Meeting Leif Powers, super nice guy.  Hopefully a bunch of you guys got to chat him up.

Hah, that's cool.  As soon as I saw the name I was like "oh, the guy who made that huge FAQ years ago"

Ugly:

Toolie's playbook vs Mort on Friday night (Chris Pike blows that shitty reverse up everytime!) Sorry I was drunk and giving you so much shit. (not really sorry)

This cannot get enough love - and I think we all ragged on him too much. (Just kidding - too little!)

This tournament was awesome once again. It was my third year overall, and to be honest, the first in which I felt fully comfortable from Friday through Saturday at the Plaza. My first year I knew my brother and saw "famous Tecmoers" but didn't branch out into conversations very much outside of my group. Last year I caught up with those same first group guys and then made more contacts with other players.

This year was a bunch of everything. I opened Friday at the BB and chatted it up with Knobbe and Brudogg, made quick acquaintances with Deuce and shook hands with dozens of guys. Hung out at the beer swap table and got in some good conversations and ended the night in a duel room at S8S with some of the greatest Tecmoers around (and they are fun to boot!). On Saturday, I kept roaming, continued conversations with guys from everywhere (where you at, Brandon Wagg?) all day and night - including the crew of NY guys I played with at the NYC tourney back in October.

I may not have won a lot of games this weekend, but I felt both Friday and Saturday I was playing my best and was holding my own against some really good competition. This year had sooooo many great players it was unreal - especially when you think of all of those who couldn't make it.

But if this is truly was the last tournament (#ONEMOREYEAR !!!), it was fantastic and worth more than the price of admission. Thank yous again go to Holzy, sonofpatbeach, Orenga, QB Browns and everyone else that ran the whole damn thing for all these years. Also, thanks to the BB for the great hospitality again, the Plaza for putting up with a bunch of smelly Tecmo dudes on what seemed like Lesbian night, and a thank you for the super hot chick in black leather pants who chit-chatted with me in the back room. I want to do it all again tomorrow.

To be honest I barely remember half of my games or the names of the guys I played. Thanks to Flo, Dave, and everyone who helped me out this weekend this was super last minute for me. Can't tell u how surreal it felt walking into BB seeing Chet and Reg (who doesn't look as jacked as he does via stream). Met a ton of new people and reconnected w a few as well. Props to "the kid" and gats. Gats definitely  deserved it and to think he went through play in to win it all that's a hell of a storybook ending to Madison. This is one of those things that you hope never ends but if it is over I can say I was a part of it.

Thank you to Chet, Josh, Tony, Bailey, the other organizers for all of your hard work and time that went into this spectacle and all of the previous ones, and Dave Murray for his excellent stream work. These tourneys have brought memories that will never be forgotten and fondly remembered for the rest of my life. I apologize if I leave anyone out, as I was pulled many different directions and met so many people this year it was hard to keep track. I was able to cut loose this year after my elimination and celebrate last year's runner-up finish(as I was the driver last year), so much was hazy...

Chet, Josh - you guys rock. There is not much more to say. Just glad I got to hang out more Saturday night with you two. Thank you.

Orenga - Always a funny ass time whenever you're around. Glad we got to drink together Saturday.

Bailey - Sharp Dressed Man in the flesh Saturday. Good to see you.

Dave F'n Murray - simply one of the best dudes(if not the best) in existence

Gats - congrats dude! You deserve this one. Hopefully that Saints/Skins matchup we played Thursday gave you some valuable info about how teams don't really matter THAT much in live play - it's a lot more mental than people think.

Louis, DT - it was a total blast hanging with you guys and I'm trying to get to Buffalo. (fingers crossed)

Brud,  Knobbe - Always my pleasure to hang out and converse with Tecmo legends. Friday night was surreal - like I'm going to refuse an autograph request from the Godfather?

Reg, Ones - unfortunately we didn't place high enough to go to the casino this time ;), but it's been awesome getting to know you two guys over the years. And for the intellectual conversation Kyle. Glad we were able to hang.

Manyo, Grip - My roomies(Manyo for 3, Grip 1). Love you guys (no homo)

Mort - LEGEND.

O'Toole - Worst. Playbook. Ever. It was awesome getting drunk with you for a while Saturday. You were hammered. Glorious.

O'Dell, Moskwa - Mucho drinks and partying Saturday - most fun outside of Tecmo in over a year. Love you guys (no homo)

Psycho - Always the man. Great plan we had - dinner and such, sucks it didn't turn out the best, but still was awesome hanging out, and we should definitely do more of that in the future tourneys we meet in.

Degeorge - Great run man! I watched the stream yesterday, holy god were we trying to be loud for you. I still have no voice - you're welcome :)

Merliss, Suicide - sucks we didn't get to hang as much as I'd have liked, but I'm glad we finally met, and hope I'll see you guys soon. Awesome dudes.

Stewart, Kweh - Always great seeing you two, excellent stream work guys!

Jim Socks - Awesome party Friday - Hope to see you in Columbus!

Frolf, Leonardite, Bryce, Barry - Thanks for the ride back to my car! Always awesome seeing you degenerates ;) July 23 - #BurningMort. That is all.

EDIT; Moulds, Luke, Beef - Gyros = best business decision I've ever made. Loved drinking and seeing you guys again. (Cannot believe I forgot this in my thread at first. Sorry. Shit.)

Again, everyone I met was kick-ass, and if I missed you, Sorry.

In all retrospect, this has been a kick-ass ride! Sucks it's coming to an end, but I've come to grips with no more Tecmo Madison. Tears have flown, beers been consumed, shots taken, but no matter how many Spotted Cows I drink, none will taste as sweet as the ones from Tecmo Madisons 9-12.

Thank you Josh, Chet, Orenga, Bailey, Dave, Durch, the Posse, and everyone else over the years who have contributed. You will always have my(and others',  I'm sure) heartfelt gratitude for creating the best Tecmo tournament and camaraderie there is in existence. Hope to see you soon, wherever the Tecmo events take us. Thank you.

Oh man... Toolie is just gettin RAKED over this playbook. I feel like I need to intervene and explain that he eviscerated O'dell's Jets with the Sharpe reverse in the car ride Friday. He then overcame a case of the barfs Sunday (SUBWAAAAAAAY!!) to take the only incrementally 2nd most prestigious title handed out this weekend- Yukon 2016 Champion... SO GET OFF HIS BACK Y'ALL... but Coco, you da man, get your ass out to Buffalo April 23.

My brother Kyle N. (4th place in TecmoXII) couldn't get enough Tecmo. He returned to southwest Iowa Sunday and posted a monster to remind the rest of us how our losses to him could have been worse.

Toolie beat the heck out of some peeps with his bizarre playbooks in HSRL over the past few seasons.  Guess that might have been false motivation for Madison, doh!

Funniest  thing  i seen wasnt something  i seen live but rather the stream..  Flo goes through  his conditions  in ne vs ind and someone  in crowd shouts grogan and he actually  put him in lmfao.. Flo and rickster are the best to watch play.  Invaderstar  and duce were the 2 of  the  smoothest people i meant.   They are great.  Grip gave me the scoop on The Kid (ty man).  Dont wanna miss any names but here is all the people i owe a special  thanks to for playing a part on either  getting me there or having a chance to win with either words of encouragement  or just prep games.  Mort,  red,  bru, dave, knobbe, ziur, duece, invaderstar, both bos,  laz,  kweh aka neerm,  kevin carbello,  manyo,  luckytool,  coco,  reg,  rickster,  flo,  moulds, grip and last but not least hank the tank!! Without him by side and daves magic water no chance in hell i win... Also a huge thanks to orenga,  chet,  josh,  john bailey for running the best thing to happen for tecmo and for being so nice.   The pics of the kid vs orenga are the most epic pics i seen.  If anyone knows the kid please  tell him online needs him..     If i missed anyone im sry..

Every time player121xk and my brother have gone to Madison, it has been an absolute treat. However, this trip was just a little bit sweeter. As always, Chet, Josh, and Tony do an absolutely phenomenal job running the tournament. It always amazes me the attention to detail with everything going on. I really appreciate the work that you guys (and everyone else that helps) put in and hope that you enjoy your extra free time next year. Additionally, I really appreciate the work that Dave did with the stream. My parents were able to watch the last two games, which was pretty cool for them and I. It was difficult trying to explain why Tecmo players want to see the halftime show but well worth it, so thanks so much. It was great seeing guys who I had played against years ago like Tony and Brian in TCS, but also getting to meet Regulator, DeGeorge, Kyle, and Mort. Everyone was so unbelievably nice. The Tecmo community is certainly tough to beat. While Tony's crew is tough to beat, I had the best group of supporters in the building with Matt and James K. We had a lot of practice time, and I certainly wouldn't have been there (or played as well) without them.

After having some time to think about this past weekend, it is still pretty tough putting everything together. I would have never imagined getting to play against the most well-known Tecmo player in Mort, dealing with the best Tecmo posse and all-around great guy in Tony, playing against one of the greatest tappers/players in Regulator, or getting the chance to compete for the title with one of the best online Tecmo players in Gats. Everyone of those guys (and everyone else I played) was truly a class-act. Once I have kids, I look forward to telling them about the greatest Tecmo weekend of my life. It was real honor getting to play with some of the best Tecmo players around.

I only played in one online Tecmo league. The Tecmo Championship Series. I was ten when I started and still remember going to school bragging about how I was in a Tecmo league. I had lots of fun. However, my record was not very good. Because I find some weird irony in it, here is my coach page of the old TCS league: http://www.tecmochampionshipseries.com/team.php?id=8&initials=EIU

Illini2005boy. 18-73.

Thanks again everyone.

It's difficult to even begin to describe how much fun I had at my first ever Tecmo Madison tournament.  A huge thanks to all of those involved!

Without a doubt, my absolute favorite thing about any live Tecmo tourney is that pretty much every single competitor is there to have fun and is a good sport no matter the outcome.  This makes for a full day of nothing but smiles and pure fun.

This picture pretty much sums it up - I was playing against JimSocks for the last spot in the field of 64 and the pic was snapped as I hit a FG off the post and in for a 3 point win in DOUBLE OVERTIME!  Take a look at JimSock's face - BIG OL' SMILE!!  It isn't possible for someone to be a better sport than Jim right there.  That's live Tecmo at its best.

Jim you and your crew were fantastic the entire time.  Thanks for helping remind me just how much fun playing this game live can be!

It was definitely brought on by the GIANT bear hug you gave me after I thought you missed that field goal. I got my money's worth in our two games alone. Awesome stuff man, my buddy kept telling me all night he'd remember that game for as long as he lived, I couldn't ask for a better last game in Madison against a better guy.

I'll talk with Kyle, but initially Kyle said online was not his thing.  But I'll still chat with him about joining.

I probably won't join up with online leagues until October. Spring/Summer/Fall are golf months and I spend most of my time outside.

For those of you who saw the Tecmo Vote station, the results were:

Bob Nelson - winner with 16 A buttons

Bo Jackson - runner up with 14 A buttons

QB Eagles - honorable mention at about 10 A buttons

Again, good games all, good conversation as well. You know you got a smooth tournament going when even the NES glitches/resets are well handled.

Hopefully, @Leonardite tells us his stories about being super hammered and wandering Madison with a huge video camera taking pictures with all the UW hotties he saw.

I'd love to tell you those stories and show you the candid footage I shot with my tripod camera and fuzzy microphone.  I hope I do that too.

I'll post a better overall response later, but what an absolutely ridiculous time in Madison again.  I'm still not fully back into "real life" mode after 48 hours of just sheer, stupid fun.
