  1. Wow, after SF the next five teams on the "Won Super Bowl" list are AFC teams... and combined they didn't win as many Super Bowls as the 49ers! The NFC is like Rinzler vs. the Field.
  2. "Pittsburgh No Offense Challenge"... isn't that just like playing normally with them?
  3. Most excellent! I don't know if I'll be able to get to Buffalo, but the tournament should get good east coast representation. I hope that you get a good turnout!
  4. Matthew Toolie Detroit Lions #16 - K Face: the one down there...
  5. Hi, I would like to play. I think my friend Nick (from the NE Ohio tournament) is signed up for this tournament? Please let me know if I make the list. Thanks! Matt O.
  6. The number of ties is what I found to be surprising. There were six total on the season. Although, the Lions never get this kind of love on SKP.
  7. Good to know about the FCEUX faster simulator. It was fun simming through the season, but it still took a long time on Nestopia. There were some strange results. Look at the final standings in the NFC Central, for example... Lions were the overall #1, but jobbed to the 49ers in their first playoff game. Final was Bills over Giants in the Super Bowl. Boring, but as usual the cream rises to the top.
  8. So I remember somebody talking about doing this and it got me curious. I'm using Nestopia to sim a season on max speed with all teams on COM to see if certain things are the same / different than when you sim the season with teams on SKP. The main things I'm looking for are 1. Teams that make the playoffs. 2. Total points scored. 3. Stats of the league leaders. So far there have been some odd things like the Bills losing to the Bucs and Colts and three ties through seven weeks (the Vikings have tied twice!). Also, the 49ers are 3-3. I was about 10 weeks into a COM season where the Pats were 7-2 but I accidentally saved over it! =-( The Pats NEVER make the playoffs when they are set to skip. Maybe 1/100 seasons. So stuff like this makes me think that a COM season will be different than a normal skip season. On a side note, watching these games at high speed is surprisingly entertaining! They only take about five minutes, and many of them have exciting finishes. Also, I noticed that the crowd animates a) when a play results in a first down or TD when the QB throws a pass. The endzone crowd is always moving.
  9. That a-hole that I had to play in the round of 32 is going sour grapes on the Facebook page! That guy was so angry... I wish I would have beaten him by more. That could be my only regret of the tournament. He had a pretty sweet offense of throwing up bombs (not too effective with the Saints, though... he should have selected GB if he was going that route). Fantastic time meeting and getting to know the crowd a little better this time around. I had a good number of friends show up and they had a great time as well. Another great game against Mort (this time in the round of eight), and I came out on top this time (SD over DEN by 10... a last minute TD with Mort blitzing). Then Chet gave me a lesson in the semis (WAS 24 - SD 6... it was 10-6 at half and I was lucky it was that close) and went on to win the finals as well. averagetsbplayer and I declined to play the 3rd place game and split the prize. Could have used one more tv to make it eight, but other than that things went real smooth. Earnest Byner really needs to get himself to an AA meeting...
  10. Good luck!!! You will have to share the details on Saturday!
  11. Does this mean that there will be epic media like there was in Madison?
  12. What is the effect, then (of the original bug). Does a player in excellent behave as if he were in excellent and the stats just show the wrong numbers, or is he really what the numbers show? Thanks!
  13. O'Dell, did you play in any of these events? If so, do you know if there will be a grand finale event for the winners? The prize of a trip to the national championship game is awesome!
  14. Two weeks to go... can't wait! Chicago + Tecmo + flowing Miller Lite + MSU @ Northwestern that weekend + surprise appearance by Cap Boso = da bomb! (ok, I'm wishing on the Cap sighting). O'Dell, since you're moving back to the D we should see if a Detroit-area tournament would be possible. Or at least get a regular Tecmo night going somewhere.
  15. Just curious: how do you do a 12-man tournament fairly? Why not go to 16 so that nobody gets a bye in the first round?
  16. The site says "Tecmo Bowl" tournament, but the plays in the background are from Tecmo Super Bowl. Which game is going to be played? Also, there are multiple weekly tournaments scheduled in Chicago? Jealous!!!
  17. What kind of local advertising are you guys doing? I would think there would be a ton of people in Chicago who would be interested in this.
  18. I am also used to playing that 4th man down is fair game. FGs should be pretty automatic to an experienced player, so I think allowing 4th man adds to the challenge and also factors in when choosing teams. The first time I ran into the "no 4th man down" rule (the only time, in fact) was when I played online last winter. I'll be cool either way, but if I had my druthers I'd say allow it.
  19. Very interested in coming to this, and I might be able to get a friend or two to come along as well. Will there be a site that has an updated list of participants and slots available? I can't commit yet, but I don't want to get left out in the cold.
  20. A quick question on the two 14-man groups. So I take it there would be two people who get the 49ers, the Bills, Oilers, etc.? Do those groups remain separate until the finals? And then what happens if two people with the same team have to play each other? Thanks.
  21. Nick was pumped when I told him about it, but the date may be an issue. He works in politics and I think this would be two weekends before election day.
  22. I am interested in a Chicago event. I don't know of many other players from Michigan, but I'd be willing to join up with some other states. Would there only be two teams, or could there be more? Also, does a doubles match involve two separate games, or players switching off at halftime of a single game?
