BubsterSix
Just wondering, has anyone ever applied the PC/PA hack to the original ROM? If so, where can I find it? If not, I think it would be a good idea. Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of hacking experience but it doesn't seem too difficult, simply apply the hack and switch the PA and PC ratings for all the QBs. buck
an even better idea is to apply the "pc/pa hack" and then swap what pc and pa does with some other code....because that's how I think the QBs were rated. see this thread.... http://tecmobowl.org/topic/55328-possible-to-swap-pc-and-pa-nes-tsb/?hl=%2Bpass+%2Bcontrol+%2Baccuracy#entry364569 standby and I will post a rom. buck
see attached .nes file. it has the PC/PA hack applied, but changed for PC to be "comp/int variable" and PA is "target ability". BubsterSix
I am having one problem with the rom. It won't save season data. This isn't major because I can use save states, but it would be nice if it saved automatically. If it's not too much trouble could you fix this? Try this one, I just went and freshly downloaded the original rom from the site here and applied the hack. Tell me if this works. BubsterSix
I tried it out and it still won't save. Oh well, I'll just use save states. Thanks very much for all you've done.

Thanks very much for all you've done. ok, then there is a problem with the downloadable version, because I can't see how the PA PC hack can affect battery ram! can you download this http://tecmobowl.org/files/getdownload/854-tecmo-super-bowl/ and see if save works? we might help the site out here. anyways, I used the "tpc original" (this is the original one that everybody uses online) TSB rom and applied the hack - see attached and tell me if this one battery saves. tpc_original TSB PCPA Reversed.nes
Knobbe
The problem is that you're using the TPC rom where having a SAV file means that you'll desync when you play across the network. Part of the ines header for any NES rom specifies whether or not there is a battery for saving stuff on power off. See this document for reference how ines works. http://nesdev.com/neshdr20.txt The byte located at 00006 is used to indicate the mapper and Switch for the rom. The mapper for TSB is MMC3, which makes the first part of the byte 4. If we want the battery disabled, you would set the byte to 40 If we want the battery enabled, you would set the byte to 42 You can fix any TSB rom using this handy program or via hex editor I've thought about re-writing all the roms on this site before but it seems like a lot more could go wrong with that..... buck
buck
excellent, knobbe. however I was initially using the Tecmo Super Bowl (U) as available from this site. so it also has byte 0x0006 set at x40. you might want to address this. edit - that's funny FCEUX won't let me edit the header!
