Can anyone think of any decent noteable players missing from the original? Im finalizing my rom and wanna know if im missing anyone super important from that year? lemme know what yas got

nice thread. I don't have anything to add at this point, but I like the idea going here and I will do some looking.  

 

and I'm assuming you're looking for '91 stuff, instead of '90 stuff (because like bodong said, the game is mostly based off of '90)

Well i was diving into mostly the 90's i got sharpe in there as well as terry allen on the vikingss i forgot about him, i may do a 91 rom but im undecided yet what is everyones thoughts about dexter manley he was a beast back in the day for washington but he got traded to the cards i believe in 1990 is he worthy enough?

There's a rom already made like this. It has all of the proper players for 1990. Sblueman made it back in 06'. You could go that route. It's in the download section page twelve I believe.

When making roms don't confuse two years. The game was created after the 1990 season and was supposed to be a projection of how the 1991 season would turn out. No rookies would have been included because there is no way to know before the season starts what impact any rookies might have. Either make a rom of the 1990 season, or make a rom of the 1991 season, or even do both if you want, but don't mix them together.

EXACTLY..........Ricky Waters & Leonard Russell were in a different class than Johnny Johnson & Emmitt Smith........Tecmo Superbowl had nothin' to do with 1991 rookies.  Fact.

There's thread in the WTFC archive of players that were left out of the game to start. Just search "WTFC supplemental draft" and you'd be able to find a good list to work with.

I stuck with only 1990 players i also made neil o donnell and barry foster but they arent starters. One flaw i noticed in tecmo is that didnt vince evans backup jay schroeder in 1990?

This thread has me looking through stats from 1990.  Funny how Grogan only started 4 games, Wilson and Hodson both started 6.  Tecmo probably gave Grogan the nod because he's the only one to get a win.  Barely!  My God they were awful. 

Even John Stephens joined the fierce passing attack by going 0 for 1 with a pick. 

 

No * or + needed for this crew.

Anyhow so if i put hebert in the game should i start him or sit him since he didnt play in 1990 and also what player should his stats resemble?

I got hooked on Sim stats about a year ago, and decided to make a rom simulating the 1990 season. Therefore I've been checking stats and such... a lot! If two players had similar amount of games played I did give a nod to those who contributed the most (and if that too were resonably even, the player who contributed the most at the end of the season got the spot). I kept Grogan because of that one win and his Tecmo cult status. Keith Millard (four games, due to injury) kept his place due to his two previous Pro Bowl seasons...

Holy jesus i just found out someone who is missing! One of the biggest draft busts of all time Aundray Bruce! Wow what an awesome LB he could have been i guess he was better off as a TE

M.D. Perry (fridge's bro?) and Dickerson were the 2 most notable omissions. Dickerson was out part of the year and had a contract or suspension issue, which would likely explain his absence. No idea why Perry was left out though.

Bumping this thread.

 

I got to thinking because of the Long HSTL wait list.  How could we expand the # of teams in HSTL?  (The correct answer is you can't, Don't mess with the Original Rom Asshole!)  

 

But if this league wasn't the HSTL and wanted to expand to 4 more teams.  Who would fill this roster of players from 1990?  How would they be rated? Sure there would be some good players like Dickerson, Dean Perry but also would have to be a lot of guys that would be worse than Andre Waters right?  

 

I just grabbed the Vikes roster as that's who I know best and here were guys that would probably make Free Agent Pool

 

John Randle DT - Didn't do shit that season, but at least its a brand name.

Ken Clarke DT - Can't remember the guy but he had 7 sacks 

Donald Igwebuike K - 14 of 16 in FGs only missing 2 over 40 yards.  I remember him probably the most, his name was a novelty in MN when he was here.  I think he almost went to jail for heroin smuggling too.
