To any TB-lover, Though this section of Knobbe has been deader then it has been in recent times, our work and care for the Original Tecmo Bowl has not. We've started a 6 man leauge over at the wonderful Pure Tecmo, drafting 8 player groups which should be fun to analyse. Just register an account to comment. That's what I thought. I dunno, not counting OL( I guess we could draft that as a group if it really mattered) that's 16 players, or 17 rounds with OL group. That's the same amount of people in RBI you need to draft. Of course, some positions, like RB, have way more value then others, like TEs, or DE's vs DT's or other examples. But really you'd just have runs/mini-runs on positions, and there's still some dedate whether you should get a QB, RB, or star defender first. I certainly think grouping together DL AND LBs is really extreme, atleast break that down.

Maybe I'm taking this too literally, but you don't mean at this moment, do you? I might be up for it just now, and you appear to be online but not on AIM.

I think that people are just un-willing to try this game because they did a while back and they didn't like it or /are were turned off by its apparent extreme simplicity. The truth is that if you know what you're doing, there's a lot of strategies and the game actually makes a lot of sense. It has a lot of unique features, and is at least a great change of pace from TSB, some who've studied every feature think it is better. Overall, we'd probably just be happy enough to see some people try it, not even competitively or anything. Maybe some new guys could try playing each other after reading some rules and a bit of game-planning. Turd has a website in his sig which you could upload your games to, if you wish, as well. Amazing game Turd and I just had... He was GB, I HOU, it came down to a long field goal attempt. Final score 3-0 Texans, both sides missed a costly long field goal attempt. Both of us called each other's plays quite possibly the majority of the time, and there were a lot of punts and three-and-outs. It probably would have gone to overtime had Turd had one more play with three seconds left in the game, or if I hadn't got a long bomb on shot-gun pass 3. All-around great game, proud to be part of it

I don't know, but if you want to know the basics and beyond on each original play, here's a good place to start:

Man Drummer, we really need to hook up sometime and play some TB(Haven't seen you on AIM for a while). The Browns are pretty fun in the original to play with Dixon, Minnifield, and Kosar.

Actually we could do that, just as a gentleman's rule, not game enforced. The World Tecmo Bowl guys Compromised on 1 QB run per quarter because they have separate rules.

Missed the part on RB speeds. I could be convinced to lower MJD to Payton Speed quite easily, and maybe even to Curt Warner levels. The Jaguars have one serviceable player on the defense, so I think it would be fine if we gave him a 10/4/3. If the JAX offense proves to be to strong, we can give them a crappy playbook like WAS with a fixed WR reverse.

In general those HP ratings are meant to be for playing the computer, I think. The rom you're playing might have Tecmo-Turds juice as well, since I don't remember seeing it that much in my latest addition. But yeah, vs Humans it hurts the offense too much. At first I agreed with you about LA's playbook. But keep in mind that the Raiders have amazing personnel. They have the best receiving Corps, Bo, and a Second back that has Hershel Walker speed, its ridiculous. Their playbook has a very good variation of That Damn pass, and a slightly worse CHI dump variant. What would the Raiders offense would be like with 0/6s at TE and WR, a 9/3/3 at Bo's spot(Greene), and a 8/2/3 at Allen's. This would severely hinder the Jet's ability to get easy first downs on the pass, much like Denver's, and would probably lower the offense down to average, or even below. Keep in mind the Jets had a pretty decent running game last year.

No issues getting to either for me. Make sure you know what your select(right-shift by default) button is, that's what changes the mode.

Congrats to everybody involved, I'd like some input from anybody who's interested. Right now we only have one team with the fixed 2-RB playbook, the Raiders. That might not be the best for them, but I think it's alright for now. The other teams who I would consider for the LA's playbook are the Jets, Saints, and Panthers. The Saints might seem to be pretty odd at first, but I feel bad for leaving Pierre Thomas out, and they did have a pretty sweet rushing offense last year. RB 2 slot is almost a receiving slot anyway, so Reggie Bush would work there as an 8/3/3 back. Jets had the most Rushes, least passes, and Greene and Tomlinson will share a backfield. Carolina has two great Backs with Stewart and Williams.

I could actually see, if everything goes right, the Lions being an above average offense. Lets say Stafford becomes A Matt Ryan or Joe Flacco Year two, or even one of those year one, and Best is like Steve Slaton(rookie), than that could be quite a formidable group. Add in Calvin Johnson, one of the best 10 receivers in the league, maybe top 5. Of course it sounds a bit sketchy, but possible. It's hard to imagine the Defense finishing anything better than 25th or so, maybe 21st is ceiling. I could see them finishing 3rd, maybe even 2nd if they get lucky and Minnesota melts down, but that's less than a 5% chance.
