Need help with NCAA Helmets...

Just had the same problems. But read up on the following and in one weekend figured out how to do 28 college helmets. This info is listed in the first post of the TECMO HACKING thread. Happy reading.

are you having problems with the large helmets or mini helmets?

This is totally right!. If your problem is with BIG helmets, I may assume it has to do with their BIG LOGOS, and , since you didnt say if your logos were correct (meaning they are only being "misplaced")

1) MISPLACED LOGOS - ("Correct" logos on another team's helmet) this is very easy to solve. Go to offset x23E70 and you'll find the BIG-LOGO distribution

BILLS - 3E-(23E75) BENGALS - 32-(23E7A) BRONCOS - 36-(23E7E)

COLTS - 3D-(23E76) BROWNS - 33-(23E7B) CHIEFS - 37-(23E7F)

DOLPHINS - 3F-(23E77) OILERS - 34-(23E7C) RAIDERS - 41-(23E80)

PATRIOTS - 40-(23E78) STEELERS - 35-(23E7D) CHARGERS - 42-(23E81)

JETS - 31-(23E79) SAEHAWKS - 3A-(23E82)

REDSKINS - 45-(23E83) BEARS - 46-(23E88) 49ERS - 4E-(23E8D)

GIANTS - 3C-(23E84) LIONS - 47-(23E89) RAMS - 4C-(23E8E)

EAGLES - 43-(23E85) PACKERS - 48-(23E8A) SAINTS - 4D-(23E8F)

For this case just switch the Logo to their correct position (if you have a value of "40" at x23E75, then you have Pats. logo on TEAM-Bills Helmet, and so on.., to make it right, you would have to put a "3E" in that same offset x23E75, thats Bills logo on TEAM-Bills Helmet)

2) WRONG HELMET DESIGN - (This means more easily: a RAMS logo on background, and any other logo on first "layer")

For this go to offset x23E50-x23E74 and the helmet design for each team is in the "Bills-Atl." order (all AFC first, then all NFC teams)

40 - Normal design A ( "Sunshine reflects" and "single stripe")

41 - Normal design B ( NO "Sunshine reflects" and "double stripe")

42 - Rams design on "background"

43 - Bengals design on "background"

3) WRONG PALETTES - (correct TEAM and LOGO, but wrong colors)

At offset x23E79, you'll find all team's palettes as follows:

2nd hex - background color (body of the helmet)

3rd hex - pair of stripes ("Sunshine reflects" for 40 type designs)

4th hex - facemask's exterior line

5th hex - facemask's body

6th, 7th, 8th hex - are the for the logo itself (depends on team )

4) EVERYTHING WRONG - then you really dont have anything.

If this is your case, then probably youre having trouble modifying the logo tiles, then best thing to do is get a TILE VIEWER program that can help you with that.

If I were you Id give it a try.

But if you are having trouble with the MINI HELMETS, thats kinda more complicated (for all the tile and palettes "sharings" between teams), but, lets supose your mini-helmets were once again correct, but:

1) MISPLACED MINI-HELMETS - ("Correct" logos on another team's helmet) this means that a team doesnt have their corresponding mini helmet next to it (nowadays this can be very easily achieved switching teams with a General TSB Manager, but anyway) it is still very well documented here: http://tecmobowl.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4356

Just switch the teams' tiles with "trouble", and the logo problem would be solved. But you're no done with the "palette issue" yet.

2) WRONG PALETTES - (correct TEAM and LOGO, but wrong colors) May God help you with this!, because this is the very difficult part.

Since you only have 4 palettes, (12 colors +1background) (plus 4 other more that can also be used) This is a really complex task to achieve. Knowing that every helmet palette is composed by 3 colors only, you will have to manage first, to fit all 28 teams into a 12 color palette, then make all the compositions for each of the 4 palettes (3 colors) and finally applying your 2 "wild-card" colors, and your other 2 additional colors so that all teams are contained in your "array"

where it says:

1A152 - Changes the Grayish Blue in the Seahawks, Cowboys, & Lions Helmets.

x1A15A - Changes the Blue in both the Rams and Chargers helmets.

x1A15E - Changes the Dolphins Cyan color in their mini-helmet.

x1A15D - Changes the Green in the Eagles, Jets and Packers helmets....

Hey, dont worry HEX- "programming" is nothing but "cut-paste" I know nothing about "programming" at all. I just downloaded the HEX-Editor, opened the nes file, and followed instructions about the offset locations, then it just goes "cut&paste", "cut& paste" (of course you have to check it yourself to see what im talking about)
