  1. I've been looking into baseball advance since I got a GBA. It's a pretty cool game. I can edit some of the graphics and I may program an editor for it. I can't seem to find where to edit the AVG, HR, SB and RBI's though. If I can figure that out, I'll probably create an editor. Does anyone have a manual for this game. What do the colored arrows stand for for each hitter in the lineup screen. thanks.
  2. Coach K would be cool. I looked into it a long time ago and couldn't figure out how to hack it. It would probably be easy to change the players names and possibly stats but if I remember right I had a hard time trying to change the guys numbers on their uni's. Also I'm pretty sure the graphics are compressed much like most EA Sports title logo's. Which means you can't hack them. I could be wrong but if you look around there aren't too many EA sports titles that have been hacked. I made an EA NHL editor for SNES but all it could do was change uniform colors and players names.
  3. I just bought a GameBoy SP and a Flash Card. I haven't had much time to mess with it yet but TSB and Pocket Nes will definitely be on there. Thanks for the info about GBA
  4. To my knowledge you aren't doing anything wrong. I think the team names are actually graphics and they are compressed. I believe I looked at this a long time ago and somebody else on this forum had the same question. I think they're compressed and there is no way at them. As for uniforms, you may be able to change their colors with the Snes Pallette Utility I created. I think it's in the downloads.
  5. I used a relative search tool. The dos one is the one that I use. I think it's called SearchR or something. Anyway, you look for the difference between the letters in alphabetical order. A=1, B=2, C=3...... So California is 3,1,12,9,6,15,18,14,1 (I think). Hit return after you type those numbers in and it will probably show about 4 or 5 places in the rom where that word appears. Open the rom in a hex editor and type in the numbers for ANAHEIM (1,14,1.....). If you don't know how to use a hex editor then this task is probably above your head. Good Luck.
  6. johnz1, I just saw your posts here about the editor. I was going to answer your question about trading but I see you found the import roster. You got the right idea with excel. Using excel and KGB Editor it should be easy to update. I programmed KGB. It is lacking some things and has room for improvement. I just didn't feel like working on it much after the first release. It is pretty easy to change California to say Anaheim. As for changing the graphics I think somebody else found out that it is impossible. When I was spending time editing KGB I spent hours trying to find out where those damn team logos were. I guess they're compressed. I really wanted to put new team logos in there but couldn't find them. I did find how to change uniform colors but it's kind of tricky. I'm a Rangers fan so I changed their uniforms to be blue instead of red. When they are in the field though, you cannot change their hats to blue. You can only change their hats to red or black. Anyway, glad you like KGB. Is there a place to download your new rosters? I'd like to see them.
  7. I thought it was for rating. So you could see how good guys were before you changed their name and numbers. I haven't looked at it for a while. I programmed it and I guess I don't know then. That was my intention though was to have it be the rating.
  8. If you're not new to rom hacking then you'll probably understand this. If you are new then you'll want to read some documentation on rom hacking first. In Hex workshop you can see most of the text for the rom(team names, abbreviations) on the right side as you scroll down. You can just change it there. But, for some weird reason there are a couple places where team abbreviations use different hex numbers so you don't see them in a hex editor. You can do one of two things to find the hidden abbrev's. You can use the relative search program to find it or I believe you can goto the screen in nesticle, pause it, view the pattern table and write down the hex numbers for the letters you want to change. I think there is two sets of numbers in the pattern table. Write down them both. Do a search in hex workshop for those hex numbers and you should find the hidden team name abbrev's. They are listed in alphabetical order starting with Atlanta(of course). This should get you started. If I'm mistaken and you can't view the numbers in the pattern table in nesticle then you have to use the relative search tool. I think I just used relative search. good luck.
  9. I just saw the post about the 12 man screw up. It looks like it was something I did when I edited graphics. Unfortunately I have no idea what I did to do that. I hope you guys figure it out. sorry.
  10. I won't be doing a bad news baseball hack. Now that I think about it I'm not even sure if I'll get to a baseball one. I've been toying around with the baseball stars and bases loaded games for years but never really enough to release anything. It definitely won't be RBI. RBI is a great game but there's already a good editor for that.
  11. I completed editing the graphics on the NES Tecmo NBA game. I have passed it on to Rod and hopefully he will post it on the site for anyone to download. Feel free to use it as a template for future versions. It includes the great rosters from Scott Mattson so credit goes to him for that. Here's what I changed. 1) Updated team and home court logos for over half of the teams. My favorites are the Warriors, Nets, Pistons, Cavs and Suns. 2) Changed Tecmo to ESPN. If you don't like it, play the old version. 3) Updated team uniform and home court colors. These may need some tweaking. 4) Changed scoreboard names to team 3-letter abbrev instead of names that it had. This was because new names needed to be added like the wizards. 5) Changed team names like Charlotte to New Orleans. Most of this was done by Scott Mattson but there was a couple that were missed. 6) Changed the background color to black instead of blue. Here's a couple things that need to be noted.... 1) The Denver logo had some mirrored tiles in it so it looks a little funky on the team data screen but it looks fine on the denver home court. 2) The hornets also has a mirrored tile so it looks funky on the team data. I couldn't figure out how to fix it so if anybody knows how to then be my guest. 3) The team logo sizes were determined by the previous logo. For example, the kings logo might look small but that's because I didn't have much room to work with. The Sonics logo was altered a bit to get it to fit. If not then it would have been much smaller. Other then that I think it's pretty decent. Hope everybody likes it. You can post suggestions but they probably won't get answered. I'm too burned out from working on this game. I'll probably move on to a baseball game next but that will be awhile. Actually I'm surprised I finished this one .
  12. If I have the time, I definitely will. Spare time is my only drawback right now. I'll pass whatever I get done on to you. Great roster update.
  13. there is a great version with 2003-04 rosters. I think the link is under the message that says Tecmo NBA 2004. I've edited some of the logos, uniforms, and home court colors but I don't have anything to distribute yet. I don't have any information on the progress of the editor.
  14. ok, for some reason I'm still hacking (NES) Tecmo NBA. I've edited the logos for the midwest division with new spurs, wolves, mavs, jazz, rockets and nuggets logos. Here's where I'm stumped. All the logos in that division are pretty friendly to work with except the nuggets. The nuggets logo has 3 repeating tiles in it. The Hex at line "0D54"reads "60 62 62 65 66 62 69 6C". As you can see "62" is repeated. To fix this I used two other tiles from within that graphic that weren't being used so I changed it to "60 62 4A 65 66 50 69 6C". It worked like a champ.....so I thought. On the team select screen it looks great but when you view team data it still shows the repeating tiles. This means that the logo data for the nuggets on the team data screen is buried somewhere. I CAN'T FIND IT!! This is the first team I've ran into that does this, I'm willing to bet that it won't be the last though. I'd like to continue to work on this game but if I run into alot of this I'll just scrap it. Any help with this would be great. If this is not clear enough then let me know and I'll try to explain it better. thanks.
