8-bit
I have been using the site quite a bit on my iPad to prepare for my league draft in ETC (which is now available for signups: http://tecmobowl.org/topic/53934-returning-owners-for-next-season-please-respond/) We re-draft the players from the original game. Great Site, looks great on ipad visually !! I agree with Kenobe that you should create a separate RB only rankings page, but nice to have both because players use different rules for different tournaments. tecmo_geek
Hey everyone, I found some free time over the holidays to make a bunch of the requested improvements to the site: - On the rushers page (http://tecmogeek.com/players/rushers/), you can now choose to show only RBs. Likewise, on the receivers page (http://tecmogeek.com/players/receivers/), you can choose to show only WR/TEs. - On all the player position pages, you can sort by any of the attributes. - On the team pages, (http://tecmogeek.com/teams/bills/), I've improved the RB/WR/TE section as well. Sorting by any of the positions will list the players from best to worst for that position. - I've tweaked the weighting of attributes for some positions. MS counts more for RBs, REC counts more for WR, and a few other small changes. - I've kept the ranking for each player but also listed their rating, which is basically a measure of how good they are relative to other players at that position. I think it's good to see that Jerry Rice is the #1 ranked receiver, but that his rating (90%) is actually much higher than #2 (83%) as well. - How I calculate ranking/rating is explained here: http://tecmogeek.com/about/rankings/. There's a few updates to that page that I still need to make. Would love to hear feedback on any of this! bruddog
Here is how i would weight things QB Maximum Speed: 30%Passing Speed: 15%Pass Control: 50%Avoid Pass Block: 5% I gave more weight to QB speed . Rushers (all RB, WR, TE receive a rusher rating)Running Speed: 5%Maximum Speed: 80%Hitting Power: 5% Ball Control: 5%Receptions: 5%I don't think Okoyes 94HP is super useful in a man vs man setting. And i don't see him as better than a 63ms back. Receivers (all RB, WR, TE receive a receiver rating)Running Speed: 10%Maximum Speed: 50% Hitting Power: 5%Ball Control: 5%Receptions: 30% I flipped the weightings for speed vs receptions. All things being equal the marginal value of speed is greater than the marginal value of receiving power. Especially considering REC is basically pointless for wide open WR. Kick Returners (all RB, WR, TE receive a kick returner rating)Punt Returners (all RB, WR, TE receive a punt returner rating) The kick returners use the right tackles Maximum speed and the punt returners use the SS's maximum speed. So you probably just want to put BC and hitting power greater than 88 as the only real important things. OLMaximum Speed: 50%Hitting Power: 50% Speed isn't really useful for OL. I'm not even sure a faster OL is even better. You'd be best just weighting it them all on HP. DLRunning Speed: 10%Rushing Power: 35%Maximum Speed: 10%Hitting Power: 40%Pass Interceptions: 5%This is okay but i might weight HP even more as the majority of DL won't be man controlled and their primary ability is the ability to break through the OL which is based on HP. LBRunning Speed: 20%Rushing Power: 40%Maximum Speed: 20%Hitting Power: 5%Pass Interceptions: 15%I dropped HP down to 5% because it doesn't have any effect on tackling unless you are using a hacked rom. For the OLB that engage the tackles as drones HP is more valuable but for the ILB's its not very useful. CB/SRunning Speed: 10%Rushing Power: 35%Maximum Speed: 10%Hitting Power: 5%Pass Interceptions: 40% KKicking attribute: 70%Avoid Kick Block: 30% PKicking attribute: 70%Avoid Kick Block: 30% Goose

Dusto
One thing you could probably do pretty easily for quality of life changes is floating column headers. Let me know if you need any help with coding that. So that as I scroll down i can still see that i'm looking at max speed, hitting power , receptions etc for people near the bottom half of the list. Deleted Account
i just ran into this database for the first time. I linked it to my tecmo blog. I like that even my cheap phone web service can access this site. I might reference it as a side note in an article. DFM

tecmo_geek
Thanks everyone for all the feedback on the site. It seems like a major use case for the site can be for players at tournaments. Some ideas to make it better for tournament use: - Better mobile optimization. Currently, on a phone, the site just displays as it would on desktop, scaled down. - Team vs team comparisons. See how teams match up with each other and where the advantages are (DL vs OL, WR vs CB/S, etc). What other features would be useful for tournament players? manYo and DFM
Bad Moon Rison
I like this website a lot. Great layout and sorting. Have you considered including other versions of the game?
tecmo_geek
I like this website a lot. Great layout and sorting. Have you considered including other versions of the game? It was so much work to do this much, so I'll probably leave other versions to someone else. bruddog
