Finally finished! TSBXL2006 SNES style!!!! 8)

What's in.........

1) 28 teams of course!

2) Small helmets modernized! (I'm not that good at the graphics, but they're not too shabby)

3) Graphics in the game have been changed in certain areas......

A) Start game screen. I added the Seahawks and Steelers helmets along with the SBXL logo.

 When you auto SKP games. I made the Pro Football HOF. (My personal favorite.

C) overhauled the look of the entire football field, plus added the XL logo to it. I also took all the names out of the endzones, and made them all a standard light gray in color.

4) Changed some of the text in the game, nothing major!

5) Moved teams around
AFC EAST - BUF,IND,MIA,NE and TEN
AFC NORTH- CIN,CLE,BAL and PIT
AFC WEST- DEN,KC,OAK,SD and JAX
NFC EAST- DAL,NYG,PHI,ATL and WAS
NFC NORTH- CHI,DET,GB,MIN and TB
NFC WEST- CAR,STL,SEA and ARZ

I put alot of thought into this format and this one made the most sense to me.

6) Terrell Owens is in the house! I put him in as a starter. He deserves it, regardless of what happened. The man was off to a phenomonal start. I also made Priest holmes the third RB on the Chiefs. Same reason, he was doing fairly well also. Rosters are always a personal preference anyway. Adjust them to your liking.

7) I mostly took stats from the original SNES. But, I toned down the speed a tad bit. I played several match-ups everynight and had some damn good games as I finished each position. The ratings are also personal preference. Example.....

In reality, Willie Parker of the Steelers is probably way faster than most "Elite" backs in the NFL. On TSB, the MS for a RB is his most important attribute. So to go with the laws of TSB, Guys like Shaun Alexander and Tiki Barber got MS ratings of 50 in the game and guys like Willie Parker and Brian Westbrook got 38? I think! In my opinion, QB's and RB's are the hardest guys to rate, especially RB's.

Things out............

1) Graphics.

A) Took all the big helmets out! (I tried to edit these, I have no clue! my skills are not that complete yet.

B) Took the menu graphics out (The brick look and so on)

C) No JETS, TEXANS, SAINTS and 49ers in the game.

Enough of my jabbering 8) Enjoy the game!

C) No [. . .] 49ers in the game.

We weren't even among the 4 worst teams in the league this year. I hate you.

Three main concerns:

1) The number icons above the players heads are gone

2) I like the backgrounds you took out

3) Ratings leave a lot to be desired

Otherwise, I am highly impressed with this rom. The Super Bowl logo is great.

Thanks Bad Moon! I forgot to mention That I took the Icons out. I play only in COA mode as you already know, so it cleans up the look as far as that goes. It could make it interesting for MAN v.s. MAN games though, think about it. As far as the ratings go, everyone here knows how that is, personal preference. If you like the rom, then you have the pieces in place, just tweak them to your liking. I'll probably change ratings as I play a full season. I need to get a feel for it first. Glad you gave it a try! B)

bump INT and WR MS up a notch globally and you should be ok.

and let's be honest, roethlisberger wasn't the 3rd best qb.

Sorry man! If they would've pulled off them two games they should've won against Dallas and Seattle, they would've made it in my book. Check out this link, and go to the "hall of shame". http://home.earthlink.net/~ob1gui/

My "problem" with the ratings wasn't really your judgment on any of the players, but there doesn't seem to be a huge differential between them. Part of the excitement I find in checking out roms is to see how each person rates players. For example, the highest receivers were 56 REC, when on the SNES version, middle of the road receivers have that rating.

I'm just elated to see a SNES rom.

And yes, it is very interesting without the icons... especially when you pass the ball...

I know you like the SNES my friend! Here's the method behind my madness.......

Randle El on the rom has a REC of 38. When I was play testing, he was still catching everything thrown at him, at that particular time. In other games he was dropping the ball more. All in the AVG state. I was just tired of the guys like Jerry Rice and so on, who catch anything at anytime, no matter what (even though he was a stud!). In a way, it can be challenging against you, when a guy has like a 75 or 69 REC, because you can't stop him. But when you use him, that's where he becomes too dominating and you're getting 2000 - 3000 yard rec seasons. Takes the fun out in my book.

I try to keep the quick, exciting gameplay that TSB offers. Then, add a somewhat realistic standpoint to the statistics portion of the game. When I play tested, I used the Steelers v.s. Seahawks almost everytime. I won 5 out of 6 games. Each time I fufilled a positions ratings it got more and more interesting. The very last game I played before the release, I used the Seahawks. I won 28 - 17 Alexander had 22 carries for 123 yards and 2 TD's. Willie parker had 16 carries for 77 yards 1 TD. BigBen was 63% 147 yards and 1 TD. Hasselbeck was 54% 189 yards and 1 TD. That's just an example of what I look for. Details like that are huge to me. I beat the Browns 35-3! That's realistic!!!

Thanks for the feedback Bad Moon and Soby. When I actually start playing the rom more, I'm sure I'll see something that bothers me. It's a neverending process, as I'm sure most people know!

I'm a little curious as to why you decided to put the Chargers in a throwback uniform resembling something from the mid-70's, and not the version from the 60's that they've actually been wearing. Not really a complaint per-se, but it just seems odd. It does make them unique though, so I'll give you that.

I didn't realize that! :) I just like the baby blue color!

For all those who tried this rom, I would go with what Soby suggested and up the WR MS one notch globally. Everything else, I haven't had a problem with. I won the first season with the Steelers going 14-1-1. I beat the Seahawks 20-12 in the SuperBowl. Two awesome 1st down and goal line stuffs of Shaun Alexander. 8)

Great to see an SNES version, as I really loved that game.

You said you had Seahawks-Steelers in the SB - does that mean you've updated the sim code? Because those old Seahawks were not a SB team...

Thanks! Yes, the sim code for the overall team records is done. When I skipped through all three years, the Steelers went to the SuperBowl all three times and won it the first two. Seattle never made it to the SuperBowl when I auto skipped, but always remained one of the top teams. The Seahawks faced me in my first season attempt at the SuperBowl. When I win a superbowl, I always use the team with the worst record next. The Browns went 2-14, so they are the lucky team. I'm 1-3 right now with them.

As Soby suggested, up the WR MS one notch for each guy globally. I'm starting to lean towards his INT suggestion as well.

I beg to differ on this one. One of the most consistent QB's. Doesn't make too many mistakes. He was third in the overall rating, slightly above Hasselbeck. Played in 4 less games than Manning, Palmer and Hasselbeck and was playing hurt almost the whole season. Bad knee and a screwed up thumb. He definitely went out there and out performed Manning in the playoffs. As far as Palmer goes, who knows? He did play like shit in the SuperBowl!

Finally getting a chance to play this, and it's great. A couple of thoughts:

I kind of like the low receptions for WRs - adds some more challenge to the game. I'm playing the Packers and Antonio Chatman is basically useless, but that just means it's harder to blow away the computer. Of course, I may enjoy this less as the season progresses.

Not having the pointers is a bit problematic. It makes the play action plays really strong. Further, and more importantly, since there's no FG pointer kicks are basically random. This is not cool, esp. since XPs are eminently missable on the SNES.

Really like this, though - thanks for all the hard work, it's pretty clear a lot went into this one.

The version you requested is up on the 1st page. As far as the sim goes... I didn't do any of the players, just the team OFF & DEF. It does get some wacky sim results though. some things that could affect the teams simming properly are.....

1) Lack of an accurate schedule
2) The placement of the teams
3) Lack of doing it entirely ( I really didn't and don't feel like it at the time)

I might do the three schedules. I love doing schedules!!!! If you want to do the sim code, feel free to redit and repost. 8) Here's a site for anyone interested in easy schedule making.....
