  1. Maybe it's because the Packers have had three division games come down to the wire this season, with their week 17 match-up against the Vikings likely deciding the division champion. I'm wondering what your favorite, or, most even division match-ups are in TSB. Top 5's are encouraged. Here are my Top 5 most even: 1) SD vs DEN 2) KC vs RAI 3) PHX vs DAL 4) IND vs NE 5) NYG vs PHI ----------------------------- Also to consider: -- PIT vs CLE -- MIN vs DET -- ATL vs NO -- TB vs MIN -- CIN vs HOU ---------------------------- Favorite? Caring most about the NFC Central, I would have to take the Lions vs Vikings. Barry/Peete vs that defense though! Next favorite would be PIT vs CLE (QB Browns vs that defense though). Next-next would be NYG vs PHI (QB Eagles vs LT = classic!).
  2. Playing as the Falcons, I think I only got to week 2 when the Vikings got me. "Disappointment Deion." True, there are likely better methods of clock management than scoring gobs of offensive points, especially against high-powered offenses. It's just fun to rack up passing stats, especially with Rison. Past week 4, I'll try to limit opponent's offensive possessions going forward. Sucks! By the way, do I need something special to open the video? "Can't find matching image file." Do you know how far you've gotten? Even halfway through a season would be super impressive.
  3. What's the furthest you've gotten into a season without yielding any points? I'll gander that an entire shut-out season has "never been done," but people have probably gotten close. Didn't get as close as I'd hoped with the Packers. Dang Dolphins with their power running game sank my ship.
  4. Sharpe did max out on yards. Total should have been about 4470. Full season stats:
  5. Don't worry, TBK, I'm sure TecmoPsycho will do exactly that.
  6. Just finished a regular season with the packers. Low and behold, I caught something strange on the final standings for the nfc west. Has anyone else encountered an extra week in the standings before? Perhaps it is an emulator glitch thing. Anyway, I found it funny.
  7. It offends me that Mark Lee is on this list. Not only was Lee the second worst defensive back in Tecmo (a fact that is erroneous for our purposes, I realize), but he didn't even play for the Packers between 1991 and 2015. Just several games for a couple other teams in 1991. If only four are chosen, seems like four of these would be a lock: LeRoy Butler (12 seasons, 4 pro bowls) Charles Woodson (7 seasons, 4 pro bowls w/ Packers) Darren Sharper (8 seasons, 2 pro bowls w/ Packers) Al Harris (8 seasons, 2 pro bowls) Nick Collins (7 seasons, 3 pro bowls) If more are chosen, you also have these guys: Tramon Williams (9 seaons, 1 pro bowl) Tyrone Williams (7 seasons) Mike McKenzie (6 seasons) Morgan Burnett (5 seasons) PS, Mark Murphy? 1991 was the last year he played for the Packers.
  8. Yeah, someone needs to give Steve Christie some love. Or even Chris Jacke would be nice.
  9. Dang. I was hoping the programmers were secretly admitting their true loyalties.
  10. The quarterbacks on this list left me bewildered, until I did some research. Not that I'm biased or anything. Wade Wilson has 1 pro bowl. Scott Mitchell has a 4000 yd season in 94. Teste got his 4000 yd season in 96 as the Ravens' (first ever) QB. Jim Harbaugh? He has neither. Although as the Bears' primary starter from 90-94, they did have two 11-5 seasons, as well as a 9-7 season where they finished 4th in the NFC Central yet won their wildcard playoff game against the Vikings. But I still gotta vote for Don Majkowski. The mullet, guys. Lots and lots and lots of injuries. Only one full season during his six with Green Bay, but it was a doosey: 4000 yd and a pro bowl appearance in 1989. More impressive than crack haddix? Probably not, but who cares.
  11. - Isn't that why it has the fans it does? The difficulty. - I'm guessing Barry has a decent BC attribute in TSB II. It's not like the real Barry had lots of fumbles. Are you getting out of bounds as much as you can? Even being near the sideline when being tackled can make a diff in not losing a fumble. I've often wondered if there is more to generating fumbles than the ball carrier's BC. Does the tackler/ball carrier HP make a difference? This would explain why QBs seem more apt than normal to fumble on picked plays. Also why Barry might fumble more than other backs, if he has a decent BC but a low HP. - Do you mean he's on the Jets for TSB III? He was on the Bengals first, then the Jets.
  12. At the mid-point of my Packers season. I have been throwing almost exclusively from Majik to Sharpe, no matter what the coverage. What are your receiving records in Receptions, Yards and TDs that you can remember? My receiving goals for the season: 150 rec, 4500 yd, 75 TDs.
  13. Good call-out! I get Tunch and Stan swapped sometimes. Silly, but I think the fact they are loosely in the same tier of lower-mid teams with crummy offenses that hinders me from differentiating. My apologies, Stan, I love you! Funny how I thought Fourcade's stats were impressive. Just finished a Brownie season and Bernie's sheet is gonna blow Fourcade's to the four corners.
  14. I find myself not throwing into coverage now just to get through a season with no pics. Makes it less magical that way, but it's all good, I'll find ways to get my TDs. After nine weeks, 52 TDs w/ no picks and counting ...
  15. Way to fight, soldier! I don't have to ask -- I'm sure all three passes were TDs. They don't call him "Touchdown Tupa" for nothing.
  16. How many passing TDs have you been able to accrue without throwing a pick? It's dang near impossible to go a whole season of slinging it without getting at least one INT, even with the best of QBs. QB Bernie, however, still has a clean slate five weeks into the season. Who does he think he is, Aaron Rodgers?
  17. Behind the arm (and feet) of John Fourcade, the Saints went 18-1. Fourcade's stats were pretty good. But not as good as Eric Martin's. I threw to him whenever I could. I just hadn't realized I threw to him that much. EM averaged 2.62 TDs per game. The Saints return game is always fun, thanks to Tunch Ilkin's invisible presence. This was the first time I can recall getting over a thousand KR yards with one player. Ah yes. Then there was the sacking. Fourcade's stat sheet.
  18. I'll go with best, TSB-speaking. Just finished a Saints season where 4cade put up some decent numbers, but most impressive was his 42 TD to Eric Martin alone. Saints went 15-1 losing a late season contest to the Niners. Late in the season and the Playoffs 4cade was nimble as a kitten on catnip. He got injured in the Super Bowl and reverting to Walsh felt like having to put in Grogan after Wilson gets hurt. Painful.
  19. I know, he's dang near unstoppable on some of the versions. But not NEARLY as unstoppable as Majik backing up boy George for the Colts in TSB 1.
  20. About to wrap up a Saints season, but I'll do a Brownies season next. I'll post the results when they arrive, along with points on strategerie. I'm hoping for an MVP season from Minnie.
  21. What's your favorite playoff scenarios? I like it when lower tier man v man teams, like the Saints or Jets, but especially the Seahawks or Packers, make the playoffs. The CPU Seahawks seem to make the playoffs a significant number of times considering 1) they are probably the third worst man v man team, and 2) they are in a division with the Raiders, Chiefs, Broncos and Chargers. The last two teams have poor default playbooks bringing them down, but the Seahawks have no business hanging with the other two. I also like it when one division is overly represented in a playoff field. I am about to play my first playoff game with my 16-0 Pats, only to find I have two AFC East division rivals standing in my way. Now that's a heated division title race!
  22. Go, Majik, Go! I agree with what was stated above, about Barry having a poor offensive line, yet had tremendous success statistically. We won't even talk about QBs. I mean, when has Adrian Peterson ever played with a decent QB, and the dude runs like a madman? Well, scratch that, in 09 he played along Brett Favre (most of you probably don't know who he is -- he was drafted in 91 so doesn't make it into TSB) and the Vikings were one a few plays from the Super Bowl. But my point is, let's be clear about what player is responsible for making JJok a pro bowl caliber player in TSB. It's not Rosenpenis. It's not even Tom Tupa. It's the Cardinals' left tackle, LOIS SHARPE. The man is a top-five TSB OL. Who clears the way for JJok to get those long, easy gains? Who protects Tupa's/Rosenpenis' blind side for those long seconds waiting for JJok to get down the field on a burn route? Who brings the LT 50 ms to make JJok look like a god on KRs? Luis, Luis, Luis. It's time to face the facts. Luis was selected to 3 Pro Bowls (87,88,89), while JJok only went to one (91). Of course, Ron Wolfley went to FOUR pro bowls (86-89), but I don't need to reiterate how I feel about him.
  23. Great read! It's fun to hear about people's first experiences with various teams. There is always one or two surprises. I wish I had the stats from my Browns season. I think I went about 6-10, but I was playing by scoring on defense + special teams only. K Kauric must have got a zillion FG, with Mack chipping in with a few return TDs. The Browns are fun to play with, because they have just enough ok players on defense to make you believe you can stop anyone. Plus they have a really tough and fun division having to play the Oilers, Steelers and Bengals twice a season. I am always frustrated with the play of LB4 Matthews, however. WAY too slow on blitzes or crashing the middle on dives. Pretty much a waste of space. Hard to believe you only got 2 INT all season! Must have been super frustrating.
