Recent TopicsOff-Topic 30 Oct 2014Okay, so maybe all 8000 of us (rounded up) aren't active here all that much. But say we were - if we all chipped in $20.50, the price of a cup of coffee (at Starbucks), we could get this - One mans' obsession Seriously. Like, wow. Is that even possible? Is there a chance he could've played...
Full topic ›Tecmo Bowl 30 Oct 2014While messing around with creating my own Plays on the ORIGINAL TECMO BOWL, I noticed that when the offense and defense both pick play 1 (right on the game pad) in Los Angeles Playbook the game actually runs Pass 2. I noticed this before but always chalked it up to me possibly pressing the...
Full topic ›Off-Topic 29 Oct 20141970s/1980s NFL Strategy game acquired! My new no-deadline-fun-time-project is to create a digital version of this board game. If anyone has any advice for pre-fab digital card game coding/creation templates, I'm all ears. I have a few ideas of how this could be achieved with the skillz I...
Full topic ›Tecmo Bowl 28 Oct 2014http://www.gamefaqs....s/review-109599 Review by Eric43 "Get ready for some FOOTBALL!!" Tecmo Bowl is a pretty old football game, released back in 1989. There's only twelve teams, nine players per team on the field at a time, four plays per team, and the action scrolls left to right...

My notes for updating the 90 Command to allow the CPU to throw to open receivers rather than randomly. In short, the COM looks at each receiver one by one throwing to the first open receiver it finds. Open is defined as no defender within a specified distance from the receiver. The first nibble is the amount of distance to look and the second nibble is the receiver.
As of the moment, the COA and COM games seem improved in receiver choice. The MAN vs COM has been hard to tell as all or most receivers tend to be covered. I would love to hear input for both COA/COM vs COA/COM and MAN vs COM and any plays where I need to edit the default values (I might have the default size too large right now for playing against MAN).

One annoyance with the original Tecmo Super Bowl is that during a game you have no idea what condition your defensive player might be in. However, on an emulator it's possible to programatically display the conditions of both teams' players using the Condition Checker developed by Bruddog.
This is Bruddog's latest version for the emulator Nestopia, which is the primary NES emulator for online play
NEW IN THIS VERSION:
- Color coded player names (QB Bills, Bo Jackson) instead of QB1, RB1, etc
- Home and way team names(Bills, Colts) instead of "HOME/ AWAY"
- Conditions checker version 2 didn't work with NFC west teams on 32 team roms. All my pointer calculation was wrong. I have fixed that

There has been a bit of talk about motion recently. Here was a fairly indepth guide on the subject from xplozv.
The original thread -> http://tecmobowl.org...r-own-defenses/
Here is a guide I just wrote on how to create your own defenses. This is based off of Jstout's awesome guide "NES Play Design Info", which you'll find a few topics down. I spent a hell of a lot time studying that. Soooo MUCH thanks goes out to Jstout for that. My guide breaks down things even further dealing with everything that I learned from it. It covers placing your formation as you have drawn it up. You'll be able to create your own defense with Pre-snap movement. I also list some important codes for Post-snap instructions as well. My guide is spread across each TSB1, that is NES, SNES, & the GENESIS version, including how to calculate their pointers. With that all said, the guide is below and feel free to ask any questions.

Although the majority online players are honest you never know who might be cheating. I have created a version of Nestopia where it is no longer possible for someone to cheat by reading a state file to see what play has been picked.I also made the built in turbo effectively worthless. Your grandma should be able to tap as fast as the fastest turbo setting.
