  1. That’s nice, Gats. I’m not sure how your post is at all relevant to that which was being discussed, but your analysis of my Tecmo ability couldn’t mean less to me. I’ve never claimed to be some God. Heck, I barely even play Tecmo anymore and acknowledged, just a few months ago, that Reg would soon overtake me. Of course, some of you online guys are already complete pricks to him for the same reason (becuz he’s good) even though he’s actually a really nice guy. You’d know that if you spent 5 minutes talking to him in person. It’s nice to win these tourneys, yeah, but I’m not on some conquest for world Tecmo domination here. I attend these tournaments because they are a fun and necessary break from reality, a chance to get the competitive juices flowing, and more importantly, a chance to spend time with my brother and friends. You and others have been taking shots at the competition in these tournaments for years, yet still hypocritically follow the stream all day long. I don’t get it, never will get it, and find it shameful. It's pretty hard to criticize fields that contain the best online players (Reg, Daboy, MV) and the best console players, yet you guys find a way to illegitimize these events and their outcomes. And besides, not everyone is there to win. Remember fun? Only one guy won on Saturday, yet everyone would go back in a heartbeat. You’re pissed for 5-10 minutes after you lose and then realize you’re drinking beer while playing a 23 year-old video game. #perspective Speaking of perspective, it occurs to me that I’ve reached an all-time low here. I’m in a message board dispute with a couple clowns I have no interest in ever associating with. There are clearly better ways for me to spend my time. Chris, I apologize for whatever role I played in derailing this thread. We should be celebrating what was another fantastic event. I hope these tournaments continue long after I leave the Tecmo scene.

  2. Then why play Tecmo Super Bowl? you wouldn't have online leagues without the creation of the original game. Throw a live tournament with a hacked rom and see how many people attend. You know I used to "back" online players for the longest time, but people like you are ruining it. At what point is he claiming he is a god? Tap, tap, tap, cry, cry, cry. You didn't see matty v complaining about the tap game in his final two games were he would lose 99% of them. He adjusted and he won. You didn't see Chet or Kyle whine about losing. They were both class and congratulated Matt. People have a first amendment right (both sides) and I understand that, but he has the resume. I could say that online players utilize the lag, foreign controllers, hacked roms, so they can feel better about themselves when making posts like this.

  3. I have to get Ken Brunner, my best man and last place finisher at #MWTecmoVI, to change the mobile settings to the video so it can be viewed. But you can watch the video on a desktop. Fantastic work. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=uE9_GETTx40

  4. Ok so Chet summed this up best obviously but I do have a perspective that may helps Gats out, so here goes....... without the efforts of guys like Chet, Josh, and Chris online wouldn't be what it is, I have gone to 2 tourneys the last 2 weekends and the majority of the new faces that no one knew where there because they saw the documentary on NFL network that was about Chets tourney. Several of those guys in turn start finding the forums and getting involved online, there are several new faces that have come out of youngstown. Bottom line to me is Live Tourneys are vital to the success of the online world, and to me its a near impossible argument. Now to MRTSB, Randy, and Tecmo God ( I have no problem with these guys and honestly like each of them) Here is what you cant gauge, the absolute most incredible thing about the live tourney experience that yall seem to forget, don't understand, or just don't realize. Its the relationships, the bond, the whatever you wanna label it, the thing that you guys will never understand until you actually go to one is that's the good stuff being able to put faces with names, being able to have a face to face conversation, being able to reach out and shake someones hand and drink a beer together that is huge. I will give you prime examples: where else can i meet Seth Silverblatt, Gerald (Suicide King) and Cricket, 3 great guys i would never get a chance to meet and talk to in person without a live tourney. I talked to these 3 guys about Alabama, Golf, our Careers, what a great opp to meet guys who were a mystery before. Putting a face and a person behind Art Vandalay, Luke is a awesome guy awesome player and a blast to hang out with Tony Orenga met him last year and picked up right where we left off after not seeing or talking to one another in over a year Jon Jones (Daboy) Having a 30 min conversation with Jon about his family and the highlights of his sons little league season Playing the game of my life against Mort losing on the last play in heartbreaking fashion then drinking a beer and talking matchups literally 5 mins later Talking to Josh and Chet and getting to know that honestly tecmo domination is not what they do this for couldn't meet to cooler ppl they are there for all these little things above. Helping Chris when you can and watching the whole process and the effort he puts into to not only the tourney but on a daily basis in everything he does, check out his newspaper Chris Vogt is so much bigger than the tourney he runs, but you have to know him to see that. Talking to Brad, Kyle, and Matt Miller, Brad is having a baby soon how awesome is that!!! Matt Miller is a outstanding guy and for two years now i had a blast talking and hanging out with Matt. and big news flash here Kyle is not a robot that is a tapping tecmo machine, Kyle is a cool guy, works as a trainer and like all these guys is so much more than a screen name that wins 98% of his games. Being able to celebrate with Matt Vogt as he wins that tourney As Chet stated, these tourneys are really about so much more than winning, only one guy wins its so much more about finding common ground and hanging out with great ppl, how many other places can you find a bunch of guys doing something competitive and drinking with no problems, has there ever been a big brawl at a tecmo tourney or even a fight? Answer: No not to my knowledge. That is so awesome and the FUN of these tourneys is what its all about

  5. Great tourney, great food and great people. Was really fun. I'll recap my day. Speaking of the jump tip INT, I had one in a practice game before the tourney. My opponent jumped to catch it, it went to the grab screen, only he didn't grab it, he just tipped it on that screen. Back to the game screen where my guy (I forget who it was) INT'd it. The ball wasn't tipped on that screen though, just looked like an overthrown pass. Weird. Game 1: vs. Khris K. I pick Lions v. Vikings, he calls Vikings. We are tied at 10 w/2 min. left and he goes for a FG. I block it w/Cofer but Fuad RRRRRRReveiz picks it up and you know the rest. My 40 yd JJ heave at the buzzer is INTd and I lose 17-10. Game 2: vs. IRAM from KC. PIcks KC v. SF, I pick SF. I'm ahead 24-17 late and he hits a 80 yd JJ on 4th and 10 to tie it and force OT. I punt on the first possession, but he fumbles on the first play as he tries to get out of bounds. I kick a FG and win 27-24. Game 3: vs. JJ. He wins toss and picks Min-LARams. I choose Rams. I'm up 14-0 at half, but he battles back and ties the game with 3 min. left. I drive and kick a FG at buzzer. Win 17-14. Tourney Game 1: vs. Excell. He picks Hou-SF. I pick SF. Lott absolutely dominates and I put up 35. Cant remember exact final. Tourney Game 2: vs. Tick (Travis . He picks NYG-SF. Again my offense is unstoppable and I drop 35 again. Can't remember final. Tourney Game 3: vs. Tom B (8 Bit). I pick Atl-TB. I took entire 1st Qtr to go up 7-0, 8bit answers in 3 plays. 7-7. I hit Rison in stride for a bomb burning his CB for a 14-7 lead. I think 8bit scored a FG before the half for 14-10, but I did another superlong drive to go up 21-10 in the fourth to put it away. Tourney Game 4: vs. Khris K (rematch). Khris K picks Sea-NE. I take NE, and knew this would be a squeaker the whole way. I hold him to a FG early, and tie it up. I finally break through for a 2nd half TD and hold on for the 10-3 win. Tourney Game 5 (winner bracket final) vs. Jeremy. I call TB-Phx, and he takes TB. Defensive struggle the whole way, Jeremy finally breaks through late in the 2nd half and beats me 10-3. Tourney Game 6 (loser bracket final) vs. Pete B. He calls NYG-SF. People kept giving me SF throughout the day (I don't recommend doing that FYI). I made one stop and had two great drives to lead 14-0. Key play was end of 1st half. I INT'd a JJ attempt at the end zone with 5 seconds left, giving me one play. I heave an 80 YD JJ to John Taylor and instead of it being 14-7 or 14-0 at half it was 21-0. Big swing. Pete did great in the 2nd half w/a TD and onside TD so it was 21-14 without me doing an offensive play. But I made a key stop late and added a Brent Jones TD for 28-14 win. Finals Game: vs. Jeremy. he recapped it well. I held him to FGs and an INT in the end zone, but couldn't capitalize when I was inside the 10 both times. Threw an INT to Haddix on the 5 and couldn't punch it in from the 10 w/four shots. Jeremy played great and was tough to score on. Fun times.

  6. Good games to Chet in the final 4 and Regs in the finals. Once you downed that half beer and said, u win....I said bullshit, get me a full one! That was so exciting! Beating world #1 and #2 in back to back games makes me feel great. What a fun tourny. Can't thank Chris, Aaron and Aj Fullam enough.

  7. Congrats to BigMV, well played and well deserved! Is that the official revelation of of Tecmo X Chet? I hope our game was inspiration for it! Another live success.... you notice the only people who dog the events are the ones who don't show..... surprise

  9. I love that video! Thanks to Chris and AJ for putting on another great tournament. #MWTecmo gets better, bigger, and deadlier each year. Congrats to Matt for taking the trophy. From my perspective, I was thrilled to make the Final Four again (missed out last year), and to win a game in the lion's den that was the Best of the Best. The Tecmo gods shined upon me throughout the tourney. My two losses on the day were to Chet and Regulator, and i can live with that.

  10. great tourney guys and thanks again for coming! sorry I didn't post yesterday was very busy with kids all day...my daughter decided to take the permanent marker we used for tourney and draw all over the kitchen walls....ugh next time I put things away when I get home and don't wait until next day... as for games..Like i said before I was going to record and post on my youtube channel but my battery went dead during final 4 game between moulds and gridiron, Ill try to go off memory here... Pete and Tom..brothers played in loser bracket..I watched most of this game...KC vs BEARS very good game with all you can hear is the tapping ability of tom and pete amazing! but for game play it came down to a 4th quarter drive for pete to put away his brother. Travis and Pete played next omg what a game no score until 4th I think and then pete hits a crazy 100 yard jj to tie up game, where moulds drove easily down to the 20 but fumbled in ot where pete ended up scoring after to end the game. next game was tony and Pete...everyone knows pete is a very good player but tony is equally as good if not better..just does not play online, as for matchup pete wins toss and selects giants vs 49ers...tony takes 49ers of course...he takes early 21-0 lead on some good plays but a lucky jj to end 2nd quarter to taylor, start of 3rd gridiron drives and scores 21-7, he does onside kick, gets the onside!!! then drives and scores again 14-21 now....he tries to onside but misses kick meter and kicks it full, ends up stopping tony on downs I think on a pa deflection by LT, so now 4th quarter and a chance to tie up game after being down by 21!! He drives to about the 40 I think and tries to throw to end zone but get int by lott to end rally, great game by both competitors very fun watching strong players play live also, I'm excited to watch regulator and chet next year in madison, now that leads into finals, tony J vs me hawkeye98, I win toss and select seattle vs patriots..(reason being I've been practicing this match up all week, so I felt comfortable with both teams) Tony takes Patriots which I figured he would with strong defense compared to seattle, very sluggish game I get a early fumble by him and get field goal, I also drove down to the 10 but settled on fg as well so I lead 6-0 at halftime he gets ball to start and gets jj to 10 yard line but I make a stand and get a 4th down and 5 int in the endzone, I drive down to the 20 or so but throw a horrible pick on pass play 2--I tried to throw across the field!ugh horrible decision and he gets ball back now, drives down again but I stop him on downs at the goal line again!! this time I baited him to think I was throwing short but throw long pass to blades to end game. Great games vs all competitors some memorable games I played was probably against craig in round 2...my hardest game to win I thought based on circumstances...he picked chiefs vs bears I took chiefs and totally shut down his running game with anderson and bailey but I fumble twice one for td!! ugh lol I ended up winning by 3 points I think but just a very hard fought game--I believe he told me he finished 2nd to chet in a tourney a few years ago and only lost in ot so a very good player. next round I played pete and only won by 3 also with browns vs packers 10-7 I think just a very well played game by both players, my first matchup vs tony I won also but very tough and won by 7 I think... Thanks again everyone for coming out..I updated website yesterday though, take a look and hopefully I didnt mess up stats that much... http://superiowatecmobowl.weebly.com/

  11. I called HOU/GIA and he took GIA. I actually felt I had a good game play-calling wise on D, but every time he needed a big play or got his play called on 3rd/4th down he was able to convert. I was down 14-7 getting the ball at half, but he got a stop on my first drive. Was 28-14 and I scored on the last play. Better results than what I've had playing him with middle/bad teams. I was pretty happy with the way I played all day. Lost to Chet in the BOTB 21-16 with the same match-up (big play was a blocked PAT by LT that kept it 14-13, then the next TD put him up two scores). Had a very good game in the round of 32 vs. suicideking (WAS vs. MIN) that went to OT. I got a drone pick from Bowles to get the ball back and scored a TD to survive that one. He had converted a nice 4th and 9 at the end of the game to send it to OT. It was a very fun day and a very well-run tournament (as was the one I attended two years ago). Meeting Fulcher was a treat; he was very friendly, was there for a long time, and took the time to talk with everyone who approached him . He drew the match-ups for the BOTB thing, so I told him I liked him less for putting me against Chet. He responded by saying I deserved it for wearing a Steelers jersey, or something like that. The championship game lived up to the hype. Just a very fun day all around.

  12. I believe we started the Randy Fairfield cult following, or should I say "DB Club" (anybody can read between the lines to figure out what DB means.) I'm glad that Randy was able to make an appearance in his own personal town of Fairfield, OH for the tournament. For those who didn't get to see the live stream, this was just a sample of how he made an impact on the Midwest Tecmo Tournament when he said, "If were I going to Midwest, I would win that too." It's amazing what quotes you can come up with to put on his own personalized signs when there is a collection of people who have heard the diarrhea flow from the gums for years. Other quotes that made appearances: "Randy loves Bradbears - giGGles" / "I deserved that" / "Jenny Craig" / "El Oh Ellard" / and many others. They were such a hit, I was requested to bring one for EVERY contestant next year!!!!! Thanks again for your presence Randy, you're an inspiration to.... well, nobody at that tournament. Told ya you'd be at Midwest

  13. Registration is being accepted for the 2013 Midwest Tecmo Super Bowl Tournament, which takes place July 27, 2013, at Rick's Tavern & Grille in Fairfield, Ohio. We look to cap it off at 64 spots, barring further interest. Former Cincinnati Bengal and TSB great David Fulcher will be making his third appearance at the tournament to share stories, sign autographs, take pictures, sell merchandise and represent his foundation. We also will be featuring the first-ever Women's Tecmo Super Bowl Championships, which is a FREE entry for any female interested in playing. A trophy and other awards will be given. Just an all-around fun event, which we dub the FESTIVAL OF TECMO SUPER BOWL. There will be raffles, door prizes and game-play prizes. All information, signups and paying options will be done through our website at www.mwtecmo.com. Follow on Twitter @mwtecmo E-mail at [email protected]

  16. I can back up all the smack talk. I'v been keeping written records since the 7th or 8th grade and never stopped. One day I'll bring my record book to work and post some of my season records...it'll blow your mind......Since I'v had my record book since 92' the first page of my official record book is yellowed with age, and the last page is pretty new, and isn't full yet. It's about as thick as a small magazine. (as the years go by, records get harder to break...naturally) Every time I go over 3000 yards rushing with a back, their name, rushing yards, and TD's go in the book...Every time I win the Superbowl, I have a Gold Pen I draw a ring on the page with, followed by the team, then followed by the game/season MVP. If my QB throws for over 5000 yards, same thing........my records range across the whole spectrum of Tecmobowls, from the NES 87' original, to the 'Special Edition' one on SNES......Records range from punt return TD's, single game yardage, sacks, picc's, receptions, touchdowns passing, to kick return season yardage, kick return TD's, longest runs, longest receptions, longest passes.........................you get the point. As you can see, I keep it real official...and my MAN controlled records will blow your COA mode records outta the water...not only because I really did um', as apposed to you who just watched your players do um' after you pick their play, but because there just BETTER. And I'd be willing to bet that I'm just an all around better player than you too.

  18. Can't wait to watch the videos of the final games. That other video was cool. Would love to make it out to the Midwest or Madison once. Live tourneys are just awesome, who cares online or live or whatever. There are lots of great players all around the country. Of course everyone wants to win but in the end, but Chet said it best, only one guy wins and it ends up being just a fun day with fellow tecmo'ers. Next legit tourney is NYC in October!!!

  20. I hope so. I'd love to see you run any other team besides the Cards. Johnny might lift you up - but the rest of the Cards are holding you back. Lonnie balls out on D too I guess but you'll need a lot more than that come MAYHEM!!!!!!

  22. This actually happened? That is fricken hilarious! TsbGod and MrT are expert trolls. They should host a Tecmo-based version of “First Take.” MrT somehow turned a joke about Fairfield, who many of us don’t even know and have no problem with, and used it to call us scumbags and question our ability to parent. You’ve really got to hand it to him—that is “Skip Bayless creative.” p.s. Nothing slanderous occurred. But I’m just an attorney, so what do I know.

  23. Somehow I forgot to mention the crazy "tipped JJ, INT" that happened during group play. I can't remember who was playing, but there were about 4-5 of us watching when it happened. It was a MIN/WAS game, player 2 was WAS and threw the pass from Rypien to Kelvin Bryant on a Pass 2 play (single back where RB 2 does a fly route). So Rypien heaves it about 25 yards down field and Bryant goes up for the JJ catch....but he drops the JJ and tips it right to the waiting arms of Joey Browner who was standing about 8-10 yards farther down field. Browner's positioning was a little bit lower on the screen and the ball was still spiraling when he caught it and it was like he was a black hole sucking it in. Has Bruddog or anyone figured out how/why these happen? It was like seeing BigFoot, but nobody caught it on camera. This supposedly happened at the Waterloo tourney last December too, but I didn't get to see that one. I just heard the reaction from everybody who did and if I recall correctly, it was Rod Woodson who caught that one. So maybe it has to be a super high INT player?

  27. This was a good tourney and a fun time. Jeremy won and I only got to watch one of his games (Final) unfortunately. He didn't lose a game all day! I made the trek from Lincoln with Craig, Travis B, and Steve. 3 of us had byes, but were unable to capitalize as we all wound up down in the loser's bracket after only a few rounds. I was very impressed with the number of good players here for a 24 man tourney. 8-bit & Steve M(Madison alums) are both very solid and I luckily avoided both of them, but I still had my hands full all day. After losing my 2nd round game to Kris K, I had to beat 4 guys who have been to the Madison tourney before (JJ, Kevin D, Ira, Kris K) along with my new rival Craig (he won Harlan and got 2nd in Lincoln this year). All that just to get to face Gridiron (Pete) in what was basically the 3rd place game. 3rd Place Game: Grid(SD) v Moulds (MIA) No scoring at all until the 4th qtr as both defenses were tough. I punted more times in the 1st half than I had all day long. I managed to finally get on the board mid 4th qtr with a Marino/Duper quick pass, but Grid got a nice JJ TD from Vlasic to Anthony Miller with only 20 seconds left to tie it up. I won the toss in OT and was barely inside FG range but on 3rd down I scrambled with Marino trying to make it a shorter kick and he fumbled right against the sideline before I could get OB. The ball of course bounces back in the field and now I'm madder than Ray Finkle's mom. #DieDan Next time I'll kick on 3rd down. Marion Butts was able to score a few plays later and Pete prevailed in what was a very good game. This loss hurt, I really wanted a crack at Tony/Jeremy. I was finally starting to play decent but not getting out of bounds was inexcusable there. Tony (dotdon) had a good day finishing 2nd, but was unable to capitalize in the red zone against Jeremy and his tough SEA defense as NE goes down in the final. I'll let Jeremy or Tony recap that one for you, it wasn't pretty but that's how all NE/SEA games go it seems. It was worth the 3 hour drive out there and I'll be back next year. Thanks to Jeremy and Justin for running it!

  32. So the old speed chart was off as my measurements were not 100% accurate. I haven't looked to see how far off they were but this sheet is 100% accurate. I measured how much hex distance a player traveled in one frame at various speeds. For those that just want to compare various ratings: Click on the SPEED WORKSHEET TAB and enter in numbers underneath the RS RP MS tab. Add 100 to a defensive players MS before you enter it in. speedchart_2.xls Here is one quick example of the technical details. WE will use a 38 69 50 ms offensive player as an example Player will start at a speed of 38 RS= 0.074 yards per frame. Since his RP is 69 after 3 frames his speed will get bumped up one notch to 44RS= 0.078 yards per frame. After 27 frames he will be at 94RS or 50MS both are equal. One other example. a 44RS 56RP 50MS Defender will hit his top speed in 6 tecmo seconds=2 real seconds. A 25 31 50MS defender won't hit his top speed until 13 tecmo seconds= 4.3 real seconds. NOTE: It only takes one frame of completely opposite input for you to slow down back to RS. For example if you were holding right in one frame and then down in the next you would slow down. Granted this is hard to do in one frame when the game is running at it correct 60FPS. You can make 90 degree cuts without slowing down because it takes a certain amount of frames for the game to register you are no longer pressing the other direction when its running at full 60FPS. So you are still sort of holding one direction as you switch to the next.
