  1. Awesome, thanks. And do you know if Quickness is now used for anything? Or if any of the other attributes have been changed (other than PA and PC)?
  2. Hey goji, I just sent you a PM with a question but then found this thread and realized I should have just posted here. Basically I was wondering about compatibility with TSB Tool Supreme. Tecmonster specifically mentions that using TSB Tool can break some stuff in his 2020 edit, and I was wondering if you knew of anything like that in yours? Also, I am hoping to use this rom as the basis for a drafted COM vs COM league and so I want to make sure we all know what the attributes do exactly. Sorry if this is already documented somewhere. From what I can tell the attributes are the same as in the original game, except for the PA/PC hack (PC is now completion/interception chance, PA is ability to throw on target). Is that it? Is Quickness now used for anything in this version? Thanks a ton, and this version looks super awesome!
  3. Ok thanks. By going back to _0.9.1_Beta I was able to load everything. Looks like it was not only cutting of the 49ers but also the Rams, Seahawks, Cardinals, and the schedule data at the end.
  4. Greetings! Just downloaded this tool, it looks to be very awesome. So a year or two ago I ran an 8-player league using the original rom where we each drafted a full team of 30 and then I used TSB Manager (or whatever the utility is for the 28-team rom) to swap all of our drafted guys together to create the 8 teams. I then used some utility to edit the schedule (may have even been TSBTool Supreme...it's been long enough that I can't remember and I seem to have lost the folder with those files). Recorded the games with OBS, put them on youtube, great times were had by all. Anyway, my buddies want to do another league but to mix things up we want to use the latest 2020 tb.org rom to draft from. Obviously what I used before won't work since this is a 32-team rom, but it looks like Supreme will fit the bill. We aren't fancy with our own helmet designs or anything....really we just need to be able to do 3 things: 1) swap players from team to team. 2) rename the teams. 3) update the schedule. So that is my long unnecessary preamble to a question....when I load the 2020 rom (specifically, Tecmo2020_rev3.nes) into TSBTool Supreme it looks like the 49ers player data at the end is getting chopped. All the teams before that up through Panthers look ok, but here's what I'm seeing for 49ers: TEAM = 49ers SimData=0x89170, PLAYBOOK R4753, P2573 QB1, , Face=0x1e, #0, 25, 69, 13, 13, 56, 50, 44, 44 ,[2, 6, 2 ] QB2, , Face=0x40, #0, 25, 69, 31, 13, 44, 38, 50, 50 ,[5, 6, 1 ] RB1, , Face=0x99, #8e, 38, 69, 44, 25, 69, 31 ,[5, 3, 5, 2 ] RB2, ÿ& ..and then nothing else, that's the end of the data. Have you seen this before?
  5. The site seems to be down again. Any idea if it will be up again soon? I've used it in the past and it is awesome....I was hoping to use it again here soon for another Fantasy Tecmo league I'll be running. Thanks! PS - Does anyone know of another way to quickly pull the season stats from a game? I've searched around (like here for example: www.tecmosb.com) but can't seem to find anything.
  6. NFL: There's not really any teams I hate/dislike, but I dislike the fans of several teams: Cowboys, Eagles, and Steelers being chief among them. TSB: For some reason I've always hated SF in TSB.
  7. I'm (almost) an actuary. I haven't played TSB in too many weird places, but I have played at work (a previous job), and on my laptop whilst on the toilet.
  8. This is awesome. This makes wonder: Does Tecmo erase stats after fumbles in general (not just post-TD fumbles)? I think it does. I guess my question is, is Tecmo's treatment of fumbles and stats in line with the NFL's rules?
  9. Alright, I simmed a full COM vs COM season with this bad-boy while I was sleeping last night. Here's what happened: League Leaders (I'll mostly just list the knobbe users' players) --MtSuperBowl (NYG), Phillyofis (MIA), and Snoopy (BAL) were top 3 in passer rating (187.7, 177.6, and 145.0). --Slimstewie (KC) was 2nd in receiving yards (1341). --Drukenhonk (DAL) was 9th in receiving yards (1239) but 1st in yards per reception (53.8!). --Buck (NYG) was 6th in rushing yards (1143) and 4th in yards per attempt (9.. --Ravensrule (BAL) was tied for 4th in picks (9), including one returned for a TD. --JStout (DAL) and WMoonBomb (HOU) had 7 picks each (tied for 14th), and Bodom (NE) had 6 (tied for 21st). --Drummerfor (CLE) led the league in sacks with 30. --Hurricaine (DAL) was 2nd in sacks with 27. --Yours truly (Robert Fisher, NYG) was tied for 9th in sacks with 20. --Extensive (PHI) was tied for 2nd in average kickoff return (16.6), and was first in total kickoff return yards (1049) and tied for first in kickoff returns for TD (2). Team Stuff Top Pass Offense: Packers Top Rush Offense: Ravens Top Total Offense: Ravens Top Pass Defense: Steelers Top Rush Defense: Jaguars Top Total Defense: Steelers Best record: Steelers (14-2) Worst record: Cardinals (0-15-1) Playoffs Jets, Steelers, Texans, Broncos were the AFC division winners, with Chiefs and Ravens as wild cards. Giants, Lions, Falcons, 49ers, with Cowboys and Vikings as wild cards in the NFC. AFC: Ravens over Broncos, Texans over Chiefs, Jets over Ravens, Steelers over Texans, Jets over Steelers NFC: Cowboys over Falcons, Vikings over 49ers, Giants over Cowboys, Lions over Vikings, Giants over Lions Superbowl: Jets over Giants, final score 14-13 Giants are pretty stacked (V.M.T. Superbowl (QB), Chris Buck (RB), Ray Mobilepro (WR), Robert Fisher (LILB, but actually lineman due to NY's use of 4-3), K.Rodwoodson (RCB)) but it wasn't enough to pull out the victory.
  10. Sweet. Once it's released I think I will sim a full COM vs COM season to see how everybody performs.
  11. When I simmed 100 seasons on SKP (in that thread that Rod linked above), I had SF go 16-0 three times, and Buffalo did it once. I also had one 0-16 team (Atlanta).
  12. Interesting. Looks like Denver has the worst team sim numbers in the AFC West, yet they finished 2nd. Touche.
  13. Ok, here's the last sim stuff I wanted to look at, then I'll let it rest for awhile. I finally finished running and compiling the data from 100 seasons with every team on SKP. All I recorded from each season was the W-L-T record of each team, and if a team made the playoffs, won the division, won the conference, or won the superbowl. So I didn't record any points for or points against data (didn't want to type that much stuff in each time). Here are the final standings in each division, with each team's average won-lost record over the 100 seasons (note: I didn't even bother to list ties since they rounded down to an average of 0 for every team). Also, in parentheses after each team's average W-L record is the maximum # of games they ever won in a season and the minimum # of games they ever won in a season. So for example, Miami's line is "10-6 (14, 5)", which means their average record over all 100 seasons was 10-6. Their best season was 14 wins and their worst season was 5 wins. AFC East ***Buffalo Bills: 12-4 (16, *Miami Dolphins: 10-6 (14, 5) New York Jets: 7-9 (12, 2) Indianapolis Colts: 5-11 (12, 1) New England Patriots: 4-12 (8, 1) AFC Central ***Houston Oilers: 10-6 (15, 4) Cincinnati Bengals: 8-8 (13, 3) Pittsburgh Steelers: 8-8 (12, 4) Cleveland Browns: 5-11 (9, 1) AFC West **Los Angeles Raiders: 10-6 (14, 6) *Denver Broncos: 9-7 (13, 4) *Seattle Seahawks: 8-8 (12, 4) Kansas City Chiefs: 8-8 (13, 3) San Diego Chargers: 7-9 (13, 1) NFC East ***New York Giants: 11-5 (14, 5) *Washington Redskins: 9-7 (15, 4) *Philadelphia Eagles: 9-7 (14, 5) Dallas Cowboys: 8-8 (12, 3) Phoenix Cardinals: 6-10 (11, 1) NFC Central **Chicago Bears: 10-6 (13, 5) *Minnesota Vikings: 9-7 (13, 4) Green Bay Packers: 7-9 (11, 3) Detriot Lions: 6-10 (12, 2) Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 6-10 (10, 1) NFC West ***San Francisco 49ers: 13-3 (16, 10) New Orleans Saints: 8-8 (13, 4) Los Angeles Rams: 7-9 (12, 2) Atlanta Falcons: 5-11 (9, 0) ***: First-round bye **: Division winner w/o first-round bye *: Wild Card spot Notes: --In all 100 seasons, only one team ever went 0-16: Atlanta (and they only did it once). --Only two teams ever went 16-0: Buffalo (did it once) and San Francisco (did it three times). --Only two teams never had a losing record in all 100 season: SF's worst was 10-6 and BUF's worst was 8-8. --New England was the only team to never achieve a better than .500 record; their best season was 8-8. --San Francisco had the lowest standard deviation of wins at 1.42 (so you could say they had the most "consistent performance from season to season). --Kansas City had the highest standard deviation of wins at 2.17 (so you could say they had the most "volatile" performance from season to season). 14. I wonder what's the most points somebody could score in a game of Tecmo using save-state abuse. I know it goes against the spirit, but I'm sure you're all familiar with Tool-Assisted Speedruns, where you use save-states and other emulator features such as slow-down to completely beat the sh*t out of a game? So I wonder, could somebody theoretically put up 200 pts in a TSB game using such tools? At some point there's an upper limit that's impossible to reach even with save-states (like 1000 pts), but what is that limit?
  15. Awesome idea. Glad I made it in before the cut-off. Name: Well my first name is Robert, so technically it would be "Robert Max_Fischer". That sounds kinda weird so you could also go with just "Max Fischer" or "Robert Fischer" (Bobby Fischer!), your call. Team: Giants Jersey #: 98 Position: LILB (Move over, Gary Reasons) Face #: 0x40 All I humbly ask is to have LT-like stats.....maybe bumped up a notch in each category.
  16. Cool. But don't worry about the draft list now, since we're going to do a live draft (although you could still make one to use as a tool during the draft, you just don't have to send it to me). And actually, that reminds me.....I should post an update of the "League Regulations". They'll be quite different from what I posted over in the Gfaqs thread since we're going with a different format now. Fantasy Tecmo Rules and Regulations Rosters Rosters will consist of the following positions: 1 QB 2 RBs 2 WRs 1 TE 1 K 1 Team Defense -------------------- 8 TOTAL All 8 are "starters" and score points; there is no bench. Draft Once I have a list of who will be playing, I will randomize the draft order. We'll do it serpentine. The draft will be live, in the chatroom here. So we'll need to come up with a time that works for a lot of people. Evenings work for me, after about 7:30 (once the kid is asleep), but I'm Mountain Time so that is 9:30 back east. I could also do weekends. I don't think it would take more than an hour. Scoring Once the teams are drafted, a full season will be simmed out COM vs COM using an original TSB rom. Points will be awarded as follows: QBs, RBs, WRs, TEs 6 pts for a rushing or receiving TD 4 pts for a passing TD 1 pt for 10 yards rushing or receiving 1 pt for 25 yards passing -2 pts for throwing an interception Kickers 3 pts for a made FG 1 pt for a made PAT -1 pt for a missed FG Team Defenses 10 pts for allowing 0 points in a game 7 pts for allowing 2-6 points in a game 4 pts for allowing 7-13 points in a game 1 pt for allowing 14-17 points in a game 0 pts for allowing 18-21 points in a game -1 pts for allowing 22-27 points in a game -4 pts for allowing 28-34 points in a game -7 pts for allowing 35-45 points in a game -10 pts for allowing 46+ points in a game 2 pts for an interception 1 pt for a sack The point-scoring methods listed above can all be pulled from the game without me having to watch any of the games. Here are some other possible point-scoring opportunities we could add in, but they would require me to watch each game and manually record when they happen: QBs, RBs, WRs, TEs -2 pts for a lost fumble Kickers 4 pts for a FG of 40+ yards 5 pts for a FG of 50+ yards Team Defenses 2 pts for a fumble recovery 2 pts for a blocked punt, PAT, or FG 2 pts for a safety 6 pts for a defensive TD What do you think? Is it worth having to watch all the games, rather than buzz through them on turbo speed, to add these in? I hate to be lazy, but my thought is to just leave them out this time around. Keep things simple this time, and then possibly go more elaborate for a future incarnation of the league. Interested Parties fatcheerleader Rod Woodson DAMFNDRZA(?) ODell42 shadowvexil We need more, so please post if you're interested. I think 8 would be a good number....then the draft won't be too long. But it wouldn't hurt to have more than 8 signed up so we have alternates in case somebody can't make the draft. Miscellaneous Responses/Questions Would you mind linking some of these tools/programs? I've poked around a bit and found some stuff, but I'd be interested in seeing the stuff you're referring to. How do I turn injuries off? I've tried a search of the forums here and I've found some discussion of it but I haven't been able to find any roms or ips files (which is what I'd need....I can't really do that editing stuff myself).
  17. Ok, the stream of pointless stats continues. But I think I'm almost done now. Here are the results of the COM vs COM season I recently finished simming (this is the normal 16-game season from the rom). Teams are sorted based on winning percentage: 1. San Francisco 49ers (.875) 2. Kansas City Chiefs (.750) T-3. Detroit Lions (.688) T-3. Los Angeles Raiders (.688) T-3. Buffalo Bills (.688) T-6. New York Jets (.625) T-6. Cincinnati Bengals (.625) T-6. Los Angeles Rams (.625) T-6. Houston Oilers (.625) T-6. Philadelphia Eagles (.625) T-6. Washington Redskins (.625) T-12. Minnesota Vikings (.563) T-12. Chicago Bears (.563) T-12. Miami Dolphins (.563) 15. San Diego Chargers (.531) T-16. Phoenix Cardinals (.500) T-16. Cleveland Browns (.500) 18. New York Giants (.469) T-19. Pittsburgh Steelers (.406) T-19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (.406) T-21. Indianapolis Colts (.313) T-21. Denver Broncos (.313) T-21. Seattle Seahawks (.313) T-21. New England Patriots (.313) T-25. Dallas Cowboys (.250) T-25. Atlanta Falcons (.250) 27. Green Bay Packers (.188) 28. New Orleans Saints (.125) Comparing this to my 27-Game Mega Season, we get the following results: Top 5 Teams who did better in the 27-Game Mega Season than in the normal 16-Game Season (with win pct difference in parentheses): 1. Atlanta Falcons (+.380) 2. New York Giants (+.253) 3. Buffalo Bills (+.201) 4. Dallas Cowboys (+.194) 5. Miami Dolphins (+.104) Top 5 Teams who did worse in the 27-Game Mega Season than in the normal 16-Game Season (with win pct difference in parentheses): 1. New York Jets (-.255) 2. Detroit Lions (-.169) 3. San Diego Chargers (-.161) 4. Phoenix Cardinals (-.130) 5. Indianapolis Colts (-.127) Team with the most consistent performance between the two seasons: Chicago Bears What does all this mean? I don't know. Next I'll provide the data from the 100 SKP seasons I'm compiling, then I think I'll call it quits for now.
  18. Hmmm....ya know, that's probably a good idea to do it here instead. One of the guys over at GFaqs even mentioned it. The board over there used to be fairly lively but it's pretty dead nowadays. So I think I'll post over there to let everyone know the game will be migrating here. I'll look into the draft tools you mentioned. Yeah, since I first posted that I have realized that COM vs COM is definitely the way to go. Actually......that's a good question. Originally I had intended this to be a week-by-week thing just like actual fantasy football, where you update your roster each week, make trades, sign free agents, etc. However, I'm starting to reassess if I would actually have the time to devote to something that involved. I'd hate to get it going and then burn out partway through the season and never finish. But going the "draft, then cheer" route would make it much less time consuming for me, and also might make it more inviting to people who are worried about having to tweak a lineup weekly (like yourself). Basically it would just be a one-time commitment (show up for the draft). Perhaps if this one is successful I would look at doing a more involved league in the future. Doing it this way would make the draft so important that it should definitely be done live (over on GFaqs I had been considering using draft lists). I guess we could do it in the chatroom here? The other issue I see is with injuries. With the week-by-week system, you would be able to react to injuries by subbing in back-ups or picking up a free agent. With the "draft/cheer" system, your stud RB could be sidelined half the season and give you 0 points for each of those games. We could just say "tough luck, them's the breaks", but I kind of hate allowing random chance to screw somebody's team that much, so I'd almost prefer to just turn injuries off. Problem is, I don't know how to do that. Anybody have a hacked ROM with season injuries turned off?
  19. So over on the gamefaqs TSB message board I am going to be running a Fantasy Football league based on the results of a simmed COM vs COM season on the original NES TSB rom. I currently have 6 interested parties but I'd like to have 8 total teams in the league, so there are a couple slots left. I just finished posting the league rules, so please feel free to stop by and read them, and post on the board there if you're interested:
  20. Ok, here's some more data. Based on the team ranking I got from performing this experiment, I wanted to see which teams had the strongest/weakest strength of schedule (based on their actual 1991 schedules in the original NES game). So here are the teams listed from strongest strength of schedule to weakest. In parentheses is the average winning percentage of the team's 16 opponents (again, using the winning percentages from my 27-game season experiment): 1) New Orleans Saints (.567) 2) Los Angeles Rams (.541) 3) Phoenix Cardinals (.539) 4) Cincinnati Bengals (.527) 5) Washington Redskins (.524) 6) Kansas City Chiefs (.521) 7) San Diego Chargers (.516) T- San Francisco 49ers (.513) T- New York Giants (.513) 10) Green Bay Packers (.512) 11) Houston Oilers (.507) 12) Dallas Cowboys (.506) 13) Indianapolis Colts (.505) 14) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (.503) 15) Seattle Seahawks (.500) T-16) Atlanta Falcons (.498) T-16) Detroit Lions (.498) 18) Philadelphia Eagles (.492) T-19) Chicago Bears (.490) T-19) Pittsburgh Steelers (.490) 21) Los Angeles Raiders (.488) 22) Denver Broncos (.486) 23) New England Patriots (.475) 24) New York Jets (.472) 25) Cleveland Browns (.470) 26) Miami Dolphins (.466) 27) Buffalo Bills (.448) 28) Minnesota Vikings (.440) Next I'm going to simulate a full COM vs COM season (the actual 16-game, 17-week season from the NES game) and compare the results to my experiment.
  21. Here's the 9 teams they beat, with the scores: 17-10 over Cincinnati 28-7 over Denver 17-10 over Indianapolis 19-17 over New York Jets 14-7 over New Orleans 23-10 over Philadelphia 13-6 over San Diego 30-14 over Tampa Bay 21-7 over Washington What's funny is I simmed the games in pretty much random order, and most of NE's wins happened early. So after 10 games they were something like 7-3 and I thought "what the hell is going on here?!" That definitely sounds like something that would be right up my alley. However, I'm not too familiar with hacking so I don't know how to adjust run/pass tendency or injuries. Making all the playbooks the same is doable, but what plays should I pick?
  22. Ok, here are the final standings, sorted by winning percentage. Tie-breaker was point differential. 1. Buffalo Bills (24-3-0) 2. San Francisco 49ers (24-3-0) 3. Los Angeles Raiders (21-6-0) 4. New York Giants (19-7-1) 5. Kansas City Chiefs (19-7-1) 6. Miami Dolphins (18-9-0) 7. Atlanta Falcons (17-10-0) 8. Philadelphia Eagles (15-10-2) 9. Houston Oilers (16-11-0) 10. Washington Redskins (16-11-0) 11. Chicago Bears (15-11-1) 12. Minnesota Vikings (14-13-0) 13. Detroit Lions (14-13-0) 14. Cincinnati Bengals (14-13-0) 15. Los Angeles Rams (14-13-0) 16. Dallas Cowboys (12-15-0) 17. Cleveland Browns (12-15-0) 18. San Diego Chargers (10-17-0) 19. New York Jets (10-17-0) 20. Phoenix Cardinals (10-17-0) 21. Pittsburgh Steelers (9-18-0) 22. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (9-18-0) 23. New England Patriots (9-18-0) 24. Denver Broncos (8-19-0) 25. Seattle Seahawks (8-19-0) 26. Green Bay Packers (7-19-1) 27. New Orleans Saints (6-21-0) 28. Indianapolis Colts (5-22-0) The Bills' 3 losses were to Miami, Minnesota, and San Francisco. The 49ers' 3 losses were to Denver, Kansas City, and Washington. The Colts' 5 wins were against Denver, New Orleans, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, and Seattle. Interesting oddity: Every team with a winning record finished with a positive total point differential, and every team with a losing record finished with a negative total point differential, except the Washington Redskins. Despite finishing 10th overall and having a winning record (16-11-0) the Redskins' overall point differential was MINUS 30. Here are the divisions ranked by average finishing position of the teams in the division: 1. NFC East (11.6) 2. NFC West (12.75) 3. AFC West (15) 4. AFC Cent (15.25) 5. AFC East (15.4) 6. NFC Cent (16. Now for the Team Leaders in all of the statistical categories I tracked (basically just points, rush yards, and pass yards): (Note: Rather than listing the entire 27-game totals here, each of these stats is listed as a per-game average to give it a little more context) Most points scored: Buffalo Bills, 31.5 Least points scored: New England Patriots, 11.7 Most points allowed: Indianapolis Colts, 25.7 Least points allowed: San Francisco 49ers, 14.2 Best point differential: Buffalo Bills, +15.4 Worst point differential: Indianapolis Colts, -12.7 Most rushing yards: Los Angeles Raiders, 164 Least rushing yards: New Orleans Saints, 72 Most passing yards: Houston Oilers, 219 Least passing yards: New England Patriots, 99 Most total yards: Buffalo Bills, 322 Least total yards: New England Patriots, 176 Fewest rushing yards allowed: Pittsburgh Steelers, 76 Most rushing yards allowed: Indianapolis Colts, 125 Fewest passing yards allowed: Buffalo Bills, 111 Most passing yards allowed: Denver Broncos, 171 Fewest total yards allowed: Minnesota Vikings, 198 Most total yards allowed: New Orleans Saints, 273 Best "yard differential": Buffalo Bills, +107 Worst "yard differential": New Orleans Saints, -79 Most "rush-heavy" team: Los Angeles Raiders (58% of yardage from rushing) Most "pass-heavy" team: Houston Oilers (74% of yardage from passing) Note: Only four teams had more total rushing yards than total passing yards: Raiders, Lions, Giants, and Bears. As for Bodom's predictions: Rushing: Lions and Giants were indeed # 2 and # 3, in that order, so you nailed it on the head. Passing: Oilers, 49ers, and Bills were the top 3, so you were very close. The Dolphins were actually 5th after the Rams. If there are any other stats I forgot or that people are interested in, let me know. But I didn't keep track of individual player performances, just as a team. I could also post individual game records if anyone's interested (like most total points scored in a game, biggest blowout, etc.). I think my next project will be to run a couple hundred SKP seasons and compile each team's average season performance under SKP.
  23. I love simming games, seasons, whatever. I'm sure some of you have simmed an entire season before where you have each game play out in full as COM vs COM, rather than SKPing through the whole season? What's that, I'm the only one? It definitely takes awhile, but it's not so bad if you use the fast-forward feature. Anyway, I decided to do something similar, but with a twist. You see, I wanted to know, under COM vs COM conditions, which teams had the best pass offense, rush offense, pass/rush defense, etc. (I'm talking about the original 1991 game, here). But just simming a COM vs COM season wouldn't be the best way of finding that out, since each team's strength of schedule is so different. I mean, a given team only plays 12 unique opponents over the course of its 16 regular season games (13 unique opponents for teams in a 4-team division), so they're playing less than half of their potential 27 opponents in the league. Then it hit me. I created a "super season" where each team would play 27 games, one against each other team in the league. Such a season would require 378 simmed COM vs COM games (28 teams, times 27 games each, divided by 2 since there are two teams in each game), whereas a normal Tecmo regular season is 224 total games. This way each team would have as balanced a schedule as possible, and it would be a more fair comparison. So that's what I did. And I just finished earlier today. It only took a couple weeks, with several windows open running in the background while I did other stuff on my computer. After each game I recorded the final score, as well as the total rushing and passing yards gained by each team. I have all of the stats in a spreadsheet, including the results of each individual game, as well as season totals for each team in wins, losses, ties, total points scored, total points allowed, total rushing/passing yards, and total rushing/passing yards allowed. I'm in the midst of finishing up finals but over the next several days I hope to post the results of the season. Until then, I thought I'd see if anybody wants to venture any predictions as to which teams led which categories, which team had the best/worst overall record, etc.
