Thanks for the advice KNOBBE.  I noticed this some time ago, and tried to fix it by abbreviating the first names of the players (maybe in later versions not posted).  However, this did not fix the issue with the NFC-west teams.

The problem arises in some hack that I used, in combination with the TSBToolSupreme.  For some reason, the pointers for the player-name-lengths in the NFC-west is not being re-set, especially for the Stanford Cardinals.  If you know where these pointers are, you'd be my hero!

I worked around this in my latest rom ("GOLD EDITION of NCAA") in which i just shortened the names of the players to fix the set-length as described by the pointer.  For instance, John Elway is written as Jon Elwy, in order to fit the pointer length of 7-characters (8 if count the jersey number).

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks for the plug SBlueman. I’m working on an All-time college football game (for instance, USC will have Reggie Bush, OJ Simpson and Marcus Allen at RB.....while UF will have Tebow and Wuerffel at QB).  

I’m sure I’ll catch a lot of grief for the player selections , but stirring the pot is always fun.

So I've been having a similar issue with the names.  I try to use the TBSToolSupreme app, but it gives me an error each time i use it and screws up the rom, making unable to play (probably because I've changed quite a bit to the rom)

I understand how to change the lengths of the team names and mascots by changing the length of each pointer that is associated to them, so i assume that it is the same for the player names, right?

I'm just not sure at which hex-location these 'player-name-length-pointers' are at.    Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

Of course the CRIMSONTIDE would ruin it for the rest of the NCAA.  The mascot name can only be 10 letters long by the looks of it.  It can be longer in the TEAM DATA page, but only works if its ten letters long in the TEAM RANKINGS page.

Really enjoy this website and love the literature on rom-editing, as I find this more fun than playing the game at times.

I've come into an issue with changing the team names/mascots, which ultimately affects the 'team rankings' page in season mode (see image below).  I'm trying to update the NCAA game with more accurate/full length names, but when i do so, there is an error on this team rankings page.  This error is not specific to the individual teams, its just specific to the rankings numbers 15-17 (in the image below ranking positions 73, 78 and 69 correspond to 15, 16 and 17 respectively).

I've narrowed the error to somewhere between the pointers x1FC10 -x1FFCF, but cannot seem to find the culprit. 

Has anyone else run into a similar issue?  Any input would be much appreciated!  Thanks again!
