  1. I was in the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" mind set when the coin toss rule change came about. Was I a fan of it? Not really but I'm a mediocre Tecmo player so my opinion means little in comparison to the more elite players. Will it stop me from attending? No, shit I attend a tournament annually that allows WRs to play RB. The rule change will bother some of us but not all and believe it or not some players may not even notice that a rule change has been made. I will most likely end up play with the old rules due to my alcohol consumption fogging up my thoughts.

  3. Here we go. We're actually doing it. We're gonna let Johnny Johnson run wild in the Beaver (state). SirTed and I will be crossing the mighty Columbia to bring the Tecmo heat into the Rose City. Even though Gripsmoke and Tailback King are the only Tecmoers to make much noise out of P-town (one with his play, the other with his spray), they are both HOFers, and Oregon is due for some hot Tecmo action. WHEN January 28th, 2017, 11 am. (The Saturday between the Conference Championships and the Superbowl) WHERE Concordia Ale House 3276 NE Killingsworth St, Portland, OR 97211 (Ground Kontrol isn't big enough for all us heavyweights, I'm still down to hit it up after) WHAT Tecmo Super Bowl... and more... (get some) WYMAN well... Seattle has juice and Centralia is... centrally located, but it's time to mix it up and let Portland get some shine. The City of Roses. Bridgetown. Rip City. PDX. One of the jewels of the region and home to something in the sports world we are sorely lacking in Seattle- NBA Basketball. Ted and I will be parlaying our journey South into Friday Night Memphis Grizzlies at Portland Trailblazers action 1/27. Hope you can join us. AND This tournament will not just be a Tecmo Super Bowl showdown. In honor of Clyde the Glide, Terry Porter, and Rick Adelman's mustache, this event will also feature a (very small) Tecmo NBA Basketball Tournament. RIP CITY WHERE YOU AT TBK!? LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! (as if there was any doubt... I'm already putting you on the list, best make it happen) 1. Gripsmoke 2. Tailback King 3. DT 4. SirTed 5. Kamphuna 6. MAD MANYO 7. Tick 8. Xtra Largent 9. Oh this is gettin juicy. WHO ELSE?? Shout out your presence here in the forum or message me or SirTed up! This is your chance to be a part of the FIRST MAJOR PORTLAND TECMO Tournament and the FIRST (albeit very small) TECMO NBA BASKETBALL Tournament! MORE DETAILS We are STARTING at 11 am. Please don't be late. Show up EARLIER than 11, so we can do last second adjustments, explain the rules, and get to playing right away. Entry Fee: $30. Payouts: $60 to the top newcomer. 3rd place gets their money back. $60 for 2nd place. Champ takes home the rest. Loser's bracket champion will once again have their choice of two prizes with the Loser's bracket runner-up getting the other. FORMAT Standard Madison Rules for all matchups. You may only call a certain matchup ONCE the entire day. There will be 5 rounds pitting two random participants vs each other. Names will be drawn out of a hat and pitted against each other. At the conclusion of 5 rounds, the 8 competitors with the best winning percentage will be put into a double-elimination bracket to decide the Portland Tecmo Champion. ALL GAMES in round 3 will be Dallas vs Phoenix: The JOHNNY FREAKIN JOHNSON round. The 1st tiebreaker will be opponent's winning percentage, the 2nd tiebreaker will be Tecmo NBA winning percentage and the 3rd tiebreaker will be combined Tecmo NBA and TSB score differential. (Don't worry if you can't hoop, The 2nd and 3rd tiebreak shouldn't be a factor, really) Cash prizes will be given out to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, and the Top Newcomer. The remaining competitors will be seeded into the loser's bracket to duke it out for their choice of a consolation prize. If you were in Seattle this September, it will be very similar in structure to that only this time- 1) If you are late, you take an L. Be there at 11 am or risk forfeit. Exceptions will be made if we took a while to get organized or there is a shortage of TVs and there were delays otherwise, but lets everyone try to be there and ready to play by 11 am! 2) Everyone will get at least 6 games. Last time a certain amount of losses booted you, but this time, you can keep rollin and fight for improved seeding. And also, there will be some action on the side- A March Madness style single elimination Tecmo NBA tournament. Seeded randomly, this will only be for a trophy and bragging rights. Pick and rolls will be executed. Facials will be administered. Roundball will be run, but the focus will be on Tecmo Super Bowl, cause thats whats up. SEE YOU SATURDAY @PortlandTecmo

    Coin Toss Selection

    so, I either don't understand the wording of the rule or the reason for the change of the "coin flip" stuff. I recall that the "coin flip" winner simply would choose a matchup, and then the "loser" would choose to either: 1) take P1 and whatever team the winner doesn't take 2) choose a team from the matchup and take P2. this process is very simple, straight forward, and fair, in my opinion. am I reading this correctly that now the coin flip winner gets to call the matchup and also takes P1? what? this is actually the opposite of the way the coin flip was previously done for the past 10 years, is it not? did Madison do the coin flip this new way last year? how did it go over? you shouldn't get to call the matchup and get P1 because this seems unfair in favor of the coin flip winner, in my opinion. 1) a coin flip should't mean this much and 2) give the coin flip winner so much advantage right of the bat. forget "tap meters", there needs to be some data taken on the correlation between coin flip winner and game winner. I would bet that the correlation would be high, in this new format.

  5. I just hope to GOD my Tourney Schedule permits me to "Unleash the BEAST" on some of these noobies and show them what a REAL "Man, Myth, and Legend" is supposed to look and play like....................THEN.................once I'm in the playoffs, I can retire PHX, (after every Tourney rushing record is unquestionably shattered) pick a better team, and go on to destroy all my competition (which is all of you) with my underrated, unpredictable, and unparalled, passing game......................make it happen Commish!!! .....feed me the JABRONIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! {p.s. Oh,.. and D.T., phase out the basketball...football ain't over yet}

    Coin Toss Selection

    cool. bounce it around with the tecmo elite and think about it for the future. I will keep thinking about it, too. I am very thankful that Lincoln 2k17 is keeping the coin flip the way it has always been. Because I won't feel like the coin flip means very much and I need to win it every time.

    Coin Toss Selection

    I really hope that I am wrong, bruddog. because it would be wrong to give the coin flip winner any advantage. the coin toss should just provide a fair starting point. and to automatically give the coin flip winner P1 is to give them an instant advantage. for comfort, for onsides, for fumble %, etc. those are all advantages. at least in the old system, the coin flip loser had some control of their destiny, being able to choose a team or P1. not now. coin flip winner now gets a clear advantage, by automatically getting P1, before anyone even thinks or makes any decisions. and obviously I don't agree that a coin flip should determine who gets this advantage. ps- I am talking about win %, not points - points don't mean much to me, as they are very dependent on the teams being played with in TSB.

    Coin Toss Selection

    ok. if you guys don't keep tournament stats on coin flip win % vs game winner correlation, it would be irresponsible and a waste of significant (in my opinion) Tecmo win prediction data. I say start keeping who wins coin toss along with the win at this Lincoln tournament. and then take this data at every tournament for the rest of the year. publish results. and I will go ahead and predict that the coin flip winner has significantly higher win % than loser, under your new bitch-appeaser system. I still don't understand why winning a coin toss should be considered to give you some kind of advantage. the coin flip is just a "starting point", it is supposed to be a "fair start", not an advantage, right? because, the game should be decided on the field, not in a coin toss, right? the new rule gives the coin flip winner too much advantage, where there shouldn't even be consideration for an advantage in the first place. we might as well be sitting around flipping coins to see who wins and just playing TSB for fun on the side. am I crazy? I am not trying to be a dick.
