  1. SWEET SUGAR KANE as Bruddog once said...
  2. They actually rated the Jets RB's just right based on statistics... This taken from my thread here One really interesting factoid to me--- The Jets were literally a 4 headed RB tandem. Brad Baxter, Blair Thomas, Freeman McNeil and Johnny Hector had 124, 123, 99 and 91 carries in 1990. They all averaged over 4.1 YPC. I've never heard of this before or since!
  3. Butts is my RB in one of the online leagues, that's why I have his picture He and all the 63 MS RB's are studs, but a QB with 75 PC and 25 MS is more valuable...
  4. DT perhaps not, but felt like I should put one more LB in the mix. Deion is more valuable than Lott IMO due to the slight edges in INT and MS versus HP. Browner may be better than Byrd, couldn't recall which had more HP between them and Mayhew/ Waymer....
  5. If we're talking about singular players (not tandems), the QBs and DBs rule. Top 10 offense: QB Eagles, Montana, Bo, Barry, Moon, QB Bills, QB Browns, Marino, Neal Anderson, Rice Top 10 defense: Haddix, Fulcher, Richard Johnson, LT, Woodson, Carrier, Deion, DT, Byrd, Waymer
  6. It looks cool but I bet there could be a lawsuit if Tecmo or Nintendo cared enough. If this person started making a lot of money and the word got out, I can see them being banned from ebay just like modified consoles (mod chipped, etc.).
  7. So apparently someone is flashing carts with updated rosters and selling them for $200+ each on eBay. I couldn't believe my eyes: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tecmo-Super-Bowl-2013-NES-Nintendo-Game-Cartridge-RG3-Robert-Griffin-/121064982996?pt=Video_Games_Games&hash=item1c300909d4
  8. I'm referring more against the CPU, I hardly ever played TSB III against human opponents. But my point is, the HP was overblown. Despite his speed, it made Heyward (and a few others) absolute beasts because you could run right up the gut for big gainers consistently.
  9. I'm one of those who doesn't care for the HP in TSB III... They made hitting power so dominant that Craig Heyward is a top 3 RB in the game. I also thought the weather effects were done poorly in TSB SNES and TSB III, in addition to the sounds (ie. pre-snap hut that sounds like a redneck). And just the overall feel/fluidity of the game cannot be matched with the NES version. And the dive plays on the SNES games were lame. Overall I still enjoyed the SNES versions (except for TSB 2)... The worst little drink coaster ever was the Playstation version of TSB. What a train wreck that was!
  10. Interesting... If this is just the original rom, the results should be somewhat consistent.
  11. I just recently bought a SEALED complete set of 1991 score football. Funny thing is I got it on ebay for like $12 shipped. That's probably less than it cost back in '91! The reason I bought the set is not for value, but that it covers the year of Tecmo Super Bowl... And there are 690 cards with nice descriptions on each. Probably 95% of the players in TSB. Pretty cool just to look through the cards.
  12. He was not better than Bo, but nearly the same as Payton: http://www.tecmobowl-vs-rbi.com/tecmo-player-rating.html
  13. Awesome, found it here-- http://www.tecmobowl-vs-rbi.com/tecmo-player-rating.html Thanks!!
  14. In honor of 1989 score football, here we go:
  15. Sadly these threads are always about the kickers, as they're the only ones who can play into their 40s these days...
  16. Anyone have a working link to the NY Times article originally posted in this thread?
  17. Anyone know the actual attributes (ie. for speed, INT, REC) from the rom? In TSB we could see them all, but from what I recall this is not an option in Tecmo Bowl. I am curious which players are better (ie. Duerson versus Minnifield, Timmy Smith versus Joe Morris, etc.). Just wondering if anyone has this data. Thanks.
  18. I played both versions of Tecmo Bowl (friend had the cart with Dickerson, man I always wished I had that version but I was stuck with Bentley)... I don't recall Dickerson being as fast as Bo. I think he was more comparible to Payton, not quite as good as Bo.
  19. Good stuff... I always liked the Cardinals blue unis!
  20. Would be cool to see a consolidated coaches list of former TSB players.. I see their names all over the place in NFL magazines.. Probably 2-3 per organization on average!
  21. '89, which brought us Barry, Deion, Aikman, DT, Cris Carter, Michael Irvin, Tim Brown, Thurman Thomas among others...
  22. M.D. Perry (fridge's bro?) and Dickerson were the 2 most notable omissions. Dickerson was out part of the year and had a contract or suspension issue, which would likely explain his absence. No idea why Perry was left out though.
  23. I tested it through 3 quarters of a practice game against the CPU, had no issues. Nice work! But, I can see this step being difficult in games against an online opponent: 9. Another message will come up saying hit ok once you are at kickoff(coin toss) screen. 10 Don't hit OK until you are at that screen What if your opponent wins the toss and continues before you have a chance to click OK?
  24. Cool to see some guys I've played against (and beaten a few times) profiled on the show. Wish I could attend the Madison tourney, but it's a long way from Florida so probably won't ever make it unless I hit the lotto!
  25. A few mis-spelled names: Pau Gasal - Pau Gasol Amire Stoudamire - Amare Stoudamire Ratings look great!
