  1. Wow! You really dug that one out, didn't you!?😃 You got the same cart i do? I thought i saw him in there. On more than one occasion. Look, just cause the guy doesn't start... And why the hell is there so much space!??
  2. Gotta rehash this one.... I know it all comes down to everyone's ability and playcalling, as well as running, but whenever we all got together to grind out our seasons back in the hood, the 9ers never held sway over anyone else. We would obviously play the seasons as the cart would present them, and while they always made the playoffs, they made the Bowl only once. And that was on "Tecmo time" - it was a Neal Anderson fumble with time running out that sealed their fate. Else it was in the bag for Chicago. The Bears, Giants, Eagles and Lions really stepped up for us in the postseason games. Somehow becoming more than the 9ers could overcome. But of course during regular season they were pretty dominant. I believe it took a really good Rams player to actually make them lose their division crown the only time it happened for us.
  3. Props to you good sir for the "European" reference.

  4. You Canadian Ponce!

    AHAHAHAHAAHA!!!

    Sorry. Had to do that.

  5. Yup. This. CHI. NYG. SF4. BUF. HOU. KCC. And this of course all depends on who you play with. Like, MvM we never had BUF go to the Bowl. Believe it or don't. Sure they were good, but someone was always just a touch better. Same as HOU. MIA pretty good. CIN really good too. They step their game up in the playoffs it seems (well, they did for us - repeated as AFC champs). OAK was alright too. WAS was typically the fourth in the NFC, whilst 5th and 6th seed were always a scrambled bunch of everyone else. I think DET and PHI went twice. Now, this all goes out the window if you let COM run your opponents. BUF? Yeah, they're probably Bowl bound. But damn the NFC has a peanut gallery of opponents in the Bowl. Hell, i saw GB go once. Seriously? They freakin suck!
  6. Yeah. Dunno what happened there. I think autocorrect changed something some reason without my knowledge or noticing. Stupid small screens. But 'my team' always refers to the ATL.
  7. What happened to me?

  8. Lemme re-up another one. PIT/ATL. Where else can you get 1 stellar WR and a god-like CB with a QB you can't trust and 8 other interchangeable rogues?
  9. This thread had webs on it... 1 = CLE. GB sucks. I like CLE's offensive weapons. AHAHAHAHA! 2 = PHO. My team is so frustrating on this cart. Even with Bad Moon and Deion. 3 = MIA. Seriously? Not even close. I like challenges, but damn. It's Browner or nobody for MIN. 4 = I wouldn't play this. If I had to choose, NE I suppose. Cause I'd have to. 5 = Tough. Probably HOU. Too much fun. Probably get beat though. The Giants are the Giants.
  10. And this is why it's near impossible to have a balanced offense. RBs seem to go into BAD more often than any other position.
  11. Okay, really stupid question here... But what is this? This is a hacked-rom league so that teams can be built through a draft? And with 28/30/32 teams?
  12. Hey Tecmoers! Got a neat little idea here, and wanna see who's interested. Me and a bud are starting a season like our TCS/ST3CS where we MvM the entire league and each of us has an opportunity to be every team. Again, same as our TCS/ST3CS. Difference here is this is the first time we have done it with ROMs and ems. BUT We're gonna add some fun to it. We've always done this with the knowledge that the endgame(s) are gonna be Bowls for top teams and the bottom 2. But we never actually treated it like 'true' bowls. We've gone simply with how they finished in their records. Granted, that is most likely how anything would end anyway. But to add some fun to this, we're thinking we might try doing this one like true college polls. To that end, we want to get this out there and see who wants to help us start a Tecmo Football Players' Writers Association. This group would be responsible for voting on teams in the polls each week. What we'll do is play our games each week, post the results then the TFPWA will vote based on how the teams fared over the week. It will be crucial for the Assoc members to be knowledgeable of the teams on the original cart since that is what we will use. We want to make sure wins and losses pitting proper teams will go accounted for. For example, if the Colts were to manage to beat the 49ers (AHAHAHAAHAHA), the respective jump in the polls by both teams in opposite directions should be noted due to how we know the teams play. The results will be posted up upon completion of our week, and will remain up for as long as it takes for the members to vote on the positions. Only members' votes will be counted. They will vote on all 28 teams and then be tallied for placement. We'll only leave the poll available for a certain period of time (TBD) so that there's time to get polls out before a next week gets completed. Keep in mind this will be for fun mostly. We may find that the end polls simply keep with end-season records anyway, but the polls may help take into account the 'any given Sunday rule' and give something different to do. Plus the TFPWA could be used elsewhere, should other polls arise. Any questions? We would like to get started soon, so responses would be greatly appreciated. We will do a preseason poll (also for fun), which will probably essentially be a tally of (yet again) ranking the Tecmo teams. Maybe we'll just go back and review those threads....
  13. I did one awhile back, evidenced here: http://tecmobowl.org/topic/1711-ahhh-the-giants/?hl=giants We were responding to a couple of the threads where others of us were sporting some numbers on that topic: http://tecmobowl.org/topic/1680-most-points-in-a-season/?hl=%2Bmost+%2Bpoints , and a possible challenge http://tecmobowl.org/topic/4052-anyone-ever-score-1000-points-in-a-season-new-challenge/?hl=%2Bmost+%2Bpoints And forgive my way of responding... I'm into archaeology.
  14. Man, it's getting to be a nationwide thing these tournaments. Who knew? Imagine where we coulda been 20 years ago with contact like this. Madison is gonna be a blast. It's too bad i couldn't get to this one. Sounds like it was too fun as well. Is there some pix or vidz? I haven't checked into it Rod, is your PM box full?
  15. Secules, Zolak, Graham, Willis, Nagle, Carlson (lawd help you if Moon gets injured), Gelbaugh, McGwire, Hakel. Yeah, they're mostly backups. But bad is bad.
  16. Interesting. Never did this one before. Lessee... Bengals - Fulcher Browns - Mack Oilers - McNeil Steelers - Stone Bills - Thomas Colts - (do i have to?) Bickett Dolphins - Roby Jets - Toon Patriots - Veris Broncos - Mecklenburg Chargers - Harmon Chiefs - Okoye Raiders - Gault Seahawks - Robinson Bears - Woolford Buccaneers - Cobb Lions - Sanders Packers - Haddix Vikings - Noga Cardinals - Tupa Cowboys - Laufenberg Eagles - Feagles Giants - Taylor Redskins - Monk 49ers - Lott Falcons - Sanders Rams - Greene Saints - Mayes Now, this was harder than it seemed because no matter how hard i tried their real alter egos leaked into my conscious to pick some of them. I assumed this was for the game though so i tried to do what i could to keep the real peeps out.
  17. Ha hA Ha......a beat down huh. You sayin' that the Browns or the Raiders can hold a candle to the Seahawks in Tecmobowl I just proves that you don't know what your talkin' about. Mack, Gerald McNeal, Kosar, Jackson, & Allen are stars of their respective teams, but I as a player would run circles around those defenses. I never said Fredd Young and Steve Largent were better than Lawrence Taylor or Jerry Rice, I said they're right up with them....(in the game)....cuzz they are. And another thing, just because the internet exists, doesn't mean a sh!t. Anybody can look stuff up on the internet, but not everybody can say they grew up in that era (of Tecmobowl) and actually watched games, and watched those players really perform. I can. So if you still think that the internet can show & tell you everthing you need to know about an 88' game, then you validated my point...............I still guarantee that I know a hell of a lot more about football than you. {p.s. I don't know where UES is, and I don't play on line, but the Northwest Tournament is on the 23rd of June next year, and if you come, I'll be happy to show you a few pointers} Dude. You rock. You take me back to a time on these boards before every topic started involved roms or hacking roms or new roms or something involving roms. I thank you for that. It's cool chatting old school cartage. That being said, if you sign just one of these posts with "cuz that is how bad i am" we will all know who you are... I digress. Not the intent of my post here. You proved my point by reiterating "anybody can look shit up on the internet". So any and every body can be armchair experts. I'm again 99.994% sure haven't grown up with these players and watched them in action. Mostly because i'm 100% sure you haven't grown up at all. If you are that old, why are you ranting off on a message board 'guaranteeing' this and boasting that? And why get all spazzed out about it? Time and time again with game after game of Tecmo Bowl (if you have in fact played it) any of us who have played can tell you, there is no "running around" defenses in that game. It just doesn't work that way. Most times these games with good players will probably end in a grueling 6-3 all-field-goal match because the game is just that unforgiving. Hell, you'd probably be lucky to see a score that high. Show me some pointers? I can say this with confidence and no arrogance - there is nothing you can show me that i have not seen or done with this game. "Grew up in that era"... Shee-yit I still have some of those games on videotape. WITH a few NFL PrimeTimes thrown in.
  18. Are you gonna bark all day, little doggy? Or are you gonna bite? You must be like 14 or something. Only preteens or young teens make pointless boasts like that and are proud of them. Are you proud of yourself? Cause i don't think anyone else is. Pretty pointless to "guarantee" you know more than anybody about anything in the time of the internet. While your point retains some validity due to the fact that that particular year Seattle must've been ONE of the best - they made the playoffs; they were apparently FAR from the best because they lost their only playoff game. Nor did they even get into the playoffs with the best record. Now Tecmo uses an amalgamation for the roster construction, but the key players remained the same. And those key players are really not that bad. But to say Fredd-d-d-d is better than say, LT. Or Largent is better than say, Jerry Rice - that's downright idiotic. And both of those hold true either in the game or for real, take your pick. I don't think you're gonna find anybody outside of some homer who's going to say Largent was a better receiver than Rice. Or Fredd-d-d-d was a better LB then LT. THAT is what makes your statement invalid. Scratch that. ... Both statements. Because if you believe this than your "guarantee" is also invalid. If proof was needed - you could use your "best" team against anyone elses best team (and i believe most of us would pick the Bears, Giants, 49ers or Browns; perhaps even the Raiders) and i'm 99.994% assured you'd receive the beat down. Every time.
  19. Uh, in front of the receiver. Down range from the QB. Ironically, the same places that would work in a real game seem to work in the video game. And i'm not trying to sound sarcastic on that. It just depends on the player trying to catch and the one throwing.
  20. Okay. I now question the validity of Tailback's personal knowledge of our beloved games. Seattle in the original was not that good. Now, i know that only puts them at 12th at best (and they most certainly are not 12th) but they are just not that good. 7th tops. I think we've established this before. Truthfully, i got to give it up though - Seattle is probably my favorite team on the original as well. Minnesota was alright, but that particular year was not good for my favorite NFL teams. Only three made it to the playoffs (hence were in the game), and they mostly sucked for real and in the game.
  21. WHAT!?! Are you kidding me??? I live there for a decade and try to get peeps playing and seeing if anyone will come for a tournament and no go and now that i have left NOW there's a tournament!?!?!?
  22. 'Tis true - you need look no farther than Emmitt Smith to find an RB on the TSB3 roster that can spin like a top almost every other play. He is definitely the worst. Even Barry doesn't seem to do it as often. But i would assume Barry should be has good.
  23. Ooooh! Ooooh! Can we wear masks that look like our Tecmo avatars???
  24. Great job, buck. Another fine as wine rom. But i gotta say, in no offense to you whatsoever - i will stay away from it. I think the 'high demand' for a setup like this comes from all the EA fanboys wanting their defenses on this game to act similar to that one. And i may be in the minority on this but that is exactly one of the things i hated about Madden/EA versus Tecmo. It goes back to that "feel" we have mentioned before. That same-play-pick-blitz is one of the primary things that make Tecmo Bowl what it is. And let me just apologize for this post, for i guess i didn't need to mention this at all. I just noticed this for the first time and it happened to be on a night when my coworkers and i got into all the highs and lows of sports games (particularly football). On a plus note i think i may have essentially 'handed out' business cards for this place and some of the online league sites, for each of them to a man did not know the ability to upgrade Tecmo Bowl existed.
