I've went back to the road to finally win a Super Bowl with the scrubbiest favorite of the bunch. De Berg, Cobb, Dawsey and Hawkins.

One of my biggest issue was running the ball with Tampa. Either A. Reggie Cobb gets hurt, or B. It's just a pain in the ass to run it, and much easier to throw with De Berg. After reading Tail Back King's posts, I became inspired more to keep pushing to run the ball and so far in 4 games Cobb has 457 total yards rushing and I am very surprised by this.

Detroit was a huge pain in the ass for me, but I got over them for a nice 4-0 start. The Lions always seem to give me a hard time with Tampa Bay, and I have to depend on Rodney Peete's famous interception or fumble to get extra points.

Even though my offense is starting to work better around the run, my defense seems to be suffering. Ranked #2 but in the second half of games they can give up a lot of yards and let teams come back into the game.

Chicago is next and I'll probably lose that one, but I'm still going to win a Super Bowl with this team!

Although his stats are nowhere near as good as they were in the original NES version of TSB, try using Gary Anderson...Halfback #40...he's a really good player who likes to stay on EXELLENT if he gets the ball...(also try returning kicks with him)...but the down side is that he gets hurt alot, just like in real life...but if Cobb is hurt, there aren't a lot of options. Good luck! {p.s. I don't know what plays you use, but try putting Gary Anderson in the second runningback position, then go to playbook...change the last running play (the one all the way to the right) to the double back set where Reggie Cobb lead blocks through the middle for Gary Anderson...Follow Cobb till he makes contact, then make a sharp cut right off his hipp (right or left diagonal) and he can spring you for a big gain. Cobb has devastating blocks, and sometimes goes right through the defender!}

I finally done it I won the Super Bowl with Tampa Bay!!!!

I finished the 1992 season 13-3. I went from being the worst ranked Run offense (500 and something yards last season) to 24th as Reggie Cob had 1,267 total yards on the season.

Defense finished ranked #1 overall, #1 against the pass, #2 against the run.

I lost to Green Bay, Atlanta and Chicago.

The Bears beat me in Overtime 13-3. Against Atlanta I had a really shitty game and lost 7-16, against GB, I came back from being down 3-14 only to lose 21-31 when Sharpe ran up the score on me (pay back since I always run it up on everyone else)

In the Playoffs I had the Number 2 seed while Dallas (14-2) got the first slot. I had to play Atlanta (again) since they some how beat the Niners in the wild card. I was worried at first but couldn't believe how easy it was. I was up 17-0 on them before they even scored and went on to win easily 33-14. Next was the Saints, whom I shut out 21-0 in the regular season, this time I really wiped the floor with them as Wade Wilson fumbled a record 4 times and I won 35-17. I was shocked the Saints even got past Dallas, who I had a bad feeling about playing in the NFC title game.

In the Super Bowl I was hoping I would get Houston as a rematch for beating me 13-10 at the last second in my second Tampa season, but instead some how some way the damn Dolphins went 10-6, and Indianapolis went 9-7 and beat out Buffalo for the playoffs. No clue how but the 14-2 Oilers blew it against the Dolphins 26-24, then Miami destroyed Jeff George (4 INT) in the AFC Championship 24-7.

So what happens in the Super Bowl?

DOLPHINS 7
BUCCANEERS 40

Best Super Bowl performance I have ever had.

Opened the game winning the toss and with Cobb, I scored on the opening possession 7-0.

Dolphins first possession and Higgs fumbled the ball at their own 10 yard line, this lead to another run in by Cobb, 14-0.

Dolphins next possession Marino airs it out, gets down to the red zone and on a 3rd and goal he throws an interception at the 3 yardline right into Convington's hands. I was floored, never got a pick in the Super Bowl and I think I had a total of 6 INTs the entire season.

Reggie Cobb then broke a 70 yard run after a De Berg to Dawsey hook up and now it's 21-0

Dolphins managed to score going for it on 4th down as the 2nd half ended

21-7 at half time.

In the second half, some reason they wanted to run it instead of airing it out. We both traded punts, and then at the end of the 3rd quarter De Berg to Cobb, who broke a tackle and takes it 35 yards clinched the game winner 28-7 going into the 4th quarter.

Dolphins next possession Marino gets sacked 4 times in a row equaling a safety 30-7

Dolphins on side kick it and very next play, De Berg hooks up with Hawkins to run the score up 37-7

At the end of the game, Miami can't convert a 4th down and I just kicked a field goal to run it up even more 40-7.

Cobb finished the game with 128 total yards on 10 carries, SUPER BOWL MVP

De Berg competed 63% for 102 yards 2 TDs and 0 INT

Marino was held to 33% completion and only 47 total yards 0 TDs and 1 INT.

Defense and run game wins championships!!!!

Next season to win the Super Bowl will be the Rams!

 I have never went undefeated with them, but normally when I lose it's a really really close game.

I've only lost for more than 7 points a handful of times, this season I lost 31-20 to GB, my first season I lost to Detroit 17-14.

My second season where I lost the Super Bowl to the Oilers, all my loses were from 3 points, and always holding the other team to 17 points or less.

Way to go, De Berg! I just finished a 15-1 (I think my only loss was to the Vikings), Super Bowl-winning season with TB and was looking forward to reading others' experiences with the Bucs. I liked the detailed description of the Super Bowl drama. I empathize with the dilemma of when Cobb goes down--who to pound it with? I agree with TailbackKing that Anderson is an option, but actually Vince Workman is nearly identical in ratings, and has a better ability to catch the dump-off. He helped me a lot in my season when Cobb went down (I think twice).

Against the very aggressive teams I found myself circle-scrambling with DeBerg, or Vlasic if he was in better condition, waiting for someone to get open or make a break for a JJ. Ron Hall and Claiborne helped me get out of some tough defensive rushes. That O-line is pretty weak at times.

My Super Bowl MVP, also against Miami, was Mark Vlasic. I found his higher-than-DeBerg passing speed was helpful in finding someone post-scramble. I won 23-3. I wrote down my SB stats and I'll record them here, along with my season stats, later when I get home.

I know this was a while ago, but do you remember what your strategy was on defense?

I had those same strategies with DeBerg! I had to scramble when the run game was stuffed. I never ever used Vlassic, I threw so many intereceptions with him.

On defense, I use the LB Broderick Thomas, he can be a beast if you are using him to get sacks!
