I've counted 230 in potential donations. Basically I need some of the people who posted that they would volunteer to say how important a chance at profit is. If it is not that important. As I cannot see Joe winning even an elite 8 spot. I can see him maybe getting a 100 out of this. Which I would vote would go to buying a round of drinks for all concerned anyways. But that is up to you guys, Get me your opinion on here or via pm. I think judging by the slow pace of sign ups and the limits of my patience we have till next Monday at least before I say times up. But I won't let this go on for much longer than a week before I can my involvement.

i rate it somewhere between 0 to (x/0). Where x can be any number as it is a mathmatic impossibility. At the very least I get the knowledge that Gats spurned all this good will to help him out. This will make a good joke come game day.

its not a big priority to me what he wants. I'm doing this to get him to Madison. It will help my bro, John from youngstown and myself to a degree. If you guys say 50/50 on big winnings that's generous in my book. it could easily be 60 percent sponsors and 40 percent him and I would not find it unfair. I have yet to hear from the Tournament organizers either. I need some form of control, Perhaps two checks. I won't have him cheat me, take the money and run.

Another side benefit of this plan is it lowers trip costs for El Tecmo of Youngstown. John lost his job 4 days before xmas. He is doing decent working off the books i think yet that is not the same thing. It would help to reduce a hard working tecmo player's costs. Not to mention a guy that has been to several tourneys and runs his own tourney.

Free breakfast at the super 8 is going to be crazy with maybe 20 tecmoers on the scene. I think I might call the hotel up and tell them we are actually a large group and see if they can be prepared to handle it. just in case i will keep collecting till i get more money. Maybe there is a little Caesars pizza. Maybe we can just split a sheet 4 ways several times. Perhaps I will just have to pack a pot and a burner and cook rice. I still remember the disaster of tecmo VI when I packed rice/pork and bean burritos to offset my food costs only to forget there was no microwave in my hotel room. Then I had to search for a gas station to warm the damned things up as there was not even one in the lobby of the crappy motel 6 i stayed at.

Would you guys still donate at a split that gives Joe more money. The way I see it his chances of winning are quite low. That's just an honest assessment. First place 2,500 to 3,000 and we take back 600 second of 1,500-1800 and we take back 500 third of 1,000 or so and we take back 500 anything at 800 we take 400 anything less we pay sponsors first and Joe gets leftovers. That means if it gets below 400 he will get nothing, anything less than 800 we take 400 or all the money to pay people back. Basically if Joe wins 1st or second he can rake in some profit but if not he pays the people back who helped him out.

Ok. Here is my plan. Round trip on greyhound is 90 dollars maybe a 100 after tax I'm guessing from Philly to Cleveland. I assume he still lives in Philly. Add on 18 dollar gift fee when the card holder is not the rider. total bs of course he would get to cleveland early fri morning where louis and el tecmo would pick him up in my car and this is where I will return him. I calculate a 1/3 share of gas/toll expense for 500 miles on the way up and 1/4 on the way back. I will assume my car will take 28 miles per gallon freeway and the price will be at $4 a gallon. Tolls I am guessing to be 30 each time. If I have to I will pay some of this expense myself. 35 way up and 30 on the way back for 75 Hotel at a 1/4 of say 160 is 40 more entry 40 Food/drink for three days. hopefully 40-60. lets bring the estimate back to 340 if he can agree to this plan. we are already half way there from what I can see. I'd still like to get the 400 just in case we need a few extra things. I got to think of how he gets to the station for example.

He can exercise on his own damned time. I also need to learn a few things about him. I will be in charge of his wallet so to speak on game day. I don't think he has any alcohol problems but there is a risk if he gets himself in trouble. I would expect no one to buy him drinks (more than one here and there) till he was eliminated. If someone wants to check in on his training program to get in shape that would be cool.

If he wins or comes in second he can volunteer some of his share or we can volunteer some of the winnings for that. When he agrees and the madison guys we can work out the details down to the nitty gritty.

well I got at least one person who would help sponsor you on my plan. I'm thinking of doing 20 dollar shares. I'm changing the goal to 400 to cover food costs. So I would need 19 more sponsors at 20 bucks and I would need your agreement to the earlier conditions. Also Chet or Josh to agree I would be in charge of distributing your potential winnings. Lets be honest. No one is going to pay 300 to 400 dollars for you(i forgot about vittles). Yet already I've seen two people willing to pay partial shares. That's two more people than you deserve. Do some sit ups, pushups and running to get in shape. Make some stuff up cause there ain't no gym membership in this deal. I expect you to be like Rocky and going up that staircase like a champ on that art museum the weekend before Madison. How much money do you have. Keep in mind if you put in say 100 than the donors will not take as much of the potential winnings Joe. It might make a sign of good faith if you could work a temp job for a week and collect some cash, As long as the first two sponsors are going to Madison I would prefer it that way so I can purchase his spot in the big dance asap. Then if he quits I can give you guys back your cash there and perhaps reserve the spot for another last minute high quality name in the tecmo community.

perhaps we should start a paypal campaign for Joey the Gatsman. I'd be willing to collect the money via paypal. Each person would have a share in Joey Gats based on 1 dollar a share. Our target goal would be 300 dollars. I think that would cover entry, travel costs and sharing a hotel room. Most likely he would either need a cheap flight to chi town or train to pittsburg and then to car pool. Which I would still be willing to cover if he had the ability to pay. This would give him that. If joey needs to cover the stake money before he can win anything. Split will be 50/50 if he wins more than 600 dollars. if less than 600 we cover the donations first then he gets any leftover scraps. If he doesn't go I will refund the money. I'd love to do more but right now I'm still inbetween jobs for two weeks and had to scrap to cover my flight costs for my own trip to Madison. I'd ask that everyone take this seriously. Perhaps next year I will run a donation for another out of luck tecmoer. Maybe one a little more deserving IMO.

my math was off. Big deal. its 2 to 3 thousand for first place. you get 90 % of that. its not 20 or 30 thousand dollars. Now if it was that much I might understand this desperation of yours to get the money.

If you want to change your life get a job or two, Save money and then think about going to school or doing something else to improve your life. 10 percent of a 2,000 or 3,000 dollar prize is not going to change your life for more than a few months. If your serious about playing tecmo than pay your way to get there. I offered to help because I thought you seriously would make an effort to get here. I missed that point. That is a good one and I still think some of the online guys just don't understand how good people in the state of Wisconsin are. They have been playing tecmo at a high level for a long time. Most likely longer than the majority of online player if you discount game play that occurred on Nesticle. Also let me know or someone about your plans to save you some money Joe. I know we will have time to pick you up in Chi town Fri afternoon or taking the train Thursday night in Pittsburgh. Lou plans to drive to youngstown thursday night to get el tecmo. Might be a chance at some warmup games. I'm an expert at planning these trips to save money and as long as you are willing to pay an equal share of gas I'd give you a ride if needed.

how are you getting to Madison bro? Not to mention do you feel comfortable with a normal d pad or do you have a solution to that? Let alone how many games do you play on console and who do you practice against? I'm going to be brutally honest. I don't think anyone who does not play a lot of games on console will have a chance in hell of winning this tourney. its a totally different game from playing online Tecmo. Yet at the same time if your getting at least 5 games in a week from now till tourney time I think you have a shot. Your most important thing will to be careful of matchups that don't fit your style.
