Per this article supplied on another thread by danny007, I'd just like to note that the article states the Nintendo Wii version of the NEW Tecmo Bowl is being shelved, and will now become "Family Fun Football".

Also, danny007 notes the article says that next year, Tecmo Bowl will be available on XBox Live.

Mascot Mode: Players can play as their default character or their team's mascot in Mascot Mode! Mascots include animals, aliens and robots and additional, unlockable mascot heads.

From what I can tell, they saw Kickoff did poorly, and they wouldn't be able to sell this game on name alone. Since their developement of the game was going nowhere, they just threw a bunch of crazy stuff into the Tecmo Bowl game they were developing and stuck Family Fun Football on it.

At least they didn't slap Tecmo Bowl across the front of it and totally ruin their name!

I was pretty surprised to see that they had done anything with the Wii version. I figured it was vaporware after Kickoff sold so poorly. So, I guess it's kinda cool that they were working on something, but if this was what it was going to be, I don't mind that they're going the other direction with it.

Disagree, the NFLPA license means nothing to me, as long as they give me a decent way to edit players...otherwise the NFLPA license is only good for a season. It's all about gameplay now...I was actually hoping the new tecmo would be like "family fun football," and pretty much pictured that'd be the direction they took. We don't need another port. The version on the computer is better than anything Tecmo would release, so why another port? They just need to make another version that's fun to play, and people need to stop expecting them to release a straight up port for the Wii. That'd be a pointless waste of the Wii's capabilities.

The field is only 50 yards long. The yard lines are marked like Arena Football: 5, 10, 15, 20, with the 25 yard line acting as the 50 yard line on a normal football field. I wonder why they chose to shorten the field? Probably to make it easier to score and more arcade like? Here's a good look at this:

Maybe it's so when the QB thows the ball the length of the field, it doesn't seem so unrealistic.

They'll probably rate it mature once they find out about the new "shake it up and down to break tackles" grappling.

Actually this is probably the route they have to go football-wise in order to be successful

1. Don't call it Tecmo Bowl
2. Make it not like Madden as much as possible

Honestly, it's like they've done a port of the 4 man classic Tecmo Bowl: the arcade game.

I bet this will end being a fun Wii game.
