  1. well the version I settled on isn't exactly a CSV file but it's more of a directory structure of .txt files per each player by stat category. like this: /SEASON/TEAM/receiving/LastName,FirstName.txt or: /2012/buffalo-bills/receiving/Johnson,Stevie.txt I figure this would be a little bit easier to compile for someone who just wants the stats. For anyone who needs it in a CSV i'll make a CSV version eventually. Without further ado - here is the standalone python app... just pip install -r requirements.txt so you can get BeautifulSoup4 (it's only dependency). README coming eventually too. Just run main.py and it will do a full site dump - and it will probably take a long time. https://github.com/taddeimania/nfl_stat_scraper_standalone
  2. only when there is potentially an audience. we pair up so much at work it feels weird if i'm working without another set of eyes.
  3. no problems i'm actually working on updating this project tonight. live streaming code and music http://www.justin.tv/taddeimania
  4. it actually parses SI.com. It also doesn't output it to a CSV, it loads it into a mysql database. The whole project was very narrow focused and I think I spent all of 2-3 hours working on it. If anyone likes what it might be able to do and has any specific requests I'd be happy to throw something together I think first up i'll make it NOT a webapp that uses a database but a regular python app that outputs to a CSV since David had a pretty good idea knobbe: don't hate... python is the shiz!
  5. no more editing needed, this one is my favorite.
  6. I like the 3rd but man I wish the face wasn't so dark.
  7. that collection would have made 0 sense to me before this thread. Crazy what you learn here on tecmobowl.org
  8. hah snuck in my ninja edit 1 minute before your post dave.
  9. much like a .doc or a .txt need a word processor to open them to edit, you'll need an "emulator" to play the game buck put together for you. It wont load onto your NES and it'll just stay right on your computer but the fact is when you open the emulator and open the .nes file he posted - you'll see the little tecmo rabbit and press x or z or whatever a and b are mapped to and you'll be like "holy crap i can play tecmo super bowl on my computer!". The reason it's not initially loading when you drag it to your desktop is because by default windows doesn't have an emulator loaded to play the file, you probably saw a "select a program to run this file" pop up when you clicked on it - well after you get the emulator running and open the .nes file on your desktop you'll then be able to run it. As for contacting that guy that does the NES carts, he wont need to do any work on the rom because buck has already done it for you. Get in contact with him, tell him you've got an NES rom you want him to load to a cart, send him some cash and any NES game (rad racer?) and he'll do some magic to put the rom on it for you so you can play it on the nintendo with your buddies. At least that's how I think it works based on what the above guys have said. edit:: you should look at the site to see what compatible carts you can send. don't try to send rad racer it wont work.
  10. woah this is a pretty cool deal, my wife would kill me so fast if she caught me doing this.
  11. hrm you may be on to something, i never took a real close look to the first slot after the posid but with a save state named okoyenuts.nst it put a 0 there. guess you're right. Oh well - guess i'll have to give up on the week bit for this extractor. btw thanks for all the help bru, if it weren't for your java app i wouldn't be anywhere close to where I ended up. and by help i mean reverse engineering i did
  12. ahaha this is unreal. can't wait to play the finished product.
