NFL 2016-17 Season Discussion

699 posts in this topic

Congratulations to the Denver Broncos for becoming 2015 NFL Champions!

It's now time for a little 'out with the old; in with the new,' and start an NFL 2016-2017 season discussion thread.

I'm curious where everyone feels 'their' team needs to strengthen itself?

What are the weak spots on your favorite team that need patching?

Do you think your team has the chance to be a contender next year if those personnel changes are made?

And away we go...!

hold on, let me go kiss my wife and kids, drink a bunch of Budweiser, and make a phone call to the Man upstairs, then I'll let you know what I'm thinking.

The Vikings need a new left tackle ASAP. Matt Kahlil has more or less sucked since his awesome rookie season.

"The ensuing #longread from Shaun King of the Daily News is at times hard to follow, as it attempts to summarize most of the 74 pages in chronological order. Also, King’s article displays a clear anti-Peyton bias, and more than a little melodrama. This #notaslongread item comes from the 74-page document itself, which has been published in full by the Daily News.
Before going any farther, it’s important to understand what the 74-page document is, and what it isn’t. The 74-page document is a piece of advocacy. The 74-page document is something that was written by the lawyers representing Jamie Ann Naughright in her defamation case against the Mannings. The 74-page document is, necessarily, one-sided.
The 74-page document is not objective. The 74-page document is not supposed to be objective. The 74-page document is not a court order or any other decision made by a neutral party. And, ultimately, the 74-page document is incomplete without comparing it to the corresponding “Facts of the Case” document submitted by the defendants in the case."

Chris Long, James Laurinaitis and Jared Cook were all released by the Rams. My mom and uncle want the Bears to try and sign both Long and  Laurinaitis xD Laurinaitis since he is the son of wrestling legend Road Warrior Animal.

Get out of here with that garbage. Not everything is race. We make everything about race. Their personalities are polar opposite. One is a partier and one is trying to be a hero. That is your difference. Not race.

Although I think institutional racism is a big problem in this country, in this case, I agree with with Dave. Another factor in this comparison being a case of apples & oranges is that Cam is a QB, and Gronk is a TE. Football has been positioning the QB as the 'star' for several decades now. Everything Cam does is amplified and scrutinized much more so because of the position he plays.

LOL, SMH.  you must mean the institutions of welfare and affirmative action jobs and college scholarships...or do you refer to a different "institution"?

anyways, the "writer" (or HACK, I assume) gives ZERO evidence for his argument.  He just says that "Gronk gets away with it.. But Cam PROBABLY WOULDN'T"....this is not an "article" this is a PILE OF SHIT.  I cannot believe people get paid to "write" this kind of horseshit.

Matthew VanTryon , you are the definition of a CUNT.

It's all been pretty bizarre how Cam Newton received some reasonable criticism and then it devolved into "well look at what player X did, he's worse than Cam but nobody cares!"  I'm pretty neutral on Newton and never thought he was getting treated unfairly... certainly not at a level that warrants all this "white-shaming" media.

Obviously there are always extreme examples, but when it comes to sports, success (not race) is usually the deciding factor on whether a player is like/disliked or heavily scrutinized vs. not cared about.

I am so sorry. I shouldn't have posted it. Didn't really think it through.

It's not your fault that Click and Clack have to turn every thread into this.

To be honest, I'm just sick of the DRAMA side of sports.  A few years ago it was cool to have a storyline here or there, but too many people have too many opinions on everything nowadays.  It's like... just watch the games and STFU!  In some ways, the NFL is getting exactly what it deserves.  In an attempt to generate more and more revenue, they keep marketing to non-traditional audiences (Coldplay and Beyonce at halftime?? C’mon!).  Too many casual fans, people who care more about the drama surrounding the game, than the actual game itself.  Now everyone has an opinion about something and the NFL is forced to address it.  The guy who wrote that article is obviously NOT a football fan.

It reminds me of an NHL conversation here a few years ago:

http://tecmobowl.org/forum/topic/57394-nhl-2013-14-discussion-thread/#comment-383438

I was quoting MGK when he said:

I bet when the NFL aggressively started doing everything in their power as a capitalistic business to bring in a larger audience (women, moderates, etc.), they didn't realize how much they'd be opening themselves to the scrutiny of the gentrified human resources police, and everyone with an outlet to spew their opinions of how they run their business.

My response was:

Hockey is pretty big in Boston (what sport isn't), but when I tell the common person/casual sports fan that I love hockey, it is always met with the same comments.  No one watches hockey, ratings this and that, the rules are dumb, etc...

Honestly, I'm fine with it.  In fact, I prefer it!

It goes back to your statement above.  The last thing I want is the casual fan taking an interest and eventually forming their sh!tty opinions on what they like and do not like about the sport.

Love how Brady is both the most and least liked.

While looking for the methodology of this polling I came across this line.

We still throw Tebow in our polling because he's such a lightning rod and despite not actually having played in the NFL in 3 years he comes out as the 5th most popular QB

In short, this is a graphically enhanced version of the original Super Mario Bros. for the NES.  Using Tile Layer Pro, I swapped out most of SMB's sprites with those found in Super Mario Bros. 2 and 3.  Those that I didn't swap, I modified to give them more of a SMB2/3 feel.

No gameplay was modified, as this is strictly a cosmetic update.  In fact, the only time I used a hex editor was when I changed the date on the title screen from 1985 to 2016.  Nothing more.

      Enjoy!

View File RBI: 2016 World Series
Celebrate the Chicago Cubs victory in the 2016 World Series with this ROM.  I don't typically do end-of-season ROMS, so this is kind of a big deal!

To commemorate the season, the title screen's color scheme has been changed to something a little more "Cubbish."

The ROM contains all ten teams that qualified for the 2016 Major League Baseball playoffs, to include:
Boston Red Sox Baltimore Orioles Toronto Blue Jays Cleveland Indians Texas Rangers Washington Nationals New York Mets Chicago Cubs Los Angeles Dodgers San Francisco Giants
I based the player ratings based strictly on their 2016 performance.  What this means is that, if a player had a down year in 2016, it will reflect on their in-game performance.

I've provided two versions of the ROM.  They both play identically to one another.  The only difference between the two is how the players are named.  The game only allows six characters per player name.  Version A has the players listed in traditional RBI Baseball compressed form (i.e. Bumgarner is Bmgrnr, Kershaw is Kershw, Donaldson is Dnldsn) and Version B has the players listed in my traditional truncated form (Bumgarner is Bumgar, Kershaw is Kersha, Donaldson is Donald).  On this note, I would appreciate some feedback as to which naming method everybody prefers for future ROM releases.

      Enjoy!

Super Bowl LI Season 2016 is here with TECMO SUPER BOWL 3.
Changes over the league have happened and now the season kickoff is real.

First of all Thanx to Drunken Honkey for all his advices, and help without you man this couldn't be possible.

      Over the Cap

The valuable information helped me to create the ROM, ttrying to be very accurate in attributes.
Remember I'm not good at graphics, I do my best but I still suck...

      Fine. The game itself.
30 Teams as you know, hope a 32 version arrives sometime soon because there's people working in this so difficult task, but in the meantime we have this.
The ROM contains every original team in TSB3 except for the Oilers. The Ravens are instead.
A complementary ROM will come in a few days with the Titans and Texans, removing Ravens and Browns.

      Features:
Real uniforms, including cut scenes. Attributes completely customized for every player. Rosters updated to September 08, 2016. Free Agency Points according to the salary of each player. (This means that you could have a very good player, but his FAP value is low). Playbooks customized for maximize the attributes of the offenses. Offensive schemes designed for obtain the best of the players. Defensive schemes according to real. 2015 Pro Bowl rosters and unifors (the uniforms shouldn´t take so serious). Real Free Agents in the pool. (Mark Sanchez is here because I suppose that Romo will be back, not for much; so he is in the Cowboys roster, and Prescott will be starter, so if you want to have Sanchez, go for him in the Free Agency). Complete new Hidden Players took from the 1966, 1976, 1986 and 1996 drafts. I took the best I could from every position from these 4 drafts.
Just enjoy it and let me know anything you notice.
      Be happy...
