So I'm hacking TSB to make it have a bunch of compiled teams by the Pro Football Hall of Fame and other prestigious organizations. The one exception is the NFL Legends team, which is made up of players who I think are the best in NFL History.

Teams I have so far:

NFL Legends (my team)
NFL All 1960's (Pro Football H.O.F.)
NFL All 1970's (H.O.F.)
NFL All 1980's (H.O.F.)
NFL All 1990's (H.O.F.)
NFL All 2000's (H.O.F.)

However, this project is NOWHERE near done which is why I'm throwing the thread here instead of the ROM's section. When I have a respectable demo, I'll upload it over there and drop a link here.

Here is the roster of my NFL Legends team (and I have no idea how to change the helmet logo either):
Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image

QB's: I think these two go without saying.

RB's: I included LaDainian Tomlinson over others like Barry Sanders and Marshall Faulk for two reasons: One, because he was an insanely hard worker who always put out a good game. Him and Sweetness are the balanced runners, while Jim Brown is my fullback and (reason number two,) Gale Sayers ran around everyone. EVERYONE.

WR's: For the most part, all these guys are possession receivers, especially Swann and Hutson.

TE's: Although he isn't as popular today, Tony G is still producing for the Falcons, and he worked wonders for the Chiefs. Kellen Winslow is about as unanimous as Walter Payton, IMO.

OL's and DL's: Everyone is unanimous here, especially Mean Joe Greene and the Fridge.

K: Honestly, I'm not too sure about Jan. I'm also considering Garo Yepremian, Adam Vinatieri and Sebastian Janikowski.

P: How can I NOT put Ray Guy here?!

LB's: Considering replacing Teddy Hendricks for Derrick Thomas, but the rest are unanimous.

DB's: All are unanimous. Woodson's excellence on the field as well as off of it earned him a place here.

So can I get some feedback that doesn't involve the Colts logo? Thanks! :)

Mike Singletary? He's not even the best ever on the Bears.

Dick Butkus would be #1 in my book. I would even take Urlacher over singletary.

Fridge was a pop star most of his cateer. Need someobe like bruce smith, deacon jones, randy white, or merlin olsen.

Lbs cant really argue against.

Charles woodson??? Most of his success was last 2night years. Dion sanders had 5-7to years as a half the field cb.

I can think of a few players that might get mentioned.
Tom Brady. I hate the guys guts, but no doubt, he's a performer. He has many records and titles to back up his name.

Ed Reed. This guy is nutz. Big time Ball Hawk. Might be fun at safety.

philley: There is no way that Brian Urlacher is better than Mike Singletary. I agree on Dick Butkus, though.

hurricane: Fridge is there due to his impressive speed (at least compared to other DL's of the time and probably today as well). I have been considering replacing someone with Howie Long or Deacon though. And Charles Woodson has always been a great DB since the Raiders drafted him in the late 90's. He was just playing second fiddle to other greats such as Rod Woodson until, like you said, the last couple of years w/ the Packers.

TecmoSuperFan: Thanks for the tip.

I ended up ditching Ted Hendricks for Derrick Thomas. D.T. was faster than L.T. and hit just as hard. I also replaced Lester Hayes with Mel Blount, because Mel was actually leading his defense alongside Mean Joe Greene and Jack Lambert; and (tsk tsk) he didn't use Stickum.

Here are the new players (and also where you can expound on my horrible rating skills):

Also, can someone tell me how to change (or at least edit) the helmet logos? Thanks.

This seems difficult. I for one, would not even put Peyton Manning in the top 5 of quarterbacks, and I'd take Unitas before Montana. His stats may not be equivalent to Joe Cool but it was such a different game back then. With quarterbacks today, i don't think the majority of the elite ones would have stats like they do back in the 60's-80's. Where nowadays it's video game style with 3 QB's passing for 5,000 in one season, back then the run game was so heavy, and even that is hard to sit down and chose who was the best RB, when you have Earl Campbell, Jim Brown, Walter Payton, Emmitt Smith, and Barry Sanders. A while back I started writing an all time roster to the 49ers and I gave up when I started thinking how much different the game has changed over the decades. Mostly I couldn't decide who was their best RB of all time and it was too much of a headache.

One statistical way to compare stats....redundant i know....is to figure the percentage above average for that year. Ie.. 5000 yds divided by 4000 yds...made up numbers....is 25%to above avg in 2012. (5000-4000=1000 / 4000) In 1980, 25% above 3000 would be 3750. Meaning both qbs were equal above average. Nerdy i know. Then take ther yearly percentages and averag( throw out anommalys like highest/ lowest)

I dunno. I think mike singletary is a little overrated. He was good don't get me wrong. But, if you replaced singletary with Urlacher, nobody would have even scored on the bears. Where as if you put singletary on today's bears, I'm telling you he would be better than Briggs. I'm in Chicago and watch all of them.

I have never seen a defensive player take over a game like I have Urlacher. He was in on every play. He just simply WAS the defense and the cardinals couldn't do anything about it. Singletary to my knowledge hadn't had that take over type game. Look at their numbers. Urlacher had 5 ints one season. That more than many DBs in the league.

I'm not saying that Urlacher should replace singletary on your Rom. But I'm saying that the argument could be made that Urlacher is a better linebacker than singletary.

I promised myself I wouldn't join the complainers about your legends roster but Charles Woodson does seem really out of place. I'll pretend you just meant to type "Rod Woodson".

TecmoSuperFan: I might just have to throw you in the credits or something from all these number changes you've given and probably will give me in the near future. Thanks again. :)

Charles Woodson Complainers: I'm not taking him out. Besides, I already replaced Lester Hayes w/ Mel Blount.

Philley: Yeah, I get your point. But Mike is a lot like Hank Aaron in baseball. He didn't have any extremely amazing qualities, but he was CONSISTENT. Brian Urlacher had his forgettable seasons and his legendary ones too, not to mention the 5 pick one. But I've always been one to value consistency over talent.

I've got a new team, one which we can all agree on the players. :P

TSB Legends - Just a compilation of all the best players in the original TSB. The roster goes as follows:

QB's - QB Bills, QB Eagles

Let's face it, Joe Montana is extremely overrated in TSB. The only reason he is held as high on the TSB pedestal as he is is solely because of Jerry Rice. Don't get me wrong, though; he was an excellent QB. But he was in the downfall of his career when TSB was made. Had Tecmo thought this game up at any time in the 80's, Joe Cool would have made this team for sure.

RB's - Bo Jackson, Christian Okoye, Thurman Thomas, Barry Sanders

We pretty much have the shoo-ins as far as Bo and the Nigerian Nightmare (now THAT is an awesome band name) go. Thurman Thomas made it due to his balanced efforts (he's able to dodge a hit as well as take one), and Barry Sanders is much the same.

WR's - Jerry Rice, Henry Ellard, Art Monk, Drew Hill

These guy are basically as good as you can get in any TSB game. Jerry Rice, of course he's going to make it! Henry Ellard is one of the unsung heroes in TSB, being one of the best possession receivers in the game, IMO second only to Jerry Rice Himself. Art Monk was the ringleader of the dangerous WR trio the Redskins had in the early 90's, and Drew Hill is (somehow) faster than Haywood Jeffries, his partner on the great air attack of the late 80's Oilers.

OL's - None at this point.

Someone help me think of some players!

DL's - Howie Long, blank, blank

Check out the message above.

LB's - Lawrence Taylor, Mike Singletary, Derrick Thomas, Greg Lloyd

With the exception of Greg Lloyd, everyone was in their prime when TSB came out. L.T. is THE Field Goal Blocker, at least in TSB, and Derrick Thomas is even faster and just as hard-hitting. I got 64 sacks just using Mike Singletary one season (regular 16-game season, original TSB, no DL hacks). And Greg Lloyd? .....well, I don't know.

DB's - Rod Woodson, Wayne Haddix, Ronnie Lott, Mark Carrier

All you Charles Woodson haters get your redemption here, and ONLY because he wasn't playing in '91.

Special Teams - Nick Lowery, Sean Landeta

how the hell did two guys from the afc west get in here

Kick Returner - Thurman Thomas

His ability to take a hit as well as dodge it earns him the KR privileges.

Punt Returner - Christian Okoye

His insane hitting power actually comes into excellent play here as he can usually popcorn the two or three guys that come at you like crackheads.

So there you have it. Argue all you want. :)
