toolie
In sound mode, there is a sound, #32, that I don't believe is ever played in the game. Does anyone know what this sound is? Thanks.
buck
it's just a short (probably like 5 sec long)drum, bass, and basic melody loop - kinda cool, but pretty short. I've tried it over the menu section and during gameplay and it gets pretty annoying after a while (too repetitive).
Knobbe
I'm not sure how sounds are stored in the game but importing from different NES games would be interesting....along with Super Mario Tecmo!
BO FB Offtackle Left
I'm not sure how sounds are stored in the game but importing from different NES games would be interesting....along with Super Mario Tecmo! There was a thread somewhere about where the hex locations are for sound so you could essentially write in your own music, but it was said it would take a long time so I don't think anyone has ever tried it. I've always wanted to play Tecmo to Eye of the Tiger, though. kamphuna8
buck
I'm really interested in changing TSB music. The post jstout made a while back didn't really get me anywhere, though. I tried tweaking stuff where I thought he was referencing, but nothing would happen.
TomTupa
I think there is a ton of trial and error involved in the process. Making a relatively short sound clip you could loop at some menus or maybe new gameplay music might be worth the time investment. From what I remember just about all NES games have different ways the music is stored so you can't just import music from another rom. guitarlover
Nice work but can you share more trial about drum music playing.
buck
For about a week or two, I got pretty deep into tweaking songs (or riffs) on TSB. I broke down the structure (or string of commands) of a couple of songs....without some sort of external program to enter commands and help with the timing of different channels lining up, it has to be the most tedious thing I can imagine - and I make electronic music using a variety of sources - analog synths/sequencers, midi sequencers (hell, I use an Atari ST for algorithmic midi sequencing), I've made countless "chip-tunes" with gameboys (nanoloop and lsdj)....but sitting there inputting hex commands one at a time (a channel at a time) is just too tedious for me.just a short loop like "song 32" would take a lot of intense concentration and organization - too much for the time I have on my hands. Like I said, if there were some sort of program developed to assist in timing and give a tiny-bit more graphical feedback on what the song structure "looks like", it wouldn't be bad. I decided that I don't have time to make such a program, thus I gave up on tweaking TSB music. now, I do intend to go in and tweak some of the sound effects - I can easily do that, because they are usually a single channel and a short sequence of commands. JohnnyLaRue
I am working on the music and it is not easy and found a few programs that may or may not be useful. wav 2 NES is one of them.I had planned on putting the NFL Primetime music into the game if possible. (space may be an issue as I am working with the 32 team rom)

buck
RE: "proper format" - How do you know it's the proper format? TSB sound engine has a unique (well, some other tecmo games use the engine, a few others) instruction and pointer set. Did you find any documentation for "wav2NES"?viewtopic.php?f=22&t=11172should tell you "where and how to put it".I am working on the music and it is not easy and found a few programs that may or may not be useful. wav 2 NES is one of them.so, have you actually used "wav2NES" and go it to do anything for TSB?Yes and no... JohnnyLaRue
By proper format I mean it is a valid sound file. Information for it is in Japanese so my friend is helping me with it when she has time. My Japanese is limited to say the least. One of these days I shall get around to learning it better but should get better with my English first! I found this if it helps any http://nesdev.parodius.com/mckc-e.txt Also thanks for the link but I don't understand much of it. ha ha

I'd say that's being creative, TBK. {Or did JJ really do that?....} ~Tailback King~
