  1. Following up on the recent thread about foxsports.net mentioning Ex-'Burgher and knobbe, Deadspin's linked again to his site and they've prominently included knobbe.org.
  2. Wow, he nailed the Patriots winning by a safety.
  3. Has anyone ever done a history or timeline of online play/leagues for Tecmo? It'd be nice to have in some form if the community fades. I used to play Team Fortress for QuakeWorld and I can barely find info about stuff that happened in...1998.
  4. that sounds pretty sweet actually. We're starting a new league in a few weeks, and I'd really like to see more guys from North America playing (though honestly, since we use Kaillera servers in Europe, if you're not living on or near the East Coast, the lag becomes unmanageable.) Our channel is #nhl94 on IRCNet. On the East Coast, we're seven hours ahead of them, but most of them are real night owls, and they all speak English relatively well.
  5. I play NHL '94 online in leagues with a bunch of guys in Finland. Yes, I said Finland. They've managed their own sophisticated ROM hacks. Our most recently concluded season used AHL teams and logos (though every team was rated identically for fairness). NHLGamer
  6. Right hand on the arrow keys. Left hand: D - B F - A E -Select R - Start I'm right-handed, by the way. I guess I've just played enough computer games with the keyboard that I can handle NES games just fine. I also found back when NESticle was popular that certain 3-key combinations my keyboard would not process properly, but others would execute just fine.
  7. Probably when I beat JP in the first round of kimrari's even teams tourney, striking a blow for p4 players everywhere. He was up 7 at the half when he connected on an 80ish yard TD pass as time expired in the first half. He caught it at the 10 in single coverage (my guy) and then outhammered the A button (which seldom happened against me to that point.) I managed to fight back, though, and go ahead by 3 with time running out. We'd had a disconnect, so we were on a less than perfect clock setup, but he drove down the field and when we reached the agreed upon time, I told him he could have one more play (I think he'd been trying to call timeout but some lag was hindering him or something.) He was about 20-25 yards out, and I was sure he was going to score a TD to win on his last play, but instead he tried a FG and made it to force OT. We started a new game to do the OT, and I won the toss. I marched down the field (largely by scrambling) and kick a short FG to win it.
  8. Bye weeks! Bronco Nagurski didn't get no bye weeks! And now he's dead! Well, maybe they're a good thing.
  9. I vote for QB Eagles to be the first guest. I also think he should wear a dark shroud over his head and torso the whole time.
  10. This Salon.com article (yes, Salon.com) takes a cool look at the lasting fame that athletes get from video games, though it's always "Tecmo Bowl" and never "Tecmo Super Bowl". Talk about Roenick in NHLPA '93 and Bibby in NBA Live 2004, too.
  11. Personally, I find it to be a legitimate tactic, as being on offense gives a player certain privilieges in terms of controlling the clock. Besides, how do you prove it? A guy can just say, "I was thinking carefully about my play."
  12. Unless he's talking about changing his player on defense once the play has started, which is impossible.
  13. Are you saying it's the sheet you actually made or just one you'd seen all those years ago?
