Winner of coin toss is player 1 and chooses tier. Loser of coin toss chooses team from tier player 1 selected or a lower tier. Winner of coin toss chooses team second from tier originally chosen or lower tier. 2. We will not keep track of teams used during group play. Choose the team that best suits you in group play under the tier list guidelines. 3. Customizing Playbooks and Lineup Changes. You are allowed to change your selected team's playbook before each game. Checking the change / substitution screen is allowed during gameplay. Once per quarter for each player is the recommendation. 4. All substitutions of any player in any position is LEGAL. 5. No ties. If a game is tied when regulation concludes, competitors will proceed to OT. All OT’s will be 5-minute sudden death periods. If no one scores in the first OT, the second OT will be only the first quarter in a new game. This process will be repeated until a winner emerges. So that one competitor does not start with the ball in every OT period, the receiving team (i.e. team that gets the ball first) shall alternate beginning with the second OT period. 6. Defensive Lineman Lurching / Nose Tackle Dive / Any D-Lineman Dive is LEGAL. 7. Nintendo Malfunctions: If there is an equipment failure in the first half, games will be replayed from the start. If equipment malfunctions in the 2nd half, only the second half is replayed. In that event, the scores from each half are added together to obtain a final score. If the game was uncompetitive or the equipment malfunctioned due to human error, the tourney organizers reserve the right to declare a winner without replaying any portion of the game. 8. Tournament Disputes: Troy GBLAN aka Trojan1979 is the sole tournament referee. He will decide all disputes as he is not a competitor in this event, unless there are an uneven number of players. Substitute officials may be appointed by Trojan if deemed necessary. 9. Competitors are allowed to bring their own controller, but it has to be an official Nintendo rectangle controller, official Nintendo dogbone controller, or a Hyperkin, Cirka, Gamerztek, or Old Skool 3rd party controller. We reserve the right to inspect and deny use of any controller for any reason. 10. All systems are either original NES consoles, or compatible top loading clone consoles , all hooked up via composite connection on CRT screens. This professional live coverage will be voiced and broadcasted by Troy GBLAN aka Trojan1979 on The Retro Sports Gamer Channel. He is also organizer and voice of the GBLAN Online Tecmo Super Bowl Tournament. Troy will be showcasing the best players this tournament has to offer from opening kickoff until the champion is crowned! Additional coverage may also be provided, details will follow if this is the case. THE PLAYER’S STREAM: - https://www.youtube.com/theretrosportsgamer

Tuned in for a lot of the stream, had step out several times. Big props to Ray for holding down the stream all day when he wasn't playing. -
Trying to help a new bud here... Are you saying you are hosting, or participating in your first tournament? Each Tecmo tournament varies, but typically speaking most established tournaments will ban defensive line lurching, and allowing a WR or TE to run the ball on non reverse plays. Outside of that it's basically game on. This site is a great resource, but there are a lot more people out there that are fond of Tecmo, that don't visit this site on a regular basis, or haven't ever discovered it. I'd suggest making some posts in some video game related groups in your geographic area. Try to find a local pub or sports bar that you can gather at with a couple of TV's and make some friends. Usually that bar can help you get the word out and help draw in some new players. Playing against the CPU only does so much. You don't account for the variable coverage and movements from a man defender, or the mind games played in the passing and juke games on offense. You may want to brush up on some videos of high level play. Head on over to the Retro Sports Gamer Channel on youtube, and watch some amazing Tecmo being played. There is the TPC2 championship video which just happened in April : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DGk4vlME4wQ and it's associated championship series between Darthrockman and Mort here : There is also an online tournament with lots of commentary that's actually in progress right now. you can catch the weekly vids in this playlist : Good luck!

I really wanted to make this. Kids + May = busy, so really sorry I couldn't do more. Hopefully you can attract more regional players moving forward. That being said, 10 for a first time tournament isn't bad. Keep the dream alive bud.- 12 replies

@Darth RockMan was big time in this tournament. Taking two from @Tecmo Psycho and Mort back to back is no small feat. For those that were looking for the stream link, it's here.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DGk4vlME4wQ Due to the length of the event, and upload limitations, Youtube deemed it necessary to end things after game 1 between Rock and Mort. It's my goal to have that footage separated from our local recording and uploaded as a separate video this week. For those that might be wondering what the longer pauses might be for, it's because of the round robin nature of the tournament, and the format itself. Because you couldn't call a match up your opponent had played in, as well as yourself, additional time and consideration was needed to determine what would be permitted. Due to the marathon style of the tournament with 10-11 round robin games plus the bracket, people needed a brief pause in between each game. I did not witness or hear about many blowouts, so the nerves of each player were certainly tested. As this continues to grow, I would imagine reducing the number of RR games will be a reality. I'd also imagine a possible reduction in play in games down to 1, as well as earlier bracket rounds potentially to accelerate the timeline before going best 2/3. Those decisions take place elsewhere of course. Congrats to the RSG guys for putting on another great event. It was fun to be there. On another note, someone had the bright idea of playing "Goodbye Horses" again.(Buffalo Bill cross dressing scene from Silence of the Lambs) This happened during the TPC I during bracket play last year. @toolie and I noticed it, and despite his absence this year, I let him know it happened again. Here was his response. "Would you lurch me? I'd lurch me..." I know @joeygats likes huge turnouts. Marginal growth of even just 10 people would add another $1,000 into the prize pool. The tournament is all about quality of competition, combined with quantity of games. Sure, your buy in is essentially doubled when compared to other national tournaments, but you get more than double the games, so keep that in mind when contemplating attending this in the future. GG everyone -

Still trying to iron out potential conflicts that weekend, but the intention is to come, bring the broadcast equipment, and stream the action on Tom's channel. I hope your viewers like my voice, because they're bound to hear a lot of it. -

If someone could pull this anthem performance off prior to the event that would be legendary. -
Wow! What a great tournament everyone! We set a new GBLAN/Edge Tecmo attendance record at 28, for a warm up tournament! Congrats to JoeyGats on his first GBLAN tournament victory! Green Majik took 2nd, and NMUFred took the D2 Championship prize home! Thanks to all of our sponsors and players for making it a great night! More coverage from Venture Wisconsin will follow in the days and weeks ahead! I'll provide a more formal recap as time permits, as the dust settles, and we return to normal life once again.

It's with a sad heart I must report Ahman Green had a death in the family this week. The wake is Friday, the funeral is Saturday. As a result he cannot be with us during this difficult time. Any one that was coming on the basis of his appearance will be offered a refund if they no longer wish to participate. https://www.facebook.com/gbnhl94/videos/2345073375738337/

Our current TSB cap is 32 players for this tournament due to time and space(estimated room for 16 setups) Between playing sponsors and paid players, we are at 27 players. While two of us(Myself and Baconfan) can step out to allow someone else paying in, we are still getting close to full. We are not competing against the Brewers this time, and we are only allowing digital payment, so we don't expect many(if any) cancellations from currently signed up players. We don't wish to turn anyone away, so if you were planning on being a part of the fun, please sign up!
