Does TSBIII ever recognize your record and somehow affect the difficulty? Kinda like NBA Jam recognizes who is in the lead and makes it easier for the other team to catch up.
I was in the middle of a really mediocre DEF Only season with the Seahawks when I had to face the Cowboys. Their players seemed lackluster and never seemed to be in Excellent or even Good condition. I even won the game. Did the game help me or did I just get lucky with conditions?
Does TSBIII ever pull a NBA Jam?

I know the original amps up the juice when playing the computer the more you win. You seem to get more tecmo wrath when you are 12-0 than the beginning of the season.
I always wondered about that too, Tecmo III doesn't seem to have that as much. The playoffs seem a little more amped up, but the regular season doesn't seem to have that extra juice the more you win.

The game tends to ramp up slightly as the season progresses, but not as noticeably as it did in the NES version.
Then some teams are just so bad that if you're good enough, no amount of ramping will help. But those later season games against Buffalo, Miami, San Fran and Dallas can get really shaky sometimes.

NBA Jam adoringly called this feature "Computer Assistance." Of course, if you were as good at NBA Jam as I was, it was more to help the computer catch up.

I have that problem with the first TSB for SNES.
One season, I went like 13-0 with the 49ers, and got the ever loving shit beat out of me by a crappy 2-11 Rams team. Jermoe Bettis broke almost every single tackle in that game, and Jerry Rice fumbled the ball 3 times on long bomb passes, which had NEVER happened to me before.
In my season with the Tampa Bay Bucaneers, I finished 13-3, and the last 4 games were very tough, like the computer was cheating. I beat the Vikings in a defensive struggle, where it came down to a fumble on a flea flicker, resulting in the game winning FG in OT to win 10-7 (even though MINN out gained me on yards 200 vs 345)
I haven't made it so far in a season on TSBIII but it wouldn't surprise me.

OK - there has got to be some "computer assistance" in this game or some sort of fluctuation based on record or score.
First of all, we know (or at least I know) that there is some computer assistance when you are behind because your ability to block extra points is greatly increased. I can say this with a high degree of certainty based on my experiences.
But check this out...
I'm playing a defense only challenge with a bunch of terrible players just to see if I can win any games. I started the season 0-4 and was getting slaughtered. Suddenly I put together a 5-game win streak including beating the Steelers... TWICE (thanks to Rod Woodson's special teams fumbles heh). Hell, I lose to the Steelers in DEF only challenges all the time with a roster of good players, let alone shitty ones. Throughout the season I've been usually calling Dime D and controlling my horrible linebacker, Thomas Beer. But he sure played great during that win streak. I just wanted to use a player named Beer
Finally I lose again - a squeaker to TB 7-10. Then I play the Bengals and all fucking hell breaks loose. They put a 35-spot on me in the first quarter and embarass me 70-10. They rush for over 400 yards and pass for over 200. Note that Jeff Cothran was replaced with Walter Payton. Thomas Beer could barely move and was twice thrown by Jeff Blake.
So from 0-4 to 5-4 to getting brutally gang-raped by the Bengals. I wonder WTF happens next?
