  1. I'm also playing as the Jags. Currently 7-4 and on top of the division. Loving the rom so far. The different defensive schemes adds a nice additional strategic element to the game. Some observations - It's virtually impossible (at least for me) to get a sack on the opposing QB. I have like one all year! The QB unloads the ball very quickly. Better than being able to sack the QB on every down, though. - Throwing the ball with Gabbert is a challenge, as it should be. Loving the challenge of it. - It's easy to run the ball with MJD, maybe a little too easy. It's weird, either I get a 10+ yard run or once in a while the opposing defense swarms to the ball and I get 2 or 3 yards. I'm averaging about 10 yards a run. - I'm playing 9 minute quarters and most games are in the 40-50 point range. - The opposing ball carriers are a real challenge to bring down in the open field, which is great. Playing this game makes me wish Tecmo or someone would hire buck and the other talented guys on here to make an actual updated Tecmo game. The stuff you guys do with these roms is just amazing, but there are limitations obviously with the core of the game, (like the passing game, for example).
  2. That's awesome news. I have to agree with Rod, TSB II for the SNES is probably my favorite Tecmo Bowl. It's similar but much more challenging than III. I've played a little with the Genesis versions.
  3. Exactly, it's a complete half-assed effort. How can anyone defend this total lack of effort? Just because they released a game under the name Tecmo Bowl? The real bad thing is this game is like a catch 22. If the game sells well, Tecmo will probably just release another downloadable version without much changed or improved. If the game sells poorly, Tecmo probably just won't release another version, even though this one didn't deserve to sell well.
  4. I hate to say it, but I called it before the game was released. I was excited at first for this game (of course) but the more I saw and read about it the more it looked like another half-assed, sad, cash-in effort by Tecmo. The company is clearly not the same Tecmo from the 80's and 90's. I mean, how much effort was even put into this game? Not much, that's for damn sure. They just took the code from the SNES TSB and added a shaky "3D mode" to it and half-assed everything else. I think some of the folks that do roms on here put more effort into their work than these jokers. I really wish a company would come along and just rip off Tecmo Bowl and put some real effort into it and release on XBox Live, WiiWare, etc.
  5. Actually, people have been asking for the old Tecmo game with new rosters and online play. This is exactly what people have asked for. If you want a new version of Tecmo, I have a copy of Tecmo Bowl for the PSX I can sell you. Again, it's cool that it's online, that is awesome. I'm just a little amazed at how little effort Tecmo seems to be putting into this game. I mean, no new plays at all? There's really not that many plays in the game to begin with. These aren't new rosters, Rod, they have identical ratings to the original SNES teams version for online play (although if there's 32 teams, who knows what ratings the other 4 teams will get). Offline, I'm assuming you'll be able to edit rosters. Still hoping Tecmo does an actual sequel! Maybe after this one if it sells well.
  6. But it's not a new Tecmo Bowl. It's a straight up port of the first SNES version. The only addition is a 3D mode. And it being online (which is a biggie, obviously). I hear what you're saying about it being good for the Tecmo Bowl community. That is a cool thing, obviously. I'm just dying for an actual sequel to Tecmo Bowl. Maybe it'll never happen.
  7. After watching that trailer I realized that this game is just a straight port of the SNES. No new plays, no tweaks to the gameplay, etc. I guess I should've realized it before. Tecmo once again just doesn't get it. Hopefully it'll be a hit if it means an actual NEW Tecmo Bowl and not just ports and bad "remakes" (DS version). Also, did anyone notice how weird the animations are in the "3D" mode? I'm assuming that's because it has to match the 2D (original) version in case you're playing someone online. That's a letdown. Anyone know how much Tecmo is charging for this? Anything more than $10 is a bit much for a straight up port of a game that's almost 20 years old, IMO.
  8. One thing to keep in mind is this version is being developed by a different company/developer than the one that did the DS version. I guess their track record so far is pretty good.
  9. Not sure if this has been posted (didn't see it). http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/sports/ ... id=6252682 There will be online play and 32 customizable teams.
  10. Yeah, XBLA and PSN are downloaded services on the 360 and PS3. It'd be awesome if Tecmo Bowl is online since I can't play online with a Mac. If the teams are customizable it'll be very interesting if you can take those teams online and play. Online leagues? That would be very cool.
  11. I didn't know what forum to post this in. Sounds very interesting. http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/13/rumor ... -xbla-psn/ It's a remake of the SNES version, complete with HD graphics and updated soundtrack. Doesn't say if it's online or not, though. There is team customization which is really cool. Still not a lot of info. Will it have 32 teams since the SNES version only has 28? Hopefully it'll be better than the DS version and Family Fun Football!
  12. This is even better than the earlier rom. Running against the COM is probably the best I've ever played in any rom of Tecmo Bowl. Challenging and rewarding when you manage a run over 5 or 10 yards. It's pretty realistic in that normally most runs go for 3-5 yards run and I've noticed that when I hand off to my RB I'm looking downfield to see where all the defenders are which is key to runs longer than 2 or 3 yards. The only negative is I've noticed that the COM's QB has a hard time throwing for more than 150-200 yards and doesn't normally complete a high percentage of passes (usually in the 30-40% range). I've been playing as Tampa Bay and boy is it a challenge!! But in the game against the Saints, Brees only had around a 30 completion percentage and only about 140 yards passing. I won on a last second FG, 24-21 in 8 minute quarters. The only thing that could make this rom better, IMO, is different defensive formations like the ones seen in xplozv's rom. Other than that, this one is near perfect. Awesome job.
  13. I played a game using the 16 n 0 version. Playing it has to be harder than in COACH mode. I was the Bears playing against the Giants and I don't think I had over 100 yards passing. Craig Heyward did have 100 yards rushing for me but it was a lot harder to run it, half his yards came on a 49 yard run. Basically I noticed after just one game - - It's much harder to move the ball offensively. - It's actually easier to stop the other team defensively since all my defenders all juiced up but strangely the COM's offense doesn't seem to be. It's like the opposite of Buck's juiced rom where it was extremely hard to stop the COM's offense but fairly easy to move the ball! I do have to agree with Elway that there are some plays that work better than others when playing the COM. Overall, no big complaints in that department, though. One other thing I noticed is it seems like the QB doesn't go deep nearly as much as the COM did in the NES rom.
