  1. The tournament was a blast. I liked flo's use of "magical"...that's the only way to describe so much concentrated Tecmo. The cameraderie was excellent as well; no one seemed to get too bent out of shape by a loss, be it legitimate or by bullshit. Although I wish a couple of events had occurred a bit differently in my semi-final game, Jimmy truly impressed by playing such a mistake-free game. Warren! Between Jimmy's tactics and Mr. Moon's composure, I was done for. I thought the tournament format in particular was great. Things kept moving and were wrapped up by...eight? Eight-thirty? Either way, it was all very efficient in spite of the booze. Overall, none of the groups seemed to be too overpowered, but a good half of the participants were relative or total unknowns, due to the huge expansion. Fortunately, the results will give some basis for more thorough seeding next year. I took quite a few pictures. However, I generally kept the flash off so as not to disturb those busy tecmoing, so there's going to be a pretty high attrition rate when I cull their numbers. Either way, I'll send the whole package to Chet for promotional purposes and post some of the better ones here. PS In case it has not been made clear, I am Peter.
  2. The tournament has expanded. Below is the email Chet sent out this morning: This just keeps getting better. If you're on the fence about coming, I hope someone pushes you off.
  3. I will not play this game with any QB other than Burt.
  4. averagetsbplayer, I didn't know you were in Madison now, nor did I realize you worked with one of the Holzys (Chet?). soby, I double-checked to make sure you were up to date on this, so I'm glad to hear you're coming. I must warn you: James and Erik both moved to Madison, we have been playing non-stop, and both of them are borderline obsessed on exacting revenge. Everyone else: this tournament is the shit. Here was the message I included when I forwarded on the original email to several friends of varying degrees of skill Other than you guys not knowing who any of these people are, that summarizes reasonably well how I feel about the tournament. My only advice is that if you are certain you want to come and will be able to come, sign up quickly. Rod, any chance you could ever make it to a tournament all the way in Madison dubya eye? edit: James and I live a short walk away from both the Plaza and State Street, so if anyone does decide to make it a weekend, we'd definitely be up for playing some games Friday night, or just showing some out-of-towners around the glamorous bars of south central Wisconsin.
  5. As of tonight I am pledging to find the answer to this within the next 6 months.
  6. jstout, if +Wins = Wins - Losses < 0, does a similar (or identical) formula apply to your players? Alternatively, does an inverse of that formula apply to opponents? This is not trying to sound cocky or anything, but I assume most people on this board spend most of their time at even or better, so I'm curious.
  7. Sounds like a pipe dream without the necessary effort behind it, looks like a pipe dream without the necessary effort behind it, smells like a pipe dream without the necessary effort behind it... If you do happen to really get something going I have access to a contact list of ~100 Tecmoers which I would be willing to share.
  8. that would have been considerably more exciting with a little more traffic on that page
  9. Unless I'm missing something, this is more puzzling than the original crytoquip or whatever you called it.
  10. Allen Pinkett never, ever, ever drops the ball
  11. All-time, I've returned 3 punts for TDs, all against a CPU. I have only seen 3 INTs taken for TDs, all in man v. man games (and one against me...Lonnie Young why?). Not sure what this says about which is harder, but I've done one and not the other, so I went INT TD.
  12. This is a serious omission. At the peak of his game, Primetime was EVERYWHERE. I still remember the commercials. He's the only one I'd consider on the level of Bo Jackson. If the poll were just a couple years earlier, I'd go with LT. If it was 85ish-88ish, the winner would have to be Jerry. edit: I give you...Primetime Must Be The Money (How much more 90s can you get than Streetfighter?) (Deion is everywhere. Also this song was released in 1991.)
  13. I've always loved the tune to that song, so this one worked for me. Also: I never thought that a man like you could ever score on me Solid.
  14. I've yet to take an INT back against a human opponent, and had it done against me only once. However, a couple weekends ago I was in a little mini-tourney at the house of the guys that run the annual Madison tournament, and Rod Woodson went into super excellent and took two back, 60 yards each, on consecutive offensive plays by his opponent. It wasn't so much that he was incredibly fast, although he was, but he had the ultra-HP where everyone who touches you, human opponent included, explodes. I've never seen anything close to that, though.
  15. Who exactly were you playing in that first one? PS I'd be happy to do it with the Steelers.
