travel is an issue when it comes to tournaments. It costs money to fly, and some of the bigger tournaments aren't in locations that have cheaper flights.

March Madness doesn't host all the games in one place. What if there were a TSB tournament that took place in multiple venues simultaneously? I'd be much more likely to enter a large field if I could be in the West bracket. Even if the Sweet 16 (let alone Final 4) advanced to a central location, it would cut down on travel expenses for many, while still giving people the opportunity to win it all.

Tecmo Super Bowl tournaments are held in places where people are willing to hold them.  If it's a public event then typically anyone can enter up to the point of a participation limit.

TecmoMadison will track tournaments if you send them information and will seed you at their tournament accordingly.

At this point someone hasn't put together the sponsorship or come forward to simply pay for putting on tournaments all over the country.  I get that it would be more conveinient for you to not have to travel to a large Tecmo Super Bowl tournament.

I see you're out of California, specifically the Bay area.  Are you or someone you know willing to organize a 64 person Tecmo Super Bowl tournament? Did you go to the LA tournament?

I'm kind of new to all that. A friend of mine puts on Rockage every year, and I tried to get them to have a TSB tournament, but I don't think it's happening. I guess I'll find out when I get there.

I listened to the podcast some of y'all did last week (never would have guessed that that's how to pronounce "Knobbe"), and I totally get that the tournaments are a lot of fun because of the people. I don't know that I want to travel that far to get blown out. I'd rather start out by playing a few games online, maybe joining an online league. The only thing holding that up is time. What I do have time for is reading the forums, playing Gridiron Heroes, and just generally trying to figure out the culture of your site. Someday ... .

Bring a NES and a TV and take on all comers.

Get a list of guys. If you're lucky you might find someone who likes Tecmo and would be willing to put on something.

The first tourney I put on was maybe 12 people. A lot of college friends in that one. The first Madison tourney was 20 guys. I'd assume that most of them were friends of the guys putting on the tourney.

As far as regions go, it's probably not a co-incidence that there are a lot more Tecmo tournaments/players in cold weather areas.

It's somewhat remarkable about how far this thing has come to see a post like this considering the number of Tecmo Tournaments I knew about 10 years ago. Truly remarkable.

Has someone made an 8-bit, midi sound file of the CBS NCAA Basketball theme song? Nothing gets you going during the college basketball season than that little jingle. Can't imagine how pumped up we would get after hearing that Tecmo-style.

If someone can point me to a midi, i can convert it to 8-bit
