The 12 days of Tecmo Bowl

My buddy Nate and I have 628 documented games of Tecmo Bowl played since about October of 2005.  The original Tecmo Bowl takes about 25-30 minutes to play a game.

For those keeping score at home, 628 games at about 27 minutes and 30 seconds each, would roughly be the equivalent of playing Tecmo Bowl for 12 straight days!

On at least 4 different occasions we did a 20+ game marathon which ate up a day and half.  Countless get-togethers where we plowed through 12 games(6 hours) in one night.  Burnt up a whole forth of July afternoon in 2006(?) with about 13 games.  Blazed through quite a few 5 to 6 hour Saturday night marathons, which wrapped up at 2AM....then we would sit around for another freaking hour just talking match-ups, and situational stuff, and things like that.  About 90% of the time we played at his place.  He got married before I did and had kids, and it was just easier for me to go to his place.  Only once did I get kicked out of his house on account of Tecmo Bowl.

People will throw around numbers of "hundreds of games" they supposedly played.  From a guy who has played close to 700 games in 10 years, I have a strong realization about just what kind of a time investment that actually is.

I've still got to piece together our spreadsheet from 2004, but I'm expecting maybe 40-50 more games from that era between the 2 of us.  Spring of 2004 was the year where myself and 3 other guys got back into playing pretty heavily.  2 of those guys eventually moved away, and so from late 2005 on, it's really just been us 2.

what strategies have you learned from this and who is the best of your friends?

See this thread here... http://tecmobowl.org/topic/52447-the-ultimate-tecmo-bowl-strategy-guide/

I've got to add some stuff to the thread, but this really breaks down how we slow down offenses.  I need to also get some video posted for how to be a good QB in Tecmo as well.

For us American player's I'm the better of the 2.  Of the 2 Canadian players, they seem pretty equal, but one of them (TB.org poster "Bo knows") really NEVER throws interceptions.  So I gotta give him the edge there.  Of the group of 4, I certainly think Bo knows is the best of the 4 of us.
