  1. You rotten SOB. Maybe you need a history lesson--10 yard fight is where Tecmo got its zig zag--just quicker RBs and in a different direction (and it doesn't take 10 min. to run for a TD). 10 yard fight is a classic.
  2. My buddy was in Orenga's group (as a NOOB) in 2016 and absolutely loved every second of it.
  3. I can see both sides. For me, honestly, its not necessarily where the tournament is, but who I would/could play. So I'd much rather at this point look at the bigger tourneys and particularly those with elite players (outside of the ones within 20-30 min of me obviously). I think spacing tourneys out, as well as unique formats, would assist in making the tourneys larger/more successful.
  4. All signed up. Excited for my first Tecmo title.
  5. Good group of players, should be a great tourney, particularly the final 8. GL to all competitors.
  6. Wow, what an experience. Thanks to the NoDak crew--what an event. And the Conjurer was everything I knew he was--and more. Thanks to the support staff and the band (?!?) that played--they were WAY too good to be out there for 20 guys. Tribe Dot Don gave it a valiant effort, but came up short in the end. We started fast, and fizzled late (kind of like my boozing). The custom ROM and mirror tecmo did us in. Although it was cool seeing myself catch a dump pass for the TD. I've never seen a miracle, but D. Fuckin Murray taking a picked play RightA run for a TD in the mirror was straight up witchcraft. Well done to the champs. Great job to my Tribe (ARNCOEM, ESOrenga, & Leonardite), and great to see everyone else and hang in a great atmosphere.
  7. I've ran right through at 55 mph going up there, and have sit there 45 minutes not moving before. Its a crap shoot really. Friday at noon has me a little worried because any delay experience I've had has been on weekend trips.
  8. Anyone have any info on I35 by Owatonna on the way up? I heard its very bad for delays. I'm considering going 80-29 or 35-90-29 in lieu of 35-94. Anyone have thoughts/input?
  9. (removes foam Vikings helmet and turns) My name is Maximus Mortissus Narcissus. Winner of Tecmo VI, runner up in Tecmo VII, and loyal servant to the true emperor, the Conjurer. Father to a murdered JJ, Husband to a murdered CC, and I will have my tecmo vengeance, in this life or the next.
  10. 30 days. Preparing my "potion" for the bonfire, and preparing my sacrifice and offering to the Conjurer. Got Tummy bubbles of excitement already.
  11. This is a good one, because there are arguments for any opponent. Is the opponent better than you? Take Rison with the punchers chance, or take NYJ where you can potentially control the defensive side a bit better for that 1 stop/turnover you need. Worse than you? Take Falcons to take out the Rison bomb factor, or take NYJ to potentially dominate on D? I could see this going either way against virtually anyone. This one is 100% who I'm playing at the time its called.
  12. Agree, that's a good one. MIN is a weird team to me. Strong D, average offense...I threw in DAL because I see SD and DEN sometimes, and DAL is a sneaky good matchup with DEN, so wanted to extend the thoughts out a bit.
  13. More, this time with another enigma of a team to me, who seems to match up against 10 or more teams fairly well, MIN MIN v. MIA MIN v. CIN MIN v. DEN MIN v. SD MIN v. WASH MIN v. DAL
  14. Good tourney Knobbe, thanks. For some reason, I always do crappy at these Lincoln tourneys. Played my first game HOU v. NYG, I take NYG and about the 2nd quarter I find out I'm playing Buck! I turn it over inside the 10 late down 14-13, and Buck makes me pay. I lose 21-13. I then play a new guy Brian I think, and call NO-PIT, he takes PIT. I turn it over on downs and throw an INT inside the 20 again, and lose 14-10. I manage to get a win 21-10 and limp into the bracket 1-2 as the twenty-something seed. I draw Jeremy S, who I've played twice in Iowa tourneys and at Tomczak bowl, he's really good. He calls SD/DEN, I take SD and Elway picks me apart on the burn routes up and down (wherever my D isn't) and I cant stop him. Manage to climb from 21-7 down to tie, but he wins 28-21, and takes that all the way to 3rd place. Good run by him. My offense is RUSTY like the trombone. eek.
  15. What if we do a best of 7 coin flip, then play paper/rock/scissors best of 5? The winner of the coin flip series chooses their controller, the winner of flip #4 chooses the matchup, and the winner of P/R/S series chooses who sits in what chair and whether the TV is on mute or not (although its not said, criss-crossing controllers in Tecmo is a huge mind fuck advantage). Then the winner of the P/R/S first throw chooses the team. This to me seems cleaner. Thanks for the consideration in advance Dave.
  16. I call this one quite a bit, because I think most players will take PIT here, leaving me with PHX, who I'd prefer. But this is pretty even. Hard to score on either front, but I like the offensive advantage at RB a bit more than I like the D. But its first to 17. PS You have to answer my DET questions now.
  17. Would like to get some opinions on DET, because I think this is a team that elite players love, and maybe the middle/lower players hate. Who do you take? DET CIN DET TB DET MINN DET RAMS DET KC DET SD/WASH/DEN
  18. I never understood why anyone gives a shit about P1. Its 100% mental (outside of the onside kick, and if you win the game you don't need an onside kick). Practice some games at P2, plus you're playing defense at P1 direction, which IMO I think is the bigger advantage if you like P1 so much. Agree with Louis--it is a Tecmo God slap in the face to defer--do it at your own peril. Pick the matchup you turds--or, here's a novel concept, pick a matchup that will make your opponent pick the team you DONT want!! Then you win-win-win. Strategy/matchups is key in tournaments--I honestly can't even remember what controller I had, but I remember who called the matchups. Buck I hope to have a beer at Lincoln with you and calm you down. That is until I play you--then after winning the coin toss I will say "wow what a huge advantage this is for me" the entire game to destroy you mentally. haha
  19. Excited for this venue, I've heard great things. Looking forward to it, been a while since I've been to Lincoln and paid my respects to the Godfather. One complaint with the venue though--how can we not be a big enough deal to get on their calendar?!?!? haha
  20. I fancy myself to be OK on defense, so there are probably several teams I'd prefer over the Raiders if I thought about it: DUH: SF, NYG, HOU, BUF MAYBE/PROBABLY: MIA, CIN, CHI, PHI, KC YOURE PUSHING IT: RAMS, MIA
  21. I think MIN/DET/Rams is the correct tier for that team. I'd probably take them too, because Montana/Rice and Montana/Taylor are the shizz
  22. To me I constantly call NE here, due to the defensive advantages NE can provide, particularly since youre essentially playing to 10 or 14 points. However IND's offense isn't that bad, and taking deep shots constantly is a handful with IND sometimes.
  23. Agree as usual with Bruddog, you just have to be far enough away. Sometimes I'll even have to run away from the WR a bit first if I know I won't make it to break up the pass/INT. A lot of it is timing and "circling like a shark" on defense. Once you get a routine it gets easier and now I very rarely ever am in that situation.
