The Battle of Vicksburg Organizational Ideas

Recommended Posts

64 players?  Don't know if it's possible, but even 32 would work.  It's no further than I have to go for SWLA, or suicideking to B'ham.

Since it's a >5 hour drive away from any of us, we would need many advance commitments.  Some form of prepay as Madison did, with an incentive to pay in advance.  Perhaps a $20 buy-in 3 months prior to the event, $30 buy-in within 3 months, and $35-40 for walk-ins.

I wonder if any of the casinos would permit this within the actual casinos (boats)...if not the hotel meeting spaces would work.  Could they sponsor and profit from this, which could potentially reduce the financial burden to the organizers?

Who has Nintendos and cartridges?  I have one that works and another that might with fixing.  Ashman and Chad may have a total of 15 or so?  I would guess the Bham guys have a similar number?

Cuss and discuss.

Yes we several NES games and TV's ... of course we only need 8 Stations for a 32 person tournament with group play and two brackets

Would be easier to get a place if we can show that we have a lot of people coming

I think a bar in the area maybe our best bet for getting a free place

Yeah I'm good with the buy in structure for sure ... I'm not a big fan of people showing up day of because I like yo be prepared and have each game schedule prior to tournament but again don't want to turn folks away either

I'm not a guy who can bring anybody.  Chad and Ashman are the ones who have organized the tournaments around here.

I have at least been to Vicksburg several times and was booted for card counting.  Don't worry it's been a few years :-)

Not sure about the bars there but at the very least the casino hotels have ample space for this.

As far as NES goes I have 3 systems with all the required goodies(cartridges and controllers). After the SWLA my brother has found his long lost love for the game, so I could bring him also. As you guys know I'm all in for tournaments within 6-8 hours drive. The commitment/payment system is a great idea because it takes time and money to organize such an event and most of the cost should be paid via participant's entry fee. Also we should put down a no refund for late cancellations. This is an awesome idea for the south to gain some steam and maybe, forgive me for say so, being the Madison of the south. I'm on board no matter how this shakes out. Anything I can do to make this happen let me know. I think a group effort is required here, so I'm all in

To be honest, if I would advertise my tourney it could be as big as y'all are wanting it to be.

The only help I would need is a pre paying system and advertising on yalls behalf.

I have never been interested in a huge tourney as much as I was in a quality tourney. What is it that we are trying to accomplish, 40 quality players in one location? If so, we can accommodate that in our annual tourney.

Just a thought and no one has to chase a rabbit.

I have plenty of nes systems, controllers, and cartridges on my own.

I can also get a place that would be big enough.
