created qb question

Hey guys does anyone know why whenever I create a qb and play through a season it's like on every time I drop back to pass my wideouts, only on deep routs, always cut it short...I still manage to put up great numbers through out the season but if my recievers Don't get a catch and run td, then I don't get deep td passes...

For my attributes I have all run speeds set on 31.. passing speed 69 pa and pc at 50 and ar is 31 and coolness 69..everything else like bb hp and ag are all 6...is that what's causing my qb to not be able to throw the deep ball? One of those 3 attributes? I've noticed even backup qbs

With worse attributes can even throw further then me it really annoys me that even if I have talented recievers on my team they break there deep rout for my qb

Does anyone have a clue or maybe have seen

This themselves...u can have very high ps pc and pa and ur passes will go about 20 yards when it should be fifty...

In my experience with created players, they don't seem to play the same as players in the game with the same stats.


 


I don't have a good answer for you on this one though. I stopped delving into created players a while back because they are just a huge pain in the butt.

I know in other sims like Baseball Simulator 1.000 that created players only use the stats you see, whereas in-game players have "hidden" attributes. (The pitcher BERT on the All-Stars is a famous example.)


 


I start my quarterbacks with 88 PS, then 88 PC, then 88 MS, in that order. I tend to only train one stat at a time with my TSBIII players. Given that we're talking about a 16-bit game, I wouldn't expect receivers to act differently because of how the QB is configured. There is something to when WRs stop on a route, although they do eventually go again if it's a go route. Typically if the WR does this it seems he just turns around before going at all. Sometimes it means the RB is further out than the WR if you can't wait for the WR to get going. Regardless of that, invariably he seems to start going right when I pass, which seems to result in an overthrow and a pick if the DB was waiting for the WR. I throw more picks this way, outside of picked plays.


 


A deep recess of my brain is telling me to push R (SNES) to send a stopped receiver, but I don't know whether it's true. I never use L and R on that controller.


 


To the other comment, I've never tried making a player exactly like an in-game player to make comparisons. Would be interesting to see what happens.
