Better COM vs COM Coverage??

Hey all;


 


I run a COM vs COM league and one thing Im looking to add is better Coverage for defenses against the pass. I notice that alot of the hacks that give better coverage are just for MAN vs COM games. I was wondering if there is a way I can make the COM Coverage better esp during COM vs COM games?


 


Would Juice help with this? I tried some of the Late Season Coverage stuff but it seems to only work when its MAN vs COM. Maybe thats just me but it doesnt look like it changes much of the coverage for COM vs COM games.


 


Any help is appreciated.

I'm sure it's possible, but it either hasn't been found or just not documented.  If you're using the "throw to open receiver" hack, that would be a killer in COM vs. COM mode. 


 


Great job on that league, btw.  I was reading through some of the "custom" rosters a few months ago and some of those names are pretty funny.

Yeah we applied the "Throw to Open Receiver" hack as the big complaint in Season 1 was that QBs were just too dumb. But now they seem very strong and just looking for a way to up the Secondary. Might give them extra pts next season to control the secondary.


 


Thanks for the good words regarding TFO. I just wanted to make my own custom Rom and things have snowballed (lol). I let all the owners make their own teams so whatever they want they get (hence why Barry Sanders is a Greek Legend lol)

Still banging my head on this. I like the "Throw to Open Receiver" hack, but the Juice only works if a MAN is playing; my league is COM vs COM. If you have any idea how to improve the defense coverage (esp against the pass) in a COM vs COM game hit me up and let me know. Im experimenting with adding more pts to the Safeties (making them faster and better interceptors) but the real issue is total broken coverage as the "Throw to Open Receiver" will always see the open man and make the pass.


 


Any input on this would be awesome! Ill be releasing TFO 2014 rom as soon as the season is over (6 weeks from now) so at that point Ill probably re-ask. Feel the rom is there just needs better coverage.

The open WR hack should be adjusted so that it doesn't ALWAYS throw to the open WR. Just sometimes. 

or better yet . . . the frequency at which a COM QB uses the "open WR" hack is determined by his PA or PC rating.

Mojo hack only helps in MAN games. COM vs COM does not take the Mojo into effect.


 


Im going to look over the "Throw to Open Receiver" hack and see about making the target area smaller. I got some ideas just wish it was as easy to change the Mojo like in MAN games. Would love for games to get harder for COM as they gain more wins (just like MAN in season games)

I like the QB using the Open Receiver, it feels like real football as he would obviously throw to the open guy (unless the QB is under pressure). If only the defense would cover the defenders better (like in Mojo) that would change things for me drastically.

Aside from not using the "Throw to Open Receiver" hack or someone figuring out a COM vs. COM "mojo" hack, here's some additional ideas...


 


1. Cap the OL HP to allow DL to break in more.  Better yet, use the OL/DL random popcorn hack which will accomplish the same.  Or both.  Either of these would force the QB to throw quicker or increase the chance of a sack and decrease the success rate of pass plays.


 


2. Go in and change all defensive reactions for all pass plays so that receivers are covered.  An easier option would be to use TSB Playmaker and change the defense reaction bytes.  Using the example below...(pass slot 1)...5F is your blitz byte.  B7 is how the DEF will react if the D calls a pass.  B5 and B6 are DEF reactions if the D picks a run.  You can change the B5 and B6 to B7 for better pass coverage.  You can even add extra blitzes.

Love the Playmaker Idea but I use the 28 team rom and it looks like Playmaker is a 32 team rom program (tried it on my rom and it gave errors).


 


But I like the idea, in theory, so I think Ill try manually editing the plays. Little more work but I think it is manageable :)

It should work with the 28 team ROM as well.  If it doesn't, you can always change the values using a hex editor.

Use a hex editor for this.  Defensive reactions start at 1DC10 for Run and 1DD10 for Pass.  It's fairly easy to pick out the blitz byte.

Sorry the last quote was to say I did already change them in HEX. I was able to find them with a few searches. Now when a offensive play is selected the defense only have 4 plays really to pick from as the Pass plays will mirror the Run plays and visa versa :) In my testing it looks to be working alot better esp with the 2 blitzes :)

Ok so the 2 blitzes seemed too powerful, but having the run defenses be pass defenses has helped alot and still keeps the Tecmo feel. Def think Im going to use this for my 2015 Rom :) Thanks !
