threw this up on the news site and posted it to facebook. - http://www.tecmobowl...eview-released/

hoping to get the kids pumped for this!

Thanks for the support. About 3-4 weeks for a playbel beta.

Things that are unfinished.

Essential for the release.

Entire play book(including paly art)....The AI is figured out, just coding all the plays now. This will take about 10-15 hours coding.

Rosters....Actually that is easy copy and paste stuff from Excell and internet....about 4 hours of work

Ratings....Fine tuning formulas. More cutting and pasting when ready. about 2 hours.

SIM values.....about 2 hours of work

Total 23 hours of coding after work and some on weekends.

Non Essential for Beta

Team Data Screens graphics.....?? hours

In Game Change Data Screen (where it shows the players and subs.)

Front end menu text graphics

Shooting for an opening weekned of college football release of the beta. It will be fully functional. I call it a Beta due to the amount of AI changes that need public testing and commenting. Most other stuff will bells and whistles. Like everything else we have done, we are tryning to make this editing friendly for future use. This includes DH's graphics for fields.

Ahhh, the gameplay. Damn you bruddog. :-P Was hoping no one would bring that up. I am trying to finalize what i really want with the play book. Every play is being rewritten with the AI based on some JSTOUT coding and help. The AI is in place and fully functional, just need to create all the player routes in hex now. Making it feel like football---Tecmo Foortball to be exact----is still our main focus. We wanted to really keep the Tecmo Feel. Tough thing to do. When it is released, will love any feedback as well as suggestions on improving, or expanding on an idea. We are hoping once we are done, we can start our focus on the "TSB 3 ROM That shall not be said out loud", as not to jinx it.

Progress Update.

Roster names done for all 30 teams. still have to grab numbers and weights for 8 teams though, as appearantly some teams don't turn that in to the site i was grabbing the info off of. But as far as names, done!!!!! Now on to team rankings and finalizing formula to create in game ratings and sim values. Once that is done, will begin the final step.....creating each play and organizing team play books. Fun times:)

  • 2 weeks later...

This is from last year's ROM:

1. New Defenses and defensive audibles. 50%

2. New Offenses and offensive audibles. You will need to relearn some things cause we've given ya'll more control than ever. 50%

3. New player models, even better than last roms! 100%

4. KR and PR for each team will be correct. 0%

5. Player faces will be redrawn and reassigned to the star players for each team! 0%

6. New College theme backgrounds. All the old ones were to NFL'ly for my taste. 25%

7. New Team Endzones and other advances to make each teams home field fell more unique. 80% (Thanks to jstout for helping me get rid of the stadium overlay. Gave us true colors for the sideline and endzones. Game wouldn't look quite as good without them)

8. Team sim changed to give higher ranked teams better chances of making the playoffs. 0%

9. More diverse player ratings. Average players will be geared to what that team is known for. 0%

10. Dynasty Mode? Have hacked the free agent and trade aspects of the game to give them a more college feel. 100%

11. Team styles will be better reflected, Run teams will run, Pass teams will pass. 60%

12. New Team rosters. If you're a running team you'll have 4 RBs listed and 4 WR. Pass Teams will carry only 3 RBs and 5 WR on the depth chart. Possibly all out pass teams will carry 6 WR. Still thinking that one out. 50%

13. New play select graphics and backgrounds. 0%

14. The Wildcat 100%

15. New Intro and Title screen. 0%

16. Teams are set 100% (posted team select screenshots)

Also, we added a byte that reads what a player is. So if you change your FB with a WR, the WR will line up as the slot WR. Or if if change out that FB with a TE, you'll line up in a 2 TE set. Put a WR as your RB, well, he'll line up as a RB... But good luck making him play like one. Coded it so he wont get a boost....EVER! No more J. Rice domination at RB... Did we mention the Impact byte? Break a big one when this byte kicks in... Don't know if thats major enough for you. :)

And the option...where qbs who scramble keep it, and qbs with no speed rarely do. Fast backs try and bounce it outside, and powerback cut up and pound it... We wrote a new thought process for each position, its still tecmo, but the CPU players try and play to their strengths. We even have it where the less talented players take longer to gain control of. So back ups feel like backups if they arent very good. We didnt have to dumb down their speed to make them bad. That was our main goal when coding. Better guys do little things better, thats why they are starters. Example using NFL players... Chris Johnson and Felix Jones, both are known for speed, but C. J. just makes more things happen. Savy?

Is this what the Jstout logic is?
