There's a few of us in CT that would make a trip to Boston - also at our CT tourney there were 6-7 ppl from Mass.- 2 guys from Cape Cod came to our CT tourney that have every 1st Sat in December.

There's a couple online guys in VT and there's also a Video Game magazine that has an office in Downtown Boston - there was a Fighting game tournament at Foxwoods casino in October, the Video Game magazine that was covering took a big interest in the Tecmo setup we had displaying 2014rom & giving info about online tecmo etc.. they wanted to host a Boston tournament & invited us (me, Brian Rausse from NYC, & Kevin Smith (Tadaos) from Stratford CT) to their office for more interviews rthey wanted to put on their website & the G4 channel, etc..

Hit me up for some more info, I can try to get you in touch w / them if you're serious about a Boston Tourney.

It was the "G.U.T.S." Fighting game tournament at Foxwoods Casino that we were approached by them.

Might be GUTTS, idk something like that. Very large tournament - had to be close to 500 ppl there, possibly more.

One of the organizers of the tournament contact Brian via the Tecmo site & asked if we would be interested in setting up a demo there for ppl to see what's going on w/ Tecmo these days..

they interviewed me on camera - was a video game show host girl w a green wig on (not kidding) - they actually emailed me a few days after the event & told me that their recording was corrupted unfort & after apologized invited me /us to their office in Boston to re-shoot the interview.

Brian (chaos) & Kevin Smith (tadaos) were there w. me too - think Brian might have gotten a little time on the camera too.

They shot a decent amount of footage of the 2014 Cartridge that we had on display.. I"ll look back at my emails & see if I can post the entire email here - see where it could go.. they were very serious about hosting a Boston tourney though at their HQ/Office.

here's his email to me after the event ([email protected]):

Hey Eric,
It was very nice meeting & talking with you at GUTS. These documentaries are really interesting, a good watch.
So I have some terrible news, there was a problem with the audio and we lost everything at GUTS audio wise. I still have great B-roll of your set up and We would love to still do a video with you guys. Is there anyway to get you guys up to Boston for another interview in studio or maybe even a Skype/google plus interview? I am super sorry about this, I feel awful about wasting your time at GUTS.

Also We are very interested in making Tecmo Bowl happen in Boston. We are hosting retro gaming nights at a local bar in Boston and I think the Tecmo Bowl would fit right in there. To set up the tournament more, please talk to our events guy, his number is 202 243 8452, his name is Adrian and he would love to talk to you more.

Again I apologize, and I want to make this right by you guys.
Sincerely,
Frank Duran

Hrm.  I don't know.  I am thinking of trying to set up a Boston tournament.  If there is enough interest, I wouldn't mind trying to host one.  If you're in the Boston area please reply to this thread expressing your interest.  Also, if you're interested, please say if you have any equipment (such as an original NES, the game, and controllers) because people bringing and donating their equipment would absolutely be necessary.

One thing you can also try is reddit though I'd recommend you'd get a core of people/systems first if possible.

It seemed to work well for these guys in LA and I'd assume Boston also has a large community. http://www.reddit.com/r/LosAngeles/comments/2pii56/la_tecmo_super_bowl_tournament_2015/

Interesting. This could have legs... At this rate a potential tourney would likely have to be in the Spring with all the snow we have.

What are you thinking in terms of location/venue on this?  The snow is putting a damper on pretty much everything around here, but I'm going to be flat out with work until May anyways.... then my weekends will open back up.  There's a good chance I could convince 4 or 5 other guys to show up (if needed).  The talent would be below average - guys who play TSB periodically, but won't be taking home any trophies.

Unfortunately no equipment.  Unless people want to play on a laptop using the keyboard.  Ha!

I have a teeny-tiny "lead" on a venue. I don't want to show my cards on that just yet because... well I'll explain that later if need be. Not to be secretive or annoying. Sorry. Just know it could be a location in a neighboring suburb to Boston.

But I would imagine we would want to do it legit... NES Consoles, actual TSB cartridge, original NES controllers, etc.

All good.  As a Pats fan I'm used to the suspense. ;-)

All you have to do is coordinate a place and run the tourney on the day of. Everyone always brings equipment, just have us all bring the systems and games. People even can bring TVs but that you may need to try to have too.

Beer is also a prerequisite for playing tecmo so helps to have it at a bar or place that is cool with the beers.

Looks like they have a venue and a retro gaming crowd already in place in the Boston area.. Probably have access to equipment too if they already host events.. Why not reach out and see what they have to offer?? Depending on the date I'd strongly consider making the trip from Philly area.
