TecSpectre
So... most of the posts on this board get a decent amount of views, some even get a decent amount of posts. But i'm curious, do you actually play TSB3? Is it your preferred version of tecmo? Snes - TSB3 is my preferred version of tecmo. I also play nes tsb and play TSB3 online. So if you do play... represent... and maybe add how you play.

slim_jimmy7
My brothers and I used to run 6-8 weeks into the season, than pick the last place teams in each division and try and turn the divisions upside down. It's pretty intense trying to win 8 or 9 straight to squeak into the playoffs.
joelcsuh
The SNES version of TSBIII is all I play. I like unlocking the hall of famers, the trades, the (somewhat) different schedule every year, etc. Occasionally the CPU will make enough trades to make a team really tough, so that's also fun. One time Montana was on the Panthers, and combined with Barry Foster, I had trouble beating them. I wish someone would make an updated ROM of that version, especially with 32 teams. TecSpectre
The ROM being made is TSB4... it's based on TSB3 but they are changing the AI and the feel of the game. It will be a completely new game in design and feel.I'm with Joel in wanting a base TSB3 32 update. Hell... if I had the know-how and time, It would already be done. Eric
I play TSBIII exclusively. It has ruined all other versions for me, in a good way. What I love about it is the stats. I keep records and log each season in a notebook. What I don't like is how easy it is to beat COM playing offense. For that reason, I rarely use offense. Most of you know I usually play using my DEF-only challenges. I also love INT returns, beating Dallas, and the crazy stuff that happens with the glitches. Glitches allow there to always be something new to discover that's never been seen before. Shlabotnik
Shlabotnik
I'm just starting to get the feel of 3 by playing with the Tecmo Legacy rosters, after playing through the late 60's &70's on NES. I love the expanded playbooks & stats, and I'm learning the glitches (sometimes to my dismay). I play exclusively vs COM, and 3 is far more challenging... -Franchise-
TSB 3 is my favorite and really the only version I play
DeBerg
I would like to make a TSB 1996 one day. Just switch Cleveland out as Baltimore. The expansion teams are already there. Would be awesome to play with that stacked GB team and that one good Carolina team before the 2000's.
rmm1976
I used to like TSB3 SNES, but not as much as TSB NES or TSB SNES. It's a great game, but annoying how much high HP on a running back (ie. Heyward) can dominate on offense.
DeBerg
TSB II on SNES is my favorite. It's the hardest of the trilogy, and the only one with 3 full seasons to play with. I still play TSB III a lot. In my eyes, it's an easier version of II, with two major improvements; the COM no longer does that stupid 2 point conversion randomly when down only by 7 points, and the 2 point conversion itself has a full playbook and not just 4 bad plays to choose from. But on the downside, the field goal has become confusing, the computer is too easy this time around (Try II and you'll see the computer is actually tough) and it's the most glitch filled of all the SNES games. But the glitches are one of the reasons I love this game. TSB II don't have that many glitches. I'm in my 4th season and only discovered like 2 or 3 of them and they aren't even worth making a topic over.
TSBforever
I love III on Genesis. I take more pleasure in building my teams and letting them play out themselves than actually 'playing' the game. Utilizing the trades, I'll build super teams with all of the highest rated players in the game, yet I'll somehow still go like 8-8 if I choose SKP for the season. However, if I choose COM for the season, than my team seems to do a lot better. I don't know why that is but oh well.

However, if I choose COM for the season, than my team seems to do a lot better. I don't know why that is but oh well. There is an interesting reason for this, assuming it's the same that it is on the SNES (which I'm sure it is). With the games set to SKP, it doesn't matter what players are on the roster: the game looks only at a single number, preassigned to each team and not editable (unless you're hex editing a rom), for how good a team should be. The number is hex 0-15, basically like an individual player rating. Dallas, for example, has a very high number. The Jets don't. So, in a skp game between two teams, the only thing the game is doing is throwing that single number from each team into an algorithm and producing a result - the actual players on the team don't factor in at all. COM games, obviously, pit the actual players against each other and produces results from actual in-game events. So, if you're building rosters and running seasons and want to see which teams are actually the best, COM games are the way to go! Eric21ND
I play TSB3 almost exclusively. The original Tecmo is too dated and unrealistic imo. TSB3 has a certain fun factor to it that I can't even explain, no other football game has that magical quality. The way I prefer to play is with 4-5 friends and we all take teams within the same division so we play each other a lot. Makes for much more of a challenge. Knobbe
Speaking of the Genesis & SNES versions, what differences are there between the two? Here is a detailed list of player differences The music is different. Whereas I can handle the SNES music on loop, the Genesis music has me turning it or the TV off. The Genesis AI isn't as good....it loves to run the over the top run way too much and it's possible to fumble while on the ground.

~Tailback King~
Hell no I don't play it................................I dominate it!!!!!! I really don't prefer it because all my childhood heros all have walked into the sunset by 95' (Johnny Johnson, Eric Dickerson, exc...) except ONE!!!!!!!!!!!! Herschel Walker!!! Not only is he in the game, he's like a hidden Superman with hidden stats to spare!!! If you look hard, you'll find him on the GIANTS, and is one of the best players in the game. Don't believe me, take the HERSCHEL CHALLENGE and play a season with New York...bench whoever's starting, and put him in starting Tailback.....and then bench your starting Kick returner and stick him in there as well................That's the HERSCHEL CHALLENGE...take it if you got the guts...you may be suprized. kamphuna8
TecSpectre
Tailback... the big issue with Herschel on that giants team is that he's not Rodney Hampton who is a much better RB in the game. Herschel offers a lot though, especially on that team which lacks many things.

Herschel offers a lot though, especially on that team which lacks many things. That's why it's a challenge...........Herschel might not be as good in the game as Hampton, but he's more than capable of leading that team to a Superbowl victory...When I use them in a season, or play my cousin, (he's the only person I know who owns that copy) I put them both in at the same time and run them outta a pro set or a power 'I' package.......there pretty hard to stop. Especially when Walker repeatedly gets me past the 50 or better on kick returns. (that is when he doesn't house it!)

I've been wondering what it is about Tecmo that makes so much more fun to play? In those old Electronic Gaming Monthly magazines they used to rate games and one of the ratings was "Fun Factor", for whatever reason Tecmo is off the chart in that regard, especially when playing it with a bunch of friends.
