Ooo....I forgot to mention how much better playing in those leagues made you for LIVE tournaments. Imagine playing against Arncoem's 56RS 56RP 69MS 69HP 56INT LB twice per year......Or Stalltalk's 69MS 81 INT DB every year.....or Daboy with a 63 MS RB every time......You better figure out how to run, pass, defend against that or you are effed. You have to learn plays, and learn how to use blockers and blocking assignments, learn your progressions...... to do .....well.....anything..... Now go to a tournament and try to run with Blair Thomas against the Steelers defense, and watch how much better you are because you've been learning how to run/pass against a league full of LTs and Haddixs. You bubbies are missing out.

How I miss real GAIN leagues. Classic and Retro were so much fun. Tecmo is boring now. There was so much fire in Tecmo then. All the stuff Toolie explained about watching others players, going for GAINs, getting pissed off at poeple's good games, all the under cover seed planting trying to get people to defend or do what would benefit your guys, all the getting shitty on the boards.....it was wonderful. It made people care. It made people hate...and hate drives. It made controversy.....and controversy drives. Come on.....you cant tell me some of you guys dont miss hating TecmoBo for the trades he would swing....hating the Classic trade Kyle and I made just because it was Kyle and I....hating Daboy for getting 3 bills rushing and hating his opponent for being such a dumbass and letting it happen.....that was Tecmo in its prime. You want a challenge in Tecmo? Get a QB, RB, WR, OL, DL, and DB all in the top 5 to get GAIN chances (and reduce retirement chances), all while onside kicking....AND STILL WIN....tough as hell.... and it was so much fun. We had Tecmo on heroin....now we have Tecmo on Carmel lattes....I wonder why everyone is so blase. Close Classic and Retro....its killed Tecmo mojo...good idea... (Had to edit to add a "being")

Sounds like you guys would enjoy the new WTF! You're right that it's all about preference. I really don't miss it, but I'm sure many people love it. However, I don't think we're in this lull because those leagues were eliminated. Tecmo on, people!

Steelers are coming off a bit of layoff while their coach gets his head straight meanwhile the Vikings ride some momentum after a toilet bowl victory over the Bears Steelers ball first and its all Calvin Hill on the drive. Hill is able to get some great blocking leading the way to an easy TD. 7-0 PIT The Vikings hit a big play to Frank Pitts getting them to midfield but the drive stalls after a sack and a defensive stand on 4th down. With great field position, Dan Darragh his Ed Marinaro who gets tacked at the 1. 3 plays later the VIkings man defender gets knocked down trying to bump his DL which leads to a TD. 14-0 PIT The Vikings dont quit and right before the half, Terry Bradshaw leads a great drive down to the Steelers 5 with the clock ticking. After a huge stop on a run play, the clock is down to 1 second when the Vikings call a quick play. A shotgun pass is called with every man open, Bradshaw finds an open man in the EZ for a huge score. 14-7 PIT The Steelers defense comes to play on the opening 2nd half drive forcing a 4th and long in Viking territory leading to a punt. Hill does more damage on this drive as he breaks free on several big runs eventually leading to a TD. 21-7 PIT After a nice kick return, a big run by Johnson ends the drive when he puts the ball on the ground for a huge turnover. Hill scores on a long TD and a late score by the Vikings as time expires ends the game.. 28-14 PIT 28 MIN 14 GG Drake! Hill was tough to stop in this one and that fumble was killer when you were still in the game. GLRW and thanks for getting it in.

    Week 13: GB @ MIN

Packers looking to stay in the Central race as they travel to Minny for week 13. GB receives and gets a fairly quick score with Marv winning a juice-off. Ron A. Johnson breaks a decent run but fumbles it away. Virgil Carter appears to have Dave Osborn open for a TD, but some DB makes a cross-field dash and gets the pick. Frank Pitts with a big gainer, then Johnson gets his dive-blocker and scores to tie the game. Carter hits Jerome Barkum for a long gain and then Marv gets a one-yard run to go up 14-7. Vikes move slowly down the field, then Johnson beast modes down to the 5 with :10 to go. Vikes go for it but Casanova breaks up a pass to preserve the lead. Long story short, Bradshaw throws two picks in the second half and also are stopped once on a shoestring sack by W.K. Hicks. Packers add a couple of TDs to ice the game. 28 7 GG Drake, gltrw man!

    NCAA 2015-16

Who cares if you get them exactly right? You're right, no one can, but you do the best you can as a pre-season or early season rom. That's why last year I did mine after the season so it was clear. I just want to play NCAA TSB now with the current teams. And, I don't see the point of the best schools in history to determine this year's rom but if you made an All-Time rom then that would be the way to go. I do like the idea of pleasing the TBorg fans of college football, within reason, and make a rom that people want to play because their team is on the rom. I like Florida, Buck is a Kansas State guy, Knobbe is a Nebraska fan (BYU ouch), and if Baron Von Lector likes Syracuse (poor bastard) then so be it we add them too. Hell, Keirre can even have his beloved Wolfpack too!

    Week 14: GB @ NO

Rematch of a 1970 Divisional round playoff game with Bobby Douglass on the wrong side of the line of scrimmage. Saints receive and get 3 on their first drive. Virgil Carter finds Barkum in the back of the endzone to give the visiting Packers a lead. Saints in the shadow of their own endzone to start their next drive; Floyd Rice goes for the man-blitz on Douglass and he make him pay, hitting Lydell Mitchell in stride who takes it to the house. Then I think it went pick, punt, punt, failed JJ at the half. 10-7 Saints. Packers receive and Marv busts one for a TD. Saints drive most of the field, but Douglass is JJ picked by W.K. Hicks. Another Marv breakout seemingly puts this one away. Douglass hits Mitchell for a JJ TD with :30 to go but the onside fails and the Pack holds on. 21 17 GG Nos, always a battle. GLTRW

    NBA 2015-2016

About my Lakers: D'angelo Russell will win Rookie of the Year. Kobe will play in about 30 games. Byron Scott will make Pringles look like a great coach. Randle and Clarkson will be above average. They'll be on TV way too much. Most of the time I spend on RealGM will be spent telling the annoying Sixer fans to stop bashing the other rookies while they exalt their own rookie as a deity. Example from last year: Nerlens Noel was the second coming of Bill Russell because of some cherry picked advanced stats, while Andrew Wiggins was nothing more than a scrub player who'll top out as Dorrell Wright because of some advanced stats.

    FRAPS affect on games

Fraps shouldn't be making the CPU easier to beat.... that may be some user paranoia. If Fraps has any affect, it will be on FPS which can "slow" down games and cause stuttering if your computer can't handle recording. Fraps is however, going out of "style". Its quality is great but its arch is ancient. If you have an Nvidia VC, you can use shadowplay. There is also MSI Afterburner and Dxtory, which will both run on anything. I've used shadowplay and afterburner; their both easy to use and run very smooth compared to Fraps.

    FRAPS affect on games

Fraps will have no direct influence on your emulator. Unless your PC itself is slowing down, nothing will change.

Initially the idea was to just use yearly WTF:R rosters (i.e. their gains/aging/retirements) but when Brooks made a phile for us we had the ability to implement the gains based on our own stats. I felt this made a lot more sense in terms of who was gaining/aging/retiring; using the WTF:R results would have looked really random and you would have had strange players becoming studs / retiring. With the current system the good players in the league should even more closely resemble the players that were actually good (nobody is drafting a schmo who hits a low chance at a 44ms line and intentionally building them into a 63ms back). Also, we've insulated players from having a chance at retiring until they're 26. For folks that don't like the influence of gains on a league I feel like the extremely minor influence they have on gameplay in HSRL should be acceptable.

Nice yo. I'm starting to get excited. I hope all the Tecmo Enthusiasts in the Northeast can make it out to this, one of the great events in Sports. Personally, I am coming off back to back major titles in Buffalo and the PNW. The journey to Queens will be not unlike Jordan Spieth's journey to St Andrews after capturing the Masters and the US Open. I hope I can give it as spirited a run as he did.
