Eric
I was wondering when it is decided that a fumble would occur. Would it be at the point the ball carrier is tackled? But then I started thinking back to my experiences. It seems like the tackle and the fumble/ball carrier falls down are two different outcomes. One strategy I have in my DEF Only challenges for getting fumbles is allowing grapples with opposing players I do not fear (punters, QBs, returners) to go on until my COM controlled players end the play. It seems that the longer the grapple persists, the better the chance it will end in a fumble. I'm just trying to wrap my mind around why that is. bruddog
At least on the TSB nes version it checks for a fumble after it has been determined a tackle is about to occur. So if you win every grapple and dont get dive tackled or tackled on an assist you can never fumble. Its possible the code for tsb 3 is different but seems unlikely
Dusto
Ah that's interesting to know (for the NES). Just observing the game I assumed the same thing as Eric, that you fumbled durring the grapple. You're saying that the fumble occurs as part of the lost grapple more or less. So if not the fumble my guy would have been tackled.

Is it possible that the longer a grapple goes on that the chance it results in a fumble increases? This is something I believe happens.
