  1. Just wanted to throw it out there. The NFTGL will be organizing and hosting a TSBIII tournament in the Philadelphia, PA area around early June 2013. Once the venue has been determined and we've finalized the rules and format for the tournament I'll be posting all of the information here. Anyone that is interested feel free to contact me and let me know. I'd like to get a feel for what kind of turnout to expect. This will help in the venue selection process. Thanks,
  2. I've watched this a few times now. I loved the part where Okoye tries to beat himself... but i laughed the loudest when they showed the guy licking the cart to try and get it to work.
  3. The video was awesome and very well done. Are you guys playing online or do you get together to play?
  4. Season 2 will be taking place in NE Philadelphia the weekend of August 17th - August 19th. For those that don't know, the NFTGL is currently a 9 player league. We play 1 full season, each player controlling 1 team from the NFC Central/West with the Niners excluded. We play a full season from beginning to end in 1 weekend. At the end of the weekend we crown our Man Bowl Champion. We record the players and games of the entire season. Check us out on our site or on youtube. All season 1 games and results from this past pro bowl weekend are up. When season two is over we'll be editing and uploading all of our season 2 videos.
  5. I was researching quickness a short while back, and I found an article on this site posted a couple years back about all of the stats. After reading that we tested out what it stated and found that quickness does have an effect in TSB III... Quickness is a speed factor that affects the speed at which a man controlled player will move toward a receiver after a ball is passed, when the computer takes over control of the player, while the ball is in the air.
  6. Cutting in and out isn't worth it. I'd rather keep it with the split as we have it now. I have considered doing an outtakes reel or highlights from games, or things like that... but merging 35+ videos is already extremely time consuming.
  7. We're debating removing the player video and just overlaying the audio over the game video. To make the game more prominent... but then you miss out on golden moments like people getting ball tapped on film.
  8. Knobbe... I can get you the information on the video capture device i'm using. It's pretty awesome and comes with it's own software. It connects the system directly to the computer via a usb port. For the player video we're using a flip, but any digital video recorder should work. I'm looking into using a webcam, but am concerned about the mic effectiveness for the room with a webcam. The video editing is slightly time consuming no matter how you do it though.
  9. Thanks man... that split is what makes it the most fun for us. Alot of the commentary is NSFW. We all just have a fun time with it. We're not sure if we're making changes in any way for season 2 so far. My video editing skills are rookie level. So there are things I'd like to do, but not sure I'll have the time or need to make them happen.
  10. I completed uploading all of the man vs man game videos to youtube. Check out the schedule page on our website http://www.nftgl.com and enjoy the games... There are about 40 videos up in total. The Man Bowl championship is towards the bottom of the page. Hope you guys enjoy it. We sure did!
  11. hey everyone... The NFTGL website has been updated with some of our content from season 1. The first video is posted (in the schedules page) and more will be up this afternoon. There will be about 35 videos from Season 1. Hope you guys enjoy! It was certainly a crazy weekend for us.
  12. C. Corner (punter) A. Mom F. U M. Onopoly G. OD W. Houston (too early?) I've acquired multiple copies of the game (maybe 6 now) off of ebay and i've had 3 come with full lists of created players. The names are sometimes funny, but I find it more interesting to see the variance in how people have made their players. I recently got a QB with 100 hp and 100 BB and 44 coolness and the rest of his stats were 6's...
  13. building is easy!!! just sign Deion Sanders at the start of the season... he's a pick 6 machine!
  14. I don't have a location set yet... this is still all very tentative as I'm curious about interest. The more interest, the better chance of decent prizes and higher level of competition.
  15. nothing is scheduled yet, nor I have determined the rules... I'm more curious what kind of interest this would grab from the tecmo community. Would you come?
  16. I grew up playing the genesis version of tsb 3 and only switched to snes when I joined the NFTGL. The games play so differently that it made the switch difficult. HP is alot more important on the SNES. Kick and Punt returns are actually possible in the snes version, where as in the genesis you get murdered and there's even a glitch on the genesis version where your punt returner will get hit before the ball lands and the game will stall as no one can pick the ball up. Graphically though, the genesis is superior. I agree there. But gameplay wise I've grown to appreciate the snes much more. Especially defensively.
  17. I know the TSB III section of this site doesn't see alot of love... but for those of you that do visit here wishing for TSB III to be recognized for it's true greatness, how far are you from Philadelphia? because in Philadelphia we recognize it's greatness!
  18. I've noticed issues with slipping and fumbling and the general feel of it being easier to pass or run depending on the weather. I've also noticed differences in player movement. The biggest example I've found is between Reggie Cobb and Brad Muster. Cobb is generally faster in every scenario, but in rain games he never seems to pick up speed, while Brad Muster moves faster in rain than at any other point in the game. So I'm thinking it has something to do with RP, even though Muster doesn't really have a whole lot more RP than Cobb.
  19. Has anyone ever catalogued the in game effects of rain and snow in TSB III? Do any of the people who have played with the code for this game know if there's anything in the code that addresses effects of weather? Haven't been able to find anything on this. Thanks, Ray
  20. The game tends to ramp up slightly as the season progresses, but not as noticeably as it did in the NES version. Then some teams are just so bad that if you're good enough, no amount of ramping will help. But those later season games against Buffalo, Miami, San Fran and Dallas can get really shaky sometimes.
  21. Fake Audibling to try and coax the computer to audible is so much fun... There are very few DB's that can truly cover the entire field from Goal line... At least when playing another person. Against the computer you can even use crappy DBs for this.
  22. Try out the Atlanta Falcons. They have a killer defense and they operate the run/shoot with Jeff George who has the highest passing speed in the game. They have Metcalf and Mathis who are both very good receivers in the game and Ironhead Heyward (though he's slow, the HP makes up for it)... They might be right up your alley.
  23. Operate that kind of shut down performance against San Francisco while using the New York Giants and then we'll talk
  24. Yep... all on console. Trade/Off-season mode. All 8 of us hanging out plowing through a full season in 48 hours. We're planning to split Season 2 into two seperate 24 hour blocks so as to not crush an entire weekend with it.
