Following the spirit of the tournament thread, please let us know if there are any plans or interest in night before/day of/after new player or casual training. Assuming I actually make it, I'd be happy to support. That said, my impression from last year was that most players in the tournament were fairly experienced.

Hey Yo! So I didn't write about this after last year's tournament, because I got sidetracked. Shame on me.

Just wanted to write that I am pumped to once again participate in this year's Raven's Head tournament. Brian and dudes do an exceptional job setting up a great tournament. As a tournament host, Brian is awesome. I can imagine it is not an easy thing to keep all of the moving pieces organized throughout the tournament, so I want to show Brian and crew the love they deserve.

THANK YOU, GENTLEMEN for setting this shit up. We players truly do appreciate your efforts.

See all of you f*ckers next weekend, where I will not make the same amateur mistake this year by giving someone Deion Sanders to run all over me... and yes, I'm still pissed about that.

Looking forward to another fun NYC Tourney. I'm enjoying retirement, and like last year, will be focused only on organizing and keeping things flowing day-of. Like last year, we'll throw a link out that morning for people to view our tracking/score sheet. That means live, constant, fast score updates for all those following along or checking in remotely.

I'll also pause tweeting anti-Trump stuff that day and replace it with observations and silly shit from around the tourney.

I just came back from ny on a uber ride and tolls were around $40 then gas was like $15. Oh yea Uber only gave me $80 for all that driving and i came back 2:30 hours by myself weeee so basically made $30 for five hours non stop driving and traffic sitting..   anyways what is the prize money?

Thank you to everyone who came out and celebrated our 7th annual NYC Tecmo Super Bowl tournament in Queens. Congrats to Kevin for going undefeated on the day and taking home the first place trophy!  I felt like this year had some of the fiercest all-around competition that the tournament has ever had.  The top 8 finishers were:

1) Kevin S (tadaos)

2) Matt D (Matty D)

3) Shawn S (stalltalk)

4) Erik M (arncoem)

Rounding out the top eight were Jim T (powerade), Chris B (Barletti), Brian R (BadMoonRison), Umberto R (discdolo)

This marks the first time that a NYC Tournament ended on an Overtime game, with Kevin's Browns victorious over Matty's Packers, 13-10.  All top 8 seeds advanced to the Elite 8, which may also be the first time that has happened in NYC Tourney history!

Raffle winners!: Matt B, Anthony M, Mike Mac, and Justin A

Tournament is Free for first time tournament players; $15 cash buy-in for anyone who has participated in a Tecmo tournament before

Tourney Format: Format will likely be double elimination.  All rookie players will be randomly assigned another rookie player and all tournament veterans assigned a tournament vet for the first round as space permits. All winners of first round matchup will be randomly assigned another winner of a first round matchup (same for loser’s bracket). Each round will be randomly assigned until only one Champion remains!

Prizes: Cash prizes will be awarded to top three participants. All participants will be eligible to win a raffle prize just for entering.  Top first time player will receive one free future entry into any Northeast Tecmo Tournament!
Equipment: We need Nintendos, TVs, Controllers, Carts! If you are able to bring any of these in working condition, please let us know what you can bring and how many of each. Team Selection for Each Matchup: A coin will be flipped before each game. The coin-flip winner will choose the matchup (i.e. the two teams). The coin-flip loser then selects either (a) one of the two teams or (b) his preferred controller. If the coin-flip loser selects his preferred controller, the coin-flip winner selects a team first.
Note about Matchups: The coin-flip winner can only select a particular matchup once throughout the entire tournament. For instance, if Player A wins the toss and selects Rams-Broncos, Player A cannot call that exact matchup for the rest of the tournament. Player B, however, is free to select that matchup later in the tournament.

      Rules:
Equipment Failure: If equipment fails during the game, games will be replayed from the start unless it is halftime. After halftime, scores are taken from the half and another half is played. Scores from each half are added together to form final score. Ties are allowed in pool play.  If the game is tied in elimination play, then a new game is started with the first person to score being the winner.  Any malfunction caused by human error may result in an automatic forfeit due to the discretion of the tournament organizers.
Onside Kicks: Onside Kicks are okay anytime (aka, "at your own risk").
Lurching: Lurching is not allowed (dive tackling over the line of scrimmage with a DL). DL use is allowed, but you must either go outside the Offensive Tackle or grapple an OL to rush.
WR/TE at RB: Running the ball with a WR or TE from the RB position is prohibited.  WRs or TEs are allowed to run the ball on reverses.

Come celebrate 25 years of Tecmo this year at Raven's Head on October 15th!

      Good afternoon everyone.

My name is George and I am new to TecmoBowl.Org. I am the new Volunteers Coordinator for the Long Island Retro Gaming Expo which is planned to take place on August 13th, 2016 at the Upsky Hotel in Hauppauge, Long Island, New York. Here is the link to information about the expo: http://expo.liretro.com/

I personally suggested to the organizers that there should be a Tecmo Bowl tournament at the expo. At the moment, I am trying to gather information about how to run a Tecmo Bowl tournament and make it attractive to not only the general attendance, but also the Tecmo Bowl community. Hopefully, once I gather information and have discussions with the organizers about this, I hope Tecmo Bowl will be added as a tournament and the tournament can be promoted and advertised for the expo. If there is anyone from New York/Long Island who would be able to assist me with the rules and format, and, in general, if it was possible to get feedback on how to make it successful, I would greatly appreciate it. Also, if you would like to run a Tecmo Bowl tournament at the expo, I can provide you the contact information to the Events Coordinator and continue further discuss. Plus, if you are from the area and want to be a general volunteer, please let me know. We do not have the incentives program finalized at the moment, but we are trying to make it reflect our appreciation for your sacrificed time and dedicated volunteerism. For the tournament, I would like to keep it at Tecmo Bowl for the NES, even though I personally own and like Tecmo Super Bowl for the SNES better .

Thanks for all your feedback and support. I really hope to create a successful Tecmo Bowl tournament for everyone and get to meet the Tecmo Bowl community at the expo!

P.S. I am also gathering information for NHL 94. We had a tournament last year, but the numbers were far less than expected. Just like Tecmo Bowl, I hope to gather information about the game and discuss with the organizers to add a NHL 94 tournament back into the expo and promote its inclusion in advertising, as well. Please message me if you have any information about NHL 94 or the appropriate forum to go to. Thanks.
